I have a ton of serious allergies and am a celiac, so it's not easy for me to find things on a menu. Plus, I've never been a fan of their tasteless mushy food, BUT I came with my Mom and sister. I checked the menu before going. Their GF menu is not a GF menu. It's a selection of like 5 things they are willing to modify. I went in thinking I'd get an egg salad platter. Simple right? No. It's the only diner in America that has tuna and chicken salad platters and not an egg salad platter. No, they will not sub for egg salad. They have been told they cannot make modification on anything. If it's not on the menu, they can't do it. What?!?!??!! It's on the menu?!??! They have egg salad. They have salad platters. So then they let my sister sub a salad for her fries. The bill came. Her side salad instead of fries cost $7! So with nothing on the menu I can eat, they offered an egg salad sandwich without the bread. So a scoop of egg salad? Basically I could have paid for an egg salad sandwich without bread and a chicken salad platter without chicken salad to get a scoop of egg salad on a bed of lettuce with coleslaw. Nope, not again. On April 10. Monday night, 9pm, with my two kids stopped in for my first time visit. It was cold inside. Other customers went to their cars for jackets and coats. Customers had to convince the staff to turn on the heat. Our food was cold. One chicken tender dinner and two cheese burgers dinners. Our three drinks were good. Our french fries were HARD as if they were previously cooked, then warmed back up in an oven. Bread was stale and fell apart as we tried to eat. The cup of soup that comes with the meals was room temperature. Our waiter was a young girl, and she done well. Total of around $68 for the food not including the TIP. My sister and I came here to eat after a full day of shopping on Friday night 02/02/24. It was extremely busy. I ordered a crab soup and the Tuna Melt with fries. I received the crab soup, and it was TERRIBLE. It had a seasoning in it that made the soup taste like it had floor cleaner in it. The waitress was kind enough to get me another soup which I chose the chicken soup. It was better than the crab soup, but it was very bland tasting. I don't think I will be ordering anymore soups from here. The Tuna Melt and the fries were delicious. The sandwich had so much tuna on it; I could have made two sandwiches out of it. Another problem was there was a very large party eating not far from us in the back dining room and the tables were set up to where you had a hard time getting out of the dining room because the tables blocked the area. This diner however was pretty horrible, my husband ordered the pot roast (which was slices of meat with some unrecognizable red sauce on top), while I ordered pot pie. My husbands food was cold and bland, while my potpie was hot but pretty tasteless. Today I had the Manhattan clam chowder which was the best part of my meal. Enjoyed the gyro on a pita. It was good and cooked well. Food came very quickly. Server was very polite and accommodating. My partner said his sandwich was okay but a monte cristo as he knows them, are supposed to be fried all together. I felt his sandwich was way to sweet for my taste. My scrapple was about 3/4 of an inch thick. Crispy outside but thick enough to be mushy inside. I would have preferred it to be all crunchy, but I was trying it for the first time, so I wasn't bothered. I ate it with the egg, and homefries, on top of my toast. Very filling and tasty. They are open 24 hours and have a full breakfast menu from fruit and yogurt to pancakes omelets. They have salads, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, chops, chicken and seafood. The kitchen manager comes over and says do you want another one. I would like one not burnt and she tells me that's how their grill makes omelettes. So I say never mind. My daughter and grand daughter went to have brunch on a Saturday at 11 am hoping there would be no wait to sit down. To our surprise we were seated right away even though the parking lot was full. The menu was so overwhelming we did not know what to order. I chose the New Yorker panini. I was extremely disappointed with the sandwich, the Swiss cheese that was supposed to be melted was still cool to the touch and not even slightly melted; the tomato was soggy and falling apart and the roast beef was cooked so hard it was too tough to chew and the horseradish sauce that came on the sandwich had no taste, making for a very unsatisfying experience. However, the Fries and soup (I got shrimp bisque), were all very good and came with the meal for approx $15.. My granddaughter ordered chicken tenders kids meal that came with fries, for 7 dollars and she really liked it. My daughter who is very picky opted for a safe choice and got an egg, bacon and cheese bagel sandwich that came with home fries. She was very disappointed with hers. The sandwich was loaded with onions, lettuce and tomato, and impossible to bite into without everything falling out. The home fries were a pile of mush and appeared to be undercooked and soggy. It is only because the service was outstanding that I will raise my score from a 2 (for the food) to 3. The food is always good, however I only come here for breakfast. The cheese omelette is delicious and so are the hash browns! Although nothing hits the spot for post-barhopping munchies like Tastee Diner in Bethesda, when I'm out in Baltimore or Annapolis, my default place is the Double T (open 24/7) in Glen Burnie. I know, I know, "Glen Burnie?!", you ask. However if you care to think about it, you will see that Glen Burnie has the perfect balance of suburban jeunesse doree and trailer trash je-ne-sais-quoi. To start with, the Double T in Glen Burnie, is exceptionally easy to get to - just hop along Route 100, and get off at exit 2B, and it's immediately on the right. The ease of these directions is exceptionally important when one has been drinking steadily for several hours (I do not condone drinking and driving - this tip is for the drunk navigator giving directions to the sober, and much annoyed, designated-driver). The parking lot is large - which is again, exceptionally key, at 2am on a Friday or Saturday night, as the place is pretty busy. The diner itself is huge - so there is never a wait, no matter how full the parking lot looks. I could say that this is just "diner food", but Double T is so much more! Beyond the usual offerings of delicious breakfast foods, there are also lunch and dinner options, ranging from salads to burgers to steaks. However, I have to note, that of all the times I've visited Double T, the only time I ever got food poisoning - in my entire life - was when I strayed off of the vast breakfast menu. Lesson for the kids - when given a choice, always pick breakfast foods over regular foods. My favorite has to be the Double T Breakfast Special. For a mere $7.99, you get two pancakes, two sausages (which are the size of a baby's arm), two crispy slices of bacon (but I've always ended up with at least 4 slices of bacon on my plate), two eggs - cooked any way, and a large helping of breakfast potatoes. I have never had a hangover in my life, and I credit my lack of morning-after whininess by the through consumption of fatty foods prior to crashing...and the Double T Breakfast Special is two plates (the pancakes are on it's own plate) of fatty anti-hangover goodness! Although the wait staff can be a little gruff at times, they are usually prompt, and the kitchen slings out the food like they know that those pancakes are the only things saving you from getting your stomach pumped. The food is plentiful and hot. The lights are unreasonably bright, however, once the food comes, you will be bent over your plate wolfing down each delicious bite of fatty, carby goodness that it won't matter. The best part about the Double T? They serve alcohol. Yes, that's right. After all that breakfast meat and breakfast carbs settle and soak up all the alcohol in your stomach...you can go ahead and order another screwdriver, and get your buzz back. Terrible? Yes, however that is the added benefit of the Double T...you are in Glen Burnie. No matter how smeared your make-up, how torn your hose is, or how big of a hot-mess you think you look, you will be - by far - the most sober and normal person in the diner. read more
