Scrapple, eggs, home fries

OK. Just Wow. This small restaurant in Pasadena has it all. Cute charm, friendly staff, and FANTASTIC food. Been in a couple of times, and have never had to wait for a table. The parking lot is sized just right for the restaurant. I have gotten the breakfast bowl more than once. It is so much food that it is almost TOO much. I do customize my order a bit, and the server doesn't bat an eye. My food comes out in about half the time expected. If you sit at the bar in back, you can watch your food being cooked. EVERYTHING on the menu is amazing! I look forward to the next time I get out that way!

The image shows the interior of a diner with a counter area where a staff member in a pink shirt and black apron is working. The decor includes seasonal decorations such as a green garland and a sign that reads 'Taste for a Day.' A menu board lists specials like country fried steak and Georgia peach waffle. The counter has various items including cups, a coffee pot, and containers. Seating with metal chairs is visible, and a person is seen sitting at the counter. The overall setting suggests a cozy, casual dining environment.

Friendly service and a decent breakfast. Expect a wait, the place is small but they do have a hidden dining counter if you're eating alone.

But honestly, we thought it became too expensive over the years (maybe I'm just getting old). With that said, I sat at the bar (service was excellent), and ordered the 16 ounce prime rib, $55, with a Caesar salad and sweet potato, and mozzarella cheese sticks to start (~$10). I ordered a tea to drink, but requested a beer (~$8)with the steak. Total bill was ~$80. The prime rib was ordered and delivered medium rare, and was by far one of the best steaks I've had in probably three years. It honestly could've been cut with just the fork, no knife required, and was well seasoned. The sweet potato mash was well seasoned, without being over seasoned. And the Caesar salad was super crisp, and I happen to like creamy Caesar dressing. The mozzarella cheese sticks look like they're hand dipped (not sure) and very good. And delivered with extra marinara per request. The bartender even remembered to pour the Sam's seasonal beer (winter something, it was not the typical winter lager which i like as well) when the steak was delivered. I did not have to ask. That was really nice. Also, I did not have to ask for a refill on the tea, it just magically appeared. Plus, the appetizer, the salad, and the steak, we're all delivered at the right timing intervals. I did not feel rushed, nor do I have to wait. So, was it expensive? Maybe a little bit. But the service made up for it, and that's all the difference.

The food is always phenomenal here. Great food! Great service!…read more Fresh upscale taste and presentation.

I was seated immediately, and the wait staff was personable, attentive, and made the whole visit feel easy and enjoyable. The food was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and very reasonably priced. I was especially impressed by the variety on the menu. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, or a devoted meat lover, there's truly something for everyone. It's rare to find a place that caters so well to different dietary preferences without compromising on quality. I didn't order any alcoholic beverages this time, but their beer selection looked great, with plenty of appealing options for a future visit. Overall, Oscar's Alehouse delivered a wonderful lunch experience, and I'll definitely be returning.

My server, Travis, was very friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right throughout my visit. I started with a cup of French onion soup, and it was so good that I came back today just to order another cup. That alone says a lot. Yesterday I also ordered the Eldersburg Burger, cooked medium-well, paired with their hand-cut fries. This burger was juicy and flavorful--honestly tasted like something you'd get at a family cookout. The fries were delicious and complemented the burger perfectly. I also have to mention the sweet iced tea--it tastes fresh-brewed and has the perfect balance of sweetness. Today, even though I wasn't very hungry, I tried the crab dip. While it wasn't my absolute favorite, it was still good. I also sampled the carrot cake, which unfortunately was a bit dry for my liking. That said, I'll definitely be back--especially on Mondays, when burgers are $8 (with toppings at $1 each, and totally worth it). My server today also let me know about Wing Wednesday: 1 lb of wings for $8, any flavor. Say less! I'm already planning another visit so I can finally try the cream of crab soup, which is made daily. Can't wait to see if it lives up to the hype. Overall, Oscar's Alehouse delivers solid food, great service, and awesome weekly specials. See you soon!

My only feedback is that the wonderful bread that is served with the crab dip is not enough for the amount of crab dip that you get. If you walked in blind, you honestly wouldn't even guess they specialize in seafood -- that's how clean and fresh the environment felt. Major points for that alone. Now let's get into the food. I started with the cream of crab soup. The portion was solid and there were huge chunks of crab throughout, which I definitely appreciated. However, the base itself just wasn't to my liking. The crab was there, but the flavor profile didn't quite hit for me. For my entrée, I ordered the oyster platter with two sides -- regular fries and coleslaw -- and added a shrimp basket because when you're at a seafood spot, you might as well go all in. The meal definitely satisfied my hunger, but if I'm being honest, it tasted more boxed and frozen than freshly battered. That homemade, crispy, just-dropped-in-the-fryer feel wasn't quite there. On the bright side, the fries were good -- hot, crisp, and dependable. The coleslaw was exactly how I like it: balanced, not too sweet, not too heavy on the mayo. Where they truly shine is customer service. The staff was accommodating, friendly, and very helpful throughout the visit. Service can make or break a dining experience, and they definitely delivered on that front. Overall, while this visit didn't completely wow me food-wise, the cleanliness and service alone are enough for me to give them another shot. I'll be back to try something different and will happily update my review. Stay tuned.

Funny thing is the night they offered that, I had made it for my husband and he had the leftovers for his lunch, so he opted for a salad that night. In the restaurants defense, as someone that makes the dish, it takes some space to marinate the meat for a few days and maybe that's the problem....but honestly I tasted the gravy on her dish and it was great, so I understand her disappointment and maybe Jimmy's needs to reevaluate having that or finding a way to accommodate other diners. So we went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We are always looking for places to eat on the weekends, and there are just not enough breakfast places in the area. We walked in at around 8 and they still weren't real busy. We got a nice booth and were served coffee and our server got our order pretty quick. Johnny's is diner like, so everything is on your table ready to go....and what I really liked is that I didn't have to ask anyone to get a Tabasco sauce for me. It was already on the table! Both my husband and I ordered sausage and swiss omelettes. They both came out cooked done and hot with just the right about of cheese. I know a lot of places we go seem to be skimping on that, but we want to taste it in our bite and we did! Our server refilled our coffee and was very pleasant. There is nothing like the hometown vibe that are in small restaurants and this one is no exception.
