First time stepping foot in this facility this past Saturday. I was a but apprehensive at first since I know nothing about archery, and this is an archery outfitter. The shop was a but busy, but I was never ignored. I went in to browse and being a first time bow buyer, I had no idea what I was looking at. The staff didn't try and up sell me anything, helped point me in the right direction and even taught me the basics and put me on an archery lane to shoot. I shot my first compound bow, and was immediately hooked. I was fitted, new bow adjusted and had arrows cut for me at a great price. Great outfitter, great knowledgeable people, great environment. They said it would be $80 to tune my husband's bow. Instead they charged my husband $175 to change the strings he brought in himself and to level his sight. On top of that nothing was done right and we had to take it to Archery Country in Austin to have them redo everything that they did/claimed to have done and overcharged for. There was even oil/lube where there shouldn't have been. They work with good shooters and definitely should know better. They just didn't give a shit. No attention to detail or care. Feel so taken advantage of. Archery Country was so nice and paper tuned my husband's bow & fixed everything else done wrong for exactly what they quoted him for $100. Don't waste your time or money to be taken advantage of. Shame on them. My husband wouldn't speak up in the moment because he said they were nice and it was incredibly awkward and disheartening & he just wanted to get the hell out of there. Now we're left with the bill and the expensive lesson learned the hard way. He even called them to give them a chance to make it right and they didn't. Moved here several years ago and I needed to get my Compound Bow back in action. I was happy to find a place within 10 minutes with an indoor range. The current owner, Paul greets you as soon as you walk in and he is so friendly. My husband was in the market of purchasing his first Compound Bow and Paul showed him what he had in stock and also made recommendations of what he did not have in stock. Without hesitation, my husband ordered a bow and Paul was realistic about how long it will take to arrive due to Covid with production and delivery. Within 3 weeks, we got a call that his bow arrived. Not only did Paul sell it to my husband, he helped him get set up with his bow with draw weight, sights and everything else to get him started. Rick was great with finalizing set up for his bow when he was zeroing his sight. I needed to get my sight zeroed and Rick was a huge help with assisting me too. He has taught me things that I did not know. I love that they engage with their customers, answers all your questions and they are so humble and kind. This place is a great place to shoot your bow and meet awesome people. We come here once a week and even if we don't shoot, we find a reason to drop by. read more

I read through the reviews only because I've been here twice and wondered why it wasn't five stars? First time I came in, I came in with a buddy who was trying out bows and I needed some arrows cut and inserts put in. The man working the counter was ridiculously nice, let my buddy try every bow that he wanted to and did my arrow work on the house. The second time I came in I brought my Hoyt that I bought off of Craigslist and needed the draw length adjusted. I was informed that they didn't have the modules to adjust to my length. Paul took the order, gave me a time frame for delivery, and let me know when they came in. Even told me I could come in after-hours during League time and he would set my bow up. I came in about an hour before they closed. He set my bow up and told me I could use the range as long as I needed. I even had a friend come in just before they closed and Paul said he could shoot with me until the league shooters started coming in. My father is a small business owner in Fort Worth and Double G has given me that "Hey, come in and let's get it done" experience that I've grown up appreciating. If your review is older than a year, it's too old. Paul is the new owner and he is great. Funny part is "Paul" is also the name of the first owner, only he was a gruff older gentlemen. I met him about 2 years ago, the only other time I tried shopping there and he was kind of an ass. I never went back. This Paul is younger and super friendly. I brought in a new compound bow that needed set up for me and zeroed. He was patient, informative and eagerly made a dozen adjustments as the day went on to zero in my bow. After a really bad experience under the previous ownership, and upon hearing that double G archery was under new ownership I decided to give them another shot. The new Paul is super friendly and accommodating, was extremely helpful, and showed me how to use a Stringer on my recurve which I was unfamiliar with as I usually use the push-pull method. He carries feather arrows, and is ordering me a Stringer. They have a fridge stocked with drinks and the range is well-maintained. I'll definitely be visiting on a regular basis. Last year I took my son to a different archery store in Austin. He wanted to spend his money he had saved on a compound bow. I used to shoot when I was much younger and was excited he wanted to start a hobby shooting. Since it had been years, I was clueless on new technology and was looking for some help for both him and myself to get educated on what was available. They couldn't give two _____ fill in the blank about us being there. First I had to bother someone to help us and then we were shown a couple options, given a catalog and poof the guy was gone. We walked out disappointed and he decided it wasn't for him. I can't say it was because of the experience he had, but it couldn't have helped. Fast forward to now. Now I am looking at getting back into shooting and looked to find a different place to go as I will not step foot in the "other store". I went to Double G. They were busy at the time and I went back to the bows because they were tied up. Once one of them finished I was asked if I needed some help. Was probably 10 minutes. A little longer than I would have wanted, but understandable with the current customers that were there before me. Paul came to help and was extremely cordial and patient. We went over options and he picked two bows that fit what I was looking for. He checked my draw and fit the two bows for me to try. At the same time educated me on different options. My son also went with me and Paul set him up too. Had a good time and ended up spending over 2 hrs. there. In the end I ordered the bow I wanted as the exact color they were sold out on. My son started to get a little more interested again...maybe he will get the spark again. Since the purchase I have been back on 2 separate occasion, both very positive. The last time I was in they were not very busy and Kenny and Paul were manning the store. Come to find out they purchased the store from the original owner (Paul) mid last year. So, any bad experiences you had previously, I would bet won't happen again with the new owners. Check them out. I am sure you will not have a bad experience. Just to let you know, I never write reviews. When I saw the low score and read the bad reviews, I felt obligated to inform others of the change in ownership and the good experience I had at Double G. Double G Archery is geared to the bow hunter, but I was able to find 50 pound bows there, and expert service, even on bows they do not sell. Double G is good for fitting bows to children, and they have a regular league which helps archers to sharpen shooting skills, and socialize with others. They are also good with arrows, and they go to the trade shows to keep up with the latest trends in bow design. They have been on hunts to Africa, and have magnificent trophies. This business only serves their friends and family. I first went into the shop with a bow which was in rough condition to say the least, they could only ridicule and laugh. Gladly they sent me to Peacock Archery in Belton, sorry to say Mr. Peacock has since retired. In my humble opinion this is a group of buffoons serving only friends, family and those with more dollars than cents. BTW: they charge $6 per hour to shoot, there is no food, drink or other refreshment available. Their shop is empty most of the time from what I have seen. read more

Went in with a bow that was a gift and just needed the draw length and pull weight adjusted. I'm a beginner and made that known right when I walked in and started asking for some help and guidance. I was looking forward to someone walking me through a few tips and perhaps even recommendations for future purchases but all I got was a staff that made me feel like an 'outsider' from the minute I walked in with a bow brand that they don't sell (still a very well known brand) and told that it was 'set up all wrong' even though it was set up by another archery shop just 2 months ago. I am brand new to the sport and just enjoy target shooting on my land but the bowsmith/salesman made me feel like the dorky band kid amongst football jocks and made snide remarks at every question I asked. Bought some arrows and got the tuneup done and they didn't even offer for me to take a few shots on their range to try things out before I made the hour drive home. Very disappointed with the 'welcome' into the sport I got here and will be going elsewhere in the future. read more

As a bow hunter for over 30 years (started at 12) I can tell you there are two types of bow shops in the world. There are those opened by novice who wish to turn a profit and then there are those opened by true bow hunters who enjoy the sport...Paul at Double G is the latter of the two. Now for starters, Paul and I are not friends, I am a client who has purchased a bow from him and who has returned several time over the past few years to help me with issues as they arise. Most of the time this is around the month prior to opening season just like every other person out there who has a life and cant devote the true time to the things they enjoy. With this said, Paul gets slammed as a result. For the most part he is a one man show and I know for a fact he works his ass off trying to take care of everyone that walks thru his doors, but like most places, clients arrive with unrealistic expectations (I need it NOW) or they show up with a bow the bought from somewhere else and expect him to stop taking care of his buying customers, hell that doesn't happen in any other business why would a person expect Paul to do it in his. He always answers the phone, kind of annoying to be honest, but he is trying to help as many people as he can. He will talk to new hunters and old hunters alike and he sometimes is his own worst salesperson as more than once he has told me I didn't need the item I was looking at purchasing even thought it would have meant a big sale for his shop. I would recommend Double G to the serious bow hunter and the novice alike, but understand this is not a "big box store". I continue to go back to Paul as I trust him as a business man and most importantly I trust him as an expert in Archery...my words, not his as he would probably tell you differently. read more

I almost didn't go based on the reviews. Glad I decided for myself. Great bunch of guys. They could have sold me a new set of strings and cables because I thought mine were bad. Instead, they figured out it was another problem. It cost $15 instead of $130. And, they were a good bunch of people that had no problem joking and cutting up while they worked on my bow. Their indoor range is nice with moveable targets and great selection of bows. I will be using them from now on!!! read more

I had a horrible experience with the owner, who is as friendly as a rattlesnake. Didn't get his name he's not hard to miss; middle-aged, glasses, mustache and lots of attitude. I asked for help on a bow purchase and he acted like he was put out saying "I've got two or three things going at one time" and "get used to it being busy". Really? How about hiring some help and customers might just buy something if you do. I'm surprised the place stays open with the attitude he's throwing around. I've been a customer of Pauls for a couple of,years now and have become like one of the family. He started off treating me like the most valuable customer in the place. One thing though, don't come in with the attitude that he'll get to you right away if he's busy. My review is based not only on my particular experiences over the last three years but in watching how EVERYONE was serviced. I have seen the newbie, the traditional bow shooter, the compound bow shooter, as well as the crossbow shooter. NEVER has there existed an atmosphere that made one feel more important than the other and that is directly thanks to the owner's handling of every customer. I have watched as several customers came in and out of the store and if he couldn't get with someone right away - he acknowledged that customer without making the current customer he was working with feel rushed. As a female shooter, I am always even more sensitive to the environment of a typically male dominated sport. I loathe being treated as if I don't know anything, or get comments that are simply inappropriate. The first time I walked into Double G three years ago, that was never the case. Regardless if I was shopping, or shooting I have always been attended with respect and with excellent customer service. Recently I have taken to shooting my bow a whole lot more than shooting my firearms as I wanted to bow hunt. Over the last two weeks, not only has the owner worked with me to refine my skills, he has been honest with me as far as not over selling on products to trick out my bow. I walked in fully expecting to blow it out (equipment for my bow) but he actually steered me away from several purchases in favor of a couple and then coaching me on the range to perfect my skills and my setup. read more
