I took a golf driver shaft to get a tip adapter installed. The task was to remove the shaft adapter from the shaft and install a different adapter in order to use that shaft on another driver. Well, it turns out that the shaft would not fit in the new adapter, so instead of contacting me to let me know that the adapter was not a fit for the shaft and verify if i agree with shaving thw shaft tip down. The tech at the golf section decided to ruin the integrity of the shaft and shave it down to make it fit. When I told him that he ruined the shaft, his answer was that he was not told to contact me if it did not fit. Extremely unprofessional. Now, the shaft does not fit the original adapter and has a gap in the hosel on the adapterwhere its installed. I definitely will not bring my clubs there again. read more

I shop here due to there's no other place in the area to shop for golf equipment. The staff is always friendly and they always have top Some of their coupons are bottom line good but some are outright useless. My normal golf balls cost $38.99. I saw a "sale" the other where those same golf balls are guess what, $38.99. They said normal price is $43.99 I believe and that the customer was 'saving' 10%. Yea right. I no longer trust Dick's and it's pricing particularly around the holidays. They will raise prices just to say they lowered them right back to where they were and put up a bunch of signs with X% off. I bought a kayak on saturday and got a really great deal. I decided to do in store pickup, and I guess they just pulled the kayak off the floor because I don't get a box or even get it wrapped in plastic or anything to protect it or hide it (it's a gift). I spent hundreds of dollars on it and the associates were not willing to accommodate or brainstorm ideas to wrapping the item. [Even when I worked in retail we wrapped our giant items in saran wrap]. If the store can't accommodate wrapping a large item for a customer to even just protect it they should at least be willing to honor the deal I got so I could get it shipped to my house in a box. read more

Been in this store numerous times and the attitude and lack of customer service is horrible was looking for specific things and said out loud infront of 2 girl employees in the section I was in that I couldn't find what I was looking for and was completely ignored while they stood there playing on their watches and having a conversation saw a manager come out and thought great now I can get some help but instead he approached the girls and started playing around with them and acted as if I wasn't even there went to shoes to try and find help there but nobody was in any other departments a gentleman in the store shopping as well complained on how poorly the service was as he placed a few items down and walked out too sad read more

There isn't many places to go for sporting goods, Academy & Dicks is all we have in the area. While I do like Academy better due to their prices, I like coming here too. They have more choices to choose from, the staff is always friendly & helpful. Overall I really do think Dick's quality supercedes Academy's goods; just my opinion. But I'm loyal to Academy due to their lower prices. So basically you can't go wrong with Dicks. Check them out if you're in the neighborhood. read more

I needed shooting gloves, so I googled where I could find them in my area. Dick's sporting goods came up, so I drove to the next town to get them. When I got there, I started looking for them in the gun section, but didn't see them. I stopped a salesman and I was told that shooting gloves are a "seasonal" item! I asked how shooting gloves could possibly be a seasonal item when people shoot year round. The salesman told me that room had to be made for swimming supplies! Mind you the gloves are a small sized item and I can't imagine them being in the way of water wings and floaties!! I wasted my time, gas and energy to go all the way to Dick's, very appropriate name apparently! I went home and ordered them online from Amazon and had them in 2 days! I will never darken Dick's doors again! read more

I know Yelp is often used for criticism but I would like to take a moment to praise the customer service I had by phone today. The young lady who answered the phone was polite and efficient and let me know which department she was transferring me to. The lady on sporting goods understood what I was looking for and put me on hold for what I thought was a bit too long but when she came back on line she told me she had looked in two different departments but regretted she did not have what I was looking for, thanked me for calling, and asked me to keep them in mind for my next purchase.
