I have been told that this is the place to go for a Burger. I am a resident of the area. I managed to be by this location the other day and stopped in. there were only about 4 customers in the store and I was able to walk up and order right away. I went to wash my hands and returned to my chair. the burger plate arrived. Now I put my condiments on and was pleasantly underwhelmed. nothing to wright home about and not cheap either. 13 bucks = Burger -drink-fries...the beef tasted like a cheap grind and devoid of flavor, and I love a flat top homestyle burger. I ride by this place all the time but had never stopped until today. I was very satisfied with my burger and onion rings. The burger was real ground beef...not a frozen patty and my onion rings were a real onion not minced. The service was great and there is a lot of space to dine in with family and friends. They also have a food bar with vegetables, meats, cornbread or roll. I will stop at this location again someday soon to try other items. I was informed by a colleague that this was one of the best burger places she's eaten at in a while...so we decided to go explore. It is a little house located on the south side of the street on Old Cornelia Highway in Gainesville, and from the outside you'll see the big "Double D Burger Sign". There is ample amount of parking around (recommended to park on the back side or front, not side, as there is a drive through which can get full during lunch time). Inside is a large open room with tables (4 seat tables). It is a No frills type of place, and from the initial look, makes one wonder how good the food is. (try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised) The prices for the food there is amazing! for the amount of food that you get, you are paying fractional money for it. I ordered a Double Hamburger with Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, bacon, ketchup and onion rings with a drink. This came out to be $8.80 My colleague ordered a single burger with Lettuce and tomato with french fries and it came out to be $6.80 The burgers are all hand pressed burgers, made fresh. They were juicy and tasty and was very tasty for the price! (in NY, something like this would have been close to $15!) Inside, they also had some lunch specials such as hot foods - fried chicken, veggies, etc. and deserts as well (cobbler). Other foods on the menu included a Philly Cheesesteak w/ fries and drink for only $6.99 BLT, Mushroom swiss burger, fish & Chips, steak and gravy sandwich, BBQ sandwich, plus much much more. What a hamburger! First time in, ordered the double cheeseburger with everything on it and holy meat! These were fresh handmade patties like what you do at home so one patty would have been plenty. The burger was so juicy and fresh. Wish I would've taken a picture but didn't give myself time. So good! Definitely would recommend the burgers as I'm sure everything else is good but being my first time, haven't tried anything else yet. Will be back when I'm in the area! This is the type of place where the locals come to eat homemade biscuits and straight unadulterated country food. I'm not from Georgia and don't live nearby but I do work here in Gainesville and this place has the best biscuits breakfast sandwiches I've tasted so far! I order a chicken, egg and tomato biscuit and it's incredible. I call when I'm 5 min or so out on my drive into Gainesville in the mornings and they always have it ready for me when I walk in the door. The prices here are very inexpensive. About as fine a hamburger you're likely to ever eat. Hand pattied from fresh ground 80 20 hamburger. Topping are fresh. Crinkle fries are frozen. Service is agreeable. But burgers are the name of the game here. They've got a two pattied double bacon cheese burger here that is enormous. I saw a fellow eat two of them once. He now has his own personal zip code. Fun group of friendly folks work here. They've got breakfast and lunch up until 2pm. There's a side steam table with fried chicken and veggies. Double D is an East Hall staple. My favorite thing to eat here are the burgers, they are awesome! They use fresh ground beef and hand press the patties. The have a burger suite your appetite, you have the 1/3 lb Big Burger up the the double which will require a nap afterward. They also have a daily meat and vegetable menu if you are in the mood for some good home cooking. And, lets not forget breakfast! They have really good homemade biscuits, bacon egg and cheese, sausage, etc. For over 25 years If l'm in the area I aways eat here. The only bad thing about Double D is that I don't get to eat there as much since I'm on the other side of the county now. If you are in the area and they are open you should stop in sit awhile and enjoy some great food at this great little family owned and operated diner. read more

They serve breakfast and lunch. They have a country cooking cafeteria style option for lunch but the reason to come here are the hamburgers. It's a good grill top burger and their fries are good too. The building isn't new and the parking lot is a bit of pain but their burgers rival any in Gainesville. Nothing fancy just good. read more

I have lived 5 minutes away from double d burger my whole life so I have given them more than their fair share of chances to turn this place around. My family has found numerous things in the food here from flies to broken toothpicks and hairs in our food. This is lunch and breakfast these items have been found in. I have gotten food that is under cooked or burnt from here. A couple of my family members quit eating here because they believe they got food poisoning from here. Some of my friends who no longer eat there told me there are a lot of drug addicts working there now. I've only ate the breakfast here. Pretty good. Sausage egg and cheese biscuits, chicken egg and cheese and hash browns. Ordered my food through the drive-thru very convenient when on the go. The staff is always very friendly. The biscuit are homemade. They accept credit card. Which is a plus for a mom n pop type of shop. Looking forward to trying there burgers but I can never catch them.
