I was really disappointed in this place after I ordered cupcakes from purchasing a groupon/living social type voucher. Problems:
1) Took her over 24 hours to respond to my email.
2) Between the website, the email I received, a voicemail, speaking to her on the phone, and the sign on the door, I was given at least 4-5 different times this place was closing - utlimately I had to ask my boss to let me use PTO at the last minute to pick up the cupcakes.
3) When I managed to get a hold of her on the phone (early in the morning, asking to pick up cupcakes that evening), I was very flexible, just asking to get whatever would be available, I was totally ok with an assortment. She made it sound as if there were no cupcakes in her store to put in a box (isn't youre store called a "cupcakery?" You're out of cupcakes before 10 on a Thursday?). For instance, I asked what was available, and she listed several flavors. I said "oh, (whichever) flavor sounds great!" She then said it wasn't available.... umm, what? Are we having the same conversation? Finally she agreed to put an assortment in a box. I was literally willing to take anything.
4) I picked up the cupcakes, the owner was friendly in person, I thought everything would be fine and maybe I just caught her on an off week. I put the box level in my car and drove a mile home - at which point it became clear the cupcakes were not cooled before the icing was applied, because the icing had literally slide off over half the cupcakes. Even though I drove slowly, carefully, and with the box level.
I still brought the cupcakes in to share with coworkers, though I made sure to pick some up from food lion so their would be pretty ones available for my friend's birthday (as in, prettty because I didn't have to try to reapply the icing with a kitchen knife/spatula, and that didn't flip over due to the cheap packaging during my longer ride to work) . Again, I had driven carefully in, but one of my friends literally thought I was in a car accident because the cupcakes were all over the place (can't stress how crappy the cardboard packaging was). Several people tried both and said the Food Lion ones tasted better anyway.
I hate leaving crappy reviews, but I couldn't let this one slide. Hope others have had better experiences. read more
