On July 4, my MacBook Pro stopped working. I took it to the Apple Store service desk and they said it was unrepairable and that I should purchase a new laptop. Having just finished paying for the expensive laptop, I wanted to explore all avenues for repair and took it to a shop the Apple Store recommended as a "last chance" option. This shop also said the computer was unrepairable. I then went to Dot Calm (should have gone there first!) and while the repair was expensive and took time because the motherboard had to be ordered and replaced, the cost of repair was less than replacement of the computer. Absolutely The Best! I had an iPad that hit the concrete floor of a convention center and splintered the screen into a million pieces. I took my iPad to Dot Calm on Mon around noon, and I had a brand new screen within a couple of hours! I could have picked it up sooner (in an hour or so, but I had to work around my workday schedule). The customer service was great, the pricing was excellent, and I was fully operational within no time. I just love these guys! This is my second time using them. Had an issue w/my laptop communicating w/the printers. Made an appointment across town @ Best Buy-Geek Squad. After waiting 15 minutes past the appt time, the Geek announced he would have to make a $99 service call to where the printer was & never looked @ my laptop. Here's why they saved my day and why I'll definitely use them again: - Convenient scheduling/great hours/responsive: Called the morning of a holiday when my computer mysteriously shut down and wouldn't turn back on. I like how they had a real person and not an automated system/computer only scheduling system. They said, simply come down and they'll take a look. - Transparent repairs: In the waiting area, you can actually see the people working on your computers. Even though they were clearly busy, they asked how urgent my need was - I had to deliver a project using my computer by EOD and they moved my request up to the queue. I was in and out of their office in 30 minutes. They provided very clear feedback on what may have went wrong with the computer/what to avoid in the future. - Reasonable pricing: I'm sure their costs fluctuate depending on the repair - but let's just say, I walked in with a computer that didn't work and walked out with one that worked in less than an hour and the bill was under $100. TERRIBLE. Myself and a friend on Aug 21, 2020 2:30 pm went in to get an iMac repaired. within 2 MINUTES of it being handled by a dot calm associate, it was dropped and cracked as a result of mishandling. The crack punctured the monitor screen and you can inside of it. This is absolutely acceptable at a computer repair business and both associates where not even sure of how to even handle the computer. read more

Took my iPad to dot calm to repair an issue that had rendered it useless--a dent had appeared near the volume button causing the volume icon to constantly show on the screen. The young lady fixed it before my eyes in about 3 minutes all only a few hours after having her wisdom teeth pulled out. It was quite impressive! I had a problem with my laptop that I had been troubleshooting for weeks. I updated everything, read online help, etc. and nothing solved the problem. I finally brought it into Dot Calm and after a few days they had it up and running. Took a while (but this was during a disaster flood event) but I completely understood. Communication with them was easy, although emails and texts get duplicated and repetitive. The laptop issue has been solved once and for all and I enjoy using it again. Never refer anyone to Dot Calm! They've had my Surface 3 laptop for over 6 weeks! Mistakenly thought it was a Samsung; then actually looked at the device & realized it was a Surface product. Over a week to tell me it was the battery & would have to order another one. Then, shattered the screen trying to install battery.Initially, the lady tried to say that's the way I dropped it off, but I brought a witness with me. After getting put on hold, finally came back on the line & said they'll replace the screen at their expense. Ordered screen & put it back together, only to advise that the "touchscreen " wasn't working. It's now been 4 weeks & the email suggested that the power cord had been "rammed" or "jammed" into the device & wasn't sure if they could repair. By now, it just starts sounding like one lie after another. I decided to purchase a new computer. Finally, week 5, offered to transfer my hard drive to a flash drive, they'll return the battery & screen to manufacturer for credit. I can pick it up whenever I want. Week 6, go by to pick up whatever is left of my computer. Just got back from there & they STILL have not done the transfer to a flash drive! Proceeded to ask if I'd brought the new compute with me (as if I'd let them touch that one, after all they've done!). Then, wanted to know if I brought a flash drive with me. (Um, no! I was told Dot Calm would do that.) Told me it would be a few minutes & I could wait. After about 10 minutes, came out & said it'll take longer b/c he needs to remove the battery after the transfer, so he can return it. read more

Delivered a PC (WIndows 7 Home Premium OS) with suspected malware or hard drive issues causing very slow performance on the device. Dot Calm diagnosed the issue as a matter of bringing the OS up-to-date on all patches and fixes and did a general dust cleaning of the computer. The computer was ready for pickup in about 2-3 days after it was dropped-off for service. After servicing, the computer performed well. The pricing was very reasonable - less than $70. My computer crashed over vacation. I went to Rent-a-Nerd for help first, and then to Dot Calm for a second opinion. The differences between the two businesses in terms of professionalism and customer service couldn't be more different. When I dropped off my computer at rent-a-nerd, I called back the next day to see what they found and got an extremely vague answer. When I dropped off my computer at Dot Calm, I got a call within five hours with a preliminary diagnosis of the problem. The technician interviewed me thoroughly to make sure understood what I wanted and the context of the computer crash. They send me updates via email until they had a final diagnosis (which I got within three days). They sent me a follow up email two weeks after to see how my computer was doing. I ended up having to buy a new computer (not their fault), but I was sill really impressed. I'll be a repeat customer. read more
