Bento box with beef

Great experience at DosiiRoc. Coming from the West Coast, where great Asian restaurants are everywhere, this place was a very pleasant surprise. The food was authentic, delicious, and fairly priced--you can tell they care about quality. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in, with staff that were friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The restaurant was also easy to find, and the ambiance was modern, minimalist, and very clean. Overall, DosiiRoc is the real deal and definitely a spot I'd recommend to anyone looking for great Asian cuisine.

Probably one of the best little fast food korean places in Rochester. Tried this place twice and each time, service was fast. There were just a few banchan dishes, but the food makes up for it. We tried a bibimbap and a creamy carbonara kimchi udon, both of which were tasty. It's a casual cafe area and great for a quick meal when you're shopping or in the area.

Stopped by to try this place right after it opened. Small cafe where you order at the counter, they serve you at your table, and you pay at the counter afterwards. Dishes are on the pricier side. We all got different coffee and fruit-based drinks and they were delicious. Side dishes were delicious but small and they only come with rice dishes - I'm not sure if they offer refills. We got a small tangsuyuk to share and it was good. The best dish was the bibimnaengmyeon. The sauce was wonderfully balanced and way better than any other place we have tried. We've added this to the rotation of places we hit up whenever we visit Rochester.

Great "new" Korean restaurant. Fast casual, order at the counter with a pretty expansive menu including rice dishes, noodles, Korean pancakes and stews. They also have a variety of drinks and coffees as well. I just went for lunch today and left impressed. I ordered their beef bulgogi bento box which came with a little bit of everything: bulgogi, rice, japchae noodles, salad, cucumber kimchi and pieces of pancake. Lots of food for $16. Also ordered the veggie pancake, tteokbokki and the fried mandu. My friend also ordered the Korean boneless fried chicken. Everything was good. Nitpicking a bit, but the pancake could have been a tad bit crispier. Also not used to having boneless chicken, but it was good (albeit white meat) and generously portioned as well. It was a great "first look" for me and I will definitely be back in the near future.

The staff was really friendly. The ambience is casual. The menu is at first overwhelming. However, after you decide what you want the food came out hot and efficiently. The food was absolutely delicious. I will be visiting the restaurant again.

Lovely spot, Fun delicious drinks and INCREDIBLE Jjigae that is not afraid to actually be spicy! Wonderful and personable staff as well!

Top Korean restaurant in Rochester hands down. It is easily my favorite spot. I have already been here 3 times in the last week. Currently, I believe they have special hours for their soft opening, so I suggest calling or checking their instagram before stopping by to make sure they are open, especially if it's a holiday. I believe their current hours are 11am-2pm closed from 2-4 and open again from 4-9pm Tuesday-Sunday and closed on Monday. However, this may change as they staff up. Small note, they get busy on the weekends so either call before showing up to ensure you aren't surprised by how long it takes you to get your food, and I suggest ordering in the store, then taking a stroll by the nearby businesses and/or stopping by the nail salon. The service is so friendly and warm. I love how clean and organized the restaurant is. Sarah who works the front is just the absolute sweetest. She is professional and helpful if you are indecisive (like me). Food is authentic and you can tell it is homemade. I like how it isn't heavy and the ingredients are fresh. You can tell they don't cut corners like other restaurants. Honestly, I've been to all the other Korean restaurants here in town, and some are okay but others I could only take one or two bites before having to toss it out. I know that everything here is great, so go with your cravings or lean into your adventurous side and try something new. As someone who spends most of the time in California near my Korean mom, I love how now Rochester has this taste of my home away from home. I need to eat Korean food often to stay happy, so I am so excited for Dosiiroc's success and popularity.

this local spot was recommended to me so I went with a few friends. Upon walking it the place is really quaint and clean but the staff that greeted us was so warm and welcoming! She took great care in listening to our parties needs (one has a shellfish allergy) and made sure everyone in the staff/kitchen knew so that they were comfortable and safe! We love when people take food allergies seriously! We sat at one of the tables and we given some banchan which was a nice mini appetizer prior to our meal. We also got the Korean pancake and tteokbokki as a starter and both were great! Our individual meals came out pretty fast and were great, very flavorful not overly spicy ! Overall really nice experience and definitely would come back again!

FINALLY, amazing authentic Korean food in a casual setting in Rochester! I visited with a friend on a Saturday for lunch at around 130 and it was busy. The name is a fun play on "도시락 (dosirak)," a Korean lunch box (similar to bento). Please note that they are in a soft open phase as I write this and are not fully staffed. We were told ahead of time it would be 45 mins to an hour wait to get food, but we didn't mind, because everything on the menu sounded so good! The mom and daughter team who own and operate DosiiRoc were very friendly and I heard them answering any and all questions people had about the various items. They have a huge variety of drinks (including coffee and lattes), small plates, and entrees. I ordered the bulgogi beef box (comes with two sides of the chef's choice, japchae [glass noodles with veg], salad, and rice) and gim mari appetizer and my friend got the tteokbokki app and dolsot bibimbap. Everything was SO GOOD! We also received several banchan (napa cabbage/baechu kimchi, radish salad [moosangchae], garlic sprouts, spicy cucumber [oi muchim], broccoli, and braised black beans [kongjan]), which is Korean for "side dish" and is complimentary with the meal. The bulgogi beef box was a ton of food and I had leftovers to take home. The banchan I received were potato salad and more oi muchim, my favorite. The beef portion was very generous. My friend loved her dolsot bibimbap (hot stone bowl) but wished there was a bit more beef. This is also the only place in Rochester that I know of that has gim mari, fried glass noodles wrapped in seaweed (gim) -- it is delicious and I highly recommend! One order came with five pieces. The tteokbokki was also generously sized and tasty. Lastly, we ordered peach ades and I also got a small can of sikhye, a sweet rice drink (just try it -- it's very good!). The ades are delicious and refreshing. I really loved everything I tried and am looking forward to coming back regularly! Like I stated before, keep in mind it's just the two owners right now and they're in soft open phase, so there may be some wait times and kinks to work out, but overall this place has amazing food.

Seafood Pancake and Bulgogi DesiiRoc Box

Had a great experience here. Immediately after walking in, I was greeted by a very friendly gentleman. He explained, you place your order at the register, seat yourself with a provided stand with your order number, and your order gets brought to you. I decided to opt in for the Bulgogi DesiiRoc Box with an added fried egg. This box included the bulgogi beef, a couple sections of a Korean pancake, pickled radish, japchae, spicy cucumber salad, marinated bean sprouts and white rice. I found the portion size to be perfect. The bulgogi was flavourful alongside with everything else. The banchan were also great. As for her, she ordered a seafood pancake which is different from any Korean pancake I've had. Instead of being a very crispy batter all around, the consistency was bouncier and more mochi-like. This isn't a bad thing and is different but in a good way. Overall, a great experience and I would gladly return to try other items.

The spot has that old-school Chinese takeout vibe: simple, clean, and focused on flavor, not flash. --- What I Ordered: General Tso's Chicken Shrimp Lo Mein Crab Rangoons Egg Roll Steamed Dumplings --- General Tso's Chicken: Sweet, spicy, and crispy - exactly how it should be. The sauce had a good kick without overpowering the flavor. Chicken was tender inside with that golden crunch. Easily one of the best in the area. Shrimp Lo Mein: Noodles were cooked just right - not too greasy, not too dry. Shrimp was fresh and had good bite. Could use a little more garlic or soy for depth, but still solid. Crab Rangoons: Creamy, crunchy, and packed with flavor. These were a hit. You get that satisfying crunch with the creamy crab filling - not overly sweet like some spots do. Steamed Dumplings: Soft and juicy with a flavorful pork filling. Dipping sauce was on point. Not doughy, just right. Egg Roll: Golden and crispy with a nice balance of cabbage and pork inside. Great with the duck sauce. --- Pros: Big portions, great value Fast service Hits all the nostalgic Chinese takeout cravings Clean and well-packaged Cons: Lo mein could use a little more flavor Limited seating (best for takeout) --- Final Verdict (8.9/10): New Number One Chinese Restaurant is bringing the heat. Classic Chinese-American dishes done right. If you're craving comfort food that hits every time, this place delivers - literally and figuratively. Perfect for a late-night boss fight meal or chilling after a long grind. Let me know what YOU always order from your local Chinese spot - and drop your suggestions for the next food battle

There were fairy lights, small lamps, and quiet instrumental music playing in the background. It sounded very similar to the soundtrack of Hyrule Field in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The food was tasty and very authentic! Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about celiac disease and cross contamination. Everything on their menu is clearly marked if it's spicy and/or can be made gluten free, too! They have a big selection, and if my family's meals were anything to go by, everything is great. If I lived anywhere close to here, I would be a regular. Here are pictures of some (not all) of their menu pages.

Both qualities that I tend to like as long as a restaurant is clean... and Chen's was. The food was decent but nothing special. The garlic sauce didn't taste like garlic... More like brown sugar really. The sweet and sour wasn't great either. To be fair, the friends that we went with loved their dinners. The killer was the rude server. We had barely finished eating and weren't planning to linger but apparently finishing our drinks and chatting for five minutes was a bit too much for him. He told us that there were customers waiting and that we had to leave. I might note that there were a few empty tables at that time but even if there weren't that poor behavior was uncalled for. We won't be going back to Chen's.

While visiting on a cool night, the Dan Dan Noodles sounded really appealing to me, and they did not disappoint! The bowl was a large portion with a good amount of noodles and tender, juicy ground pork. The broth was hot and spicy, but also flavorful...the heat was not too overpowering for me. I was very happy with my meal, but also happy to taste some other items we got to share. Edamame always seems like a good way to start a meal...these were overly salted for my liking. The scallion pancake was okay...a little small with just four thin pieces. More successful were the namesake dumplings. I really liked their versions of Xaio Long Bao - both the original pork and shrimp varieties contained delicious broth and fillings. We also shared the pork and chive dumplings, beef dumplings, and pork and corn dumplings...and we would order all of them again! The orange chicken was also an enjoyable dish to share, and good way to add some variety to the plethora of dumplings. I'm sure they get a lot of young customers from RIT and UofR, and the music catered more to this audience - it was a bit loud for my preference. But, service was very good and it is a fun casual environment to enjoy some good, reasonably priced chow with friends!
