Amazing Indian chaat food served right in the heart of Tracy and as well is very cost efficient ( if catered). The order contained bhel puri , Dahi paapdi chaat and Gobhi Manchurian respectively. From a place that is probably known most for its Dum Biryani or the Dosa I was not hoping a lot from these chaat items. To my utter surprise these were so wonderfully done that I definitely am going to pay a visit to the restaurant as well. Gobhi Manchurian usually when catered gets soggy and collects water droplets which was not at all the case. Very wonderfully done and people were left asking for more :) . Bhel puri was an absolute hit and tasted as crispy and crackling ad it would have at the restaurant. Pretty magical indeed!! Last but not the least Dahi paapdi chaat had a decent flavor as well though amongst the three this would come a close third. I was in the area with my family and we decided to have lunch here. We ordered dosas, vadas and biryani. Food came out relatively quickly and was all neatly packed up in plastic boxes. I was surprised and reminded them that we opted for dine in and not takeout. They informed me that this is how they serve food even for dine in customers. Paper plates and plastic spoons were available for self service if needed. I was appalled, not because of the self service but because of the over use of toxic plastic. I avoid take out to avoid plastic so what's the point of doing dinein in this case? Keeping that aside the food itself was reasonable. The vada was a tad bit undercooked in the center though. The chicken 65 biryani which has now cemented its place as a popular dish across most South Bay Indian restaurants was good as well without being overwhelming spicy. read more

We stopped by to grab some dosa, this being the only South Indian restaurant in the area. We took the Mysore and Madras masala dosa and were disappointed by how bad it was. The dosa batter had fermented more than it should have leaving a sour taste while the masala dosa had no masala - just some potato filling. You would expect that a place with dosa in its name would make that their signature dish, but no dice. The chutney and Sambar were average at best and didn't really complement the dosa despite trying hard. We did have some biryani from here about 3 months ago and remember it being very very average. Service was ok and the music was annoying (almost sounded like a ploy to get people to do takeout). All in all, wouldn't recommend and suggest a trip to San Ramon or something if you want reasonable South Indian food. Review is for dosas only. The best dosa I tried here was the madras dosa which not only had the potato filling but also had fresh cilantro, onion and tomatoes which gave it a fresh taste. Sambar is ok. And side chutneys are also ok. Is this the best dosa ihve ever had, absolutely not. Is it the best Ihve had in Tracy, a close yes. So I'll take it. The place is very casual. There are no actual plates, everything is in paper plates and plastic cutlery. They charge extra for additional sambar and they serve hot sambar in plastic container. This restaurant is located where the Deli Delicious used to be. We came on their opening day close to their opening hours. There was already a long line, and a huge backlog of phone orders. This was to be expected in their grand opening day, as they advertised half-off their prices. With such a good deal, we wanted take the opportunity to try another place in the growing town of Tracy. Due to COVID, we had to take our order to-go. This is when our experience started to fall apart. We had ordered a fair number of items and were told that there was a 40 minute wait time. This is fine as I knew they'd be busy, even though we only came in roughly 30 minutes or so after they opened. However, the wait ended up being over an hour and 10 minutes long. The worst part is that they ran out of an item we ordered. This would be fine if they told us this as we ordered, or maybe even a couple of minutes in, despite us being one of their first customers who placed the order. But we were told about an hour later. This shows a negligence on inventory checking on their part, as well as service to customers. After we got the food, things fared a little better. The food itself is a bit more on the mild side compared to other options in the area. This isn't meant in a bad way, as many consider the spiced in Indian food a little too overwhelming. My kids were able to eat the food more easily at this restaurant than other Indian locations. That being said, the mild flavors aren't to my preference. One thing they did get terribly wrong was the Naan. It tasted hours old, and wasn't completely wrapped when it was brought to us. Typically Naan is served fresh at other restaurants, but it was barely warm when we received it and had a very firm texture that made it difficult to chew. Overall my experience was okay, but not great. This restaurant could use a little bit more fine tuning in keeping track of their inventory, and making sure to keep their customers in the loop. Otherwise once their grand opening discounts are off, they'll face tough competition as their competitors offer more at a lower price with superior service. read more

Wish I could give 0 or half a rating just to have prepared food on time. Recently we made a party order for veggie biryani and asked paneer to be included in a 3/4 tray. They added a total of 5-6 pieces of paneer in the 3/4 tray order. And filled in with 2-3 lbs of potatoes instead. It was more like potato biryani. It left such a bad impression on the guests that I should get a refund for the order. On top of that kofta was burnt and they still had the audacity to deliver the burnt kofta and took money from us. The food isn't freshly made. It's store bought than warmed up. We got naan and butter chicken which were both bland in taste because it's wasn't fresh authentic. All the tables are a mess and dirty, they have signs in every corner "self serve" or " clean up after yourselves " but I guess nobody does. There's a kid working the front desk and he was friendly. Terrible service. They never pick up the phone to take order and average time if you order there is at least 30-45 minutes. Even if you order from the limited stuff that's available from the menu, there's no guarantee you'll actually get it as someone might order before you and it might over before your order gets processed 45 minutes later and they don't want to cook more. Even the stuff that we end up getting was wrong. We got Chicken chilly instead of paneer chili and she said this is gobi manchurian. What? Quality of food was also bland. While the good is decent for Tracy, the service is absolutely trash, the lady behind us with kids asked the person at the counter to please clean the table, and she was told that you can clean it yourself. Really rude, the restaurant is self service, you have to go up to order and get your food, if the person where you were sitting had a messy table - you get a messy table, they do not clean, and they expect a tip at the end. All the food here was ridiculously good! I was a bit skeptical initially looking at the name of this place - but I went here with a big group of coworkers are we all loved it. Being Indian, I'm pretty picky about my dosas but their dosas were all ridiculously on-point, specifically the podi dosa and the Mysore masala - perfectly spiced and on point. The coconut chutney was yummy too. Additionally, the papdi chaat was delicious too - and the chicken biryani was spicy but truly delicious! The butter chicken biryani was even better than the regular biryani. The owners were super nice - very polite, superrr quick service (despite being 15 people) and even gave us complimentary gulab jamun! Definitely go check this place out - 100% worth it. read more

We wanted to try something new after church, and this place was very close and anew place to try. We walked into the restaurant and were hit by the smell immediately. The place doesn't give the impression of clean at all. As an Indian restaurant, it was full of Indian people, which we thought was a good sign of the food, so we decided to stay. I was struck by the walls with taped-up signs saying "Before you leave please clean up" at every table. "Self Service" papers taped to the walls were also odd. The front counter is messy, with things stacked and spices spilled. Napkins laying on the floor. A staff member came in and threw his backpack on the shelf behind the counter. There are no descriptions on the menu, and so Yelp helped us by seeing some pictures. We asked able the kinds of dosas, and the gentleman quickly read off the names, with avery heavy accent and no further explanations. We ordered the mild Masala dosa and the fish Pakura. It took awhile for the meal to come. The dosa had 3 different sauces, all had spice to them, as did the "mild" dosa, so know this if you don't like spicey. It was fine for us, but some would say it was very spicy. The fish was fried well and were like a little fritters. Another sauce for the fish also was a little spicy. Mango lassies were good. I give the 2 stars for the food, but the service, cleanliness and smell of the place take off 3. We left with the smell of the restaurant strongly on our clothes and hair. I wanted to get authentic South Indian food and being a vegetarian my options were limited but I was happy to see a variety of dosa, biriyani and chaat in the menu. The food was to-go and the person at the desk was very polite and welcoming. The Gopi Manchurian was ok and I liked it. The Malai kofta was good as well and it had a South Indian touch to it. However the naan was too dry and looked like it was bought from Costco. The panner was not cooked with the biryani and looked like somebody forced them to be together for the sake of it's name - Panner Biriyani. The rose milk was too diluted and was just ok. Tried this place for the first time. We ordered fish pakora, plain dosa, channa Bhatura and let's just say everything was nasty and full of oil. Bhatura was made with naan dough channa lacked flavor. Fish pakora was oily and some guy came from the kitchen and asked is if we wanted to try some other fish appetizer because he said it was better. Went to this restaurant, I waited 15 minutes for someone to come out and take my order, once someone came I ordered my food and told them I'll have it here. I ordered a simple dosa. I sat there and a mother and son were behind me who ordered a vast array of food. I watched as they were served before me and no one checked in on me. I sat there waiting for some reassurance that my food is on its way. I went to the counter after 45 minutes to ask and I said can you please just pack my food because at this point my hunger was finished and I was already done with the place. I ordered water as well but no one came to serve me any water. Hospitality needs work at this place. Everyone ignores you and it seems like the customer is not their priority.
