Summary: Okay Mexican fare from a large menu. This is the sibling to the same named O'Fallon, MO restaurant, so you'd think all things should be equal. Now that we've been to both this location just seemed a little less...primo...than the other. The Troy location is much larger and in a much busier area. We didn't do a side-by-side menu comparison, but it also has a large lunch/dinner menu of standard Mexican entrees and sides. There's also a lengthy list of value priced lunch items. Arriving just before 1:30pm on a weekday, we found the lunch period still very busy. That could account for our perfunctory service. Our service was more of a hit and run. Breast chicken in quesadillas and tacos was overcooked and lacked any moisture. Salsa and sour cream helped the entrees but the meat was still too dry. Portion size was ample, making the meals good values at the lunch pricing. read more

Loved the food and service! Have eaten there multiple times in the past couple weeks. I was sick and in the ER a few weeks back, and haven't been able to keep food down. When I arrived in the area I was still unable to eat much of anything. I had to take a prescription, antacid, and pepto before every meal or it was bad. That wasn't the case here though! Good food, standard Mexican-American fare. Lots of options. Good serving sizes and fair prices. Our waiter was very friendly. I did take off a star because the bathrooms lack changing rooms. If you need a place to change your baby, you'll have to find somewhere else. This was a bummer for us as we stopped here on our way through Troy. read more

We stopped at DOS Primos in Montgomery City, MO while traveling. I am rating this establishment a 4 based on the food which was very good. I had the chicken chimichanga and it was delicious. It was a Thursday so I had the Margarita Special, a medium for $5.50 and it was absolutely delicious and rather large for the price. I've had much smaller margarita's for higher prices in other establishments. The only reason I didn't rate DOS Primos with a 5 was because our table was not clean and the restaurant itself lacked atmosphere and the interior was not aesthetically pleasing. But the food and drink were well deserving of my rating. read more

If you are looking for Mexican food that is shallow and pedantic then this is your place! I ordered the taco's one each of chicken, beef, and pork. They were equally unseasoned and tasteless. The pork taco had some very fatty meat as well. If the chef would season the food this place could have potential. They were busy but well staffed. I saw my waiter when I ordered and once again when I made him find me at the register so I could get my check. Women at counter asked how everything was. I said it was just okay (Which was being kind by the way). She responded with a short "Sorry" and didn't inquire as to why it was just okay as if they could had cared less. Other than that the two screaming babies on the other side of the wall made for a nice dining experience overall. On a plus side the prices were not too bad. If they charged more they could probably afford to buy some seasonings and spices. I will probably not be returning for any follow up meals. read more

Absolutely the WORST food we've ever had. The taco salad was watery at the bottom, our eggs were burnt, topped with grease and a nasty red sauce. Needless to say, took one bite and didn't eat anything else. Even the rice and beans were horrible. They were also blaring rap music from the kitchen... Horrible place to choose for Mexican. Bad customer service attentiveness. Hard to get refills, napkins, silverware etc. Food is super salty (all dishes ordered). You wait and wait for your bill. The ac vents drip on the tables, benches etc. This places has been disqualified from from a Mexican food choice. read more

When I first moved to Troy, this was my go to for dinner out, but has really gone downhill. The set up has never been great because the entry is right next to where you pay, so it is often blocked. Also, our last visit the tortilla chips were burnt! Not just one basket either. The main problem though is their customer service. It is basically nonexistent. Had lunch here this morning at 11:30 am, and there were a few patrons. When I entered I was promptly seated. Ordered Iced Tea, and a few minutes later I ordered the Chili Relleno, Lunch Special #10, with rice, and beans(frijoles). Food was fine but needs more seasoning, especially the Ground Beef inside of the Relleno. Okay meal, nothing disappointing like some previous comments had described. Again more seasoning on their food, at least the meal I got. Finally I must say one more thing, the Manager who rung up my bill should smile. To me it seemed like he was annoyed. Don't go when they are busy, no one instructed them on business etiquette. We stood for 5 minutes and were totally ignored. not one person even said hello to us. Once the lady at the register (5ft away) finally acknowledged we were there asked us to hold on for one minute, then the phone rang and we were back on the total ignore plate. Finally a young guy asked us what we wanted.. I replied we wanted to eat, he looked around and said "Uhhh, well..... we are kinda busy.. I dunno... Literally, he did not even care. We were a party of 5 and behind us a party of 2, that party left and when we left the lady at the register asked the guy who was trying to somewhat tell us he did not care if we left or not, "what happened" I walked out the door and turned around at which time she was explaining to the lady at the register "They will be back" It was at this time I explained to her "What Happened" and then told her she was wrong... This place has been on the steady decline! The kids took me there for my b day around 8pm and there was only one other table of dinners so I thought great we will have so prompt service.....wrong! Food came out, finally the drinks and the waiter never showed back up. Matter of fact none of them were visible they were all in the kitchen. The food took forever to receive (a bean dip and a chicken nachos) then as he delivers the food the server tells us he doesn't know WHY the menu says chicken nacho with vegetables because they don't make it --- why wouldn't you TELL me that when I ordered? Not even going to give them 1 star. We went on June 30th. We were seated. I tried to order a steak nachos and wanted sour cream on it. Was told I couldn't have it, so I ordered a taco bowl, big mistake. Tasted like they poured 10 salt shakers on the meat not edible Also tried to order my second strawberry margarita and was told they were out. A Mexican restaurant out of margaritas. Dos Primos is a good place to go to meet friends for Margaritas. The food is average. You get quite a bit of food for the money. The wait staff is friendly. I have to agree, the register is located in a bad place, the door is crowded from people arriving and people paying their checks. The hostess is not the friendliest and it takes awhile to be seated sometimes. Overall, Dos isn't on my top places to eat, but in Troy, MO there is not a big selection of restaurants. read more

Their seafood dish gave my mom food poisoning tonight. When I called to let them know so that they don't make anyone else sick, the woman who is always at the counter could have cared less. Her response was that they don't do anything about that unless you go to the hospital & bring paperwork in. I found that to be an odd response as I didn't ask for anything. I just wanted to tell them so they didn't get anyone else sick. There wasn't an apology or any concern that the restaurant just gave someone food poisoning. Stay away from this place. OK Peeps ... Mexican is my middle name and I am here to say Dos Primos is a weekly thing for my friends and I. They have great service. Food is pretty good. I have had better. However their fast and friendly service keeps bringing us back. They even know our group by name since we come in there so much!! The prices are good and the margarita's are the BOMB!! Worst service ever. The person that seated us appeared to be the manager. He didn't say a word. Tossed our menus down and walked away. We waited about 15 minutes. Never had a waiter come over. Never even got our drink order taken. I'm pretty lenient on service when the place is busy but it wasn't that busy. I could see 4 employees standing behind the counter watching the soccer gamefor at least 10 minutes straight. Left, went to Chihuahuas and it was so busy we couldn't even get a parking spot. This used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant. Great food and so-so service. On Sunday evening, March 6th it became our least favorite. First off, we asked for non smoking and they seated us in the smoking section. The complimentary nachos were borderline burnt. It took forever to get our food. When we got it we were very disappointed. My nachos were burnt and the whole dish tasted bland. My wife got a dish specifically because it had beans. Guess what? No beans. Nothing tasted good and the service was even worse than usual. We will be looking for a new Mexican restaurant. read more
