I had the pleasure of having a birthday brunch there this past Sun. The service was great and the food better. The price and selection of the mimosas the BEST ever. They had peach, pomegranete and traditional. The food was amazing! I had the Frankie skillet and it was divine. I hadn't had a poached egg in YEARS so I was kind of scared...if you know me everything I had on a regular basis as a child I run from and my grandmother made poached eggs ALL the time. Being a Native Texan I love my mexican food be it texmex or more original mexican food. Frankies is in between which is fine with me. My 83 year old mother actually recommended this place to me. I was stunned to learn its location in Richardson which I have always found to be culinary illiterate. No offense Richardson. Anywho this place is a true little treasure. The food is spot on and quite "frankly" I have not had anything I wasn't happy with. I especially like the hard chicken tacos. Simple but done right. And do not forget if you like good hot sauce to special order their more flavorful hot hot sauce. It cost a buck(I know), but its a kicker and great for your sinus. Clears you right up. Ask for it first thing cause it takes several minutes to heat it up. Yep its served warm. Too good. As for the tv's too loud during Ranger games as one reviewer said....Just ask them to turn the volume down...I did and they did. One of the brothers that owns the place is always there. The food and wait staff is awesome! Our waiter, Carlos, was super friendly and very quick with a great memory! We had a baby shower for one of my coworkers there and he did GREAT with a large group. The management on the other hand was a different story. When we called to make the reservation we talked to a man to reserve a table for 12. Instead of asking the basics like "what time, or where you would like to sit?" He asks "Well what are you getting? Dinner or just drinks? We need that space for customers so we need you out by 6." EXTREMELY unprofessional!!!! And it didn't just end there.... When we got here (it was just me and my friend setting up), he came up to us and AGAIN and reiterated "we need you out by 6". I kindly reminded him that "We are customers too". He is a short bald man who is VERY rude!!! It is SOLELY because of him that I am not rating this place with 5 stars. If this is the management they choose to select to represent, I no longer want to do business here. The wait staff is way to good for this place and needs to find work with management that conducts business more professional. I visited this place on a recommendation my very first time here my waitress was cordial. Chips and salsa came to the table almost immediately I do not care for the chips but the salsa was pretty good. I order the beef enchiladas they was fresh but not much flavor. I had two of the $3 margaritas which were definitely worth the money. The husband found this place on Yelp, and I am so glad he did. The atmosphere was great, they also have a really nice patio. We ordered the Queso- which is the white kind, and I could not stop eating it. I could have just had that for my meal. However, I kept going and ordered a Brisket Taco which was my absolute favorite. If this restaurant was in the West Village, Knox/Henderson or Lower Greenville area, it would be a much talked about food critics fav and be premium upscale food priced (vs. being reasonably priced for such good food). My wife and I had a date night at Frankie's last night and we absolutely loved the place. The service was excellent. The food was very good. The portions were large and the drinks were fantastic. We found the atmosphere to be very different than your usual Mexican restaurant. This place would be perfect for a date or just hanging with friends and family. This place is hit or miss. Which inconsistency can lead to not wanting to come back. Ordered the fajitas but I don't eat flour tortillas and asked for corn. Was charged and received one corn tortilla. The server was inexperienced and did not follow up on the tortilla issue. We asked for a box and will eat it at the house where we have corn tortillas. Ive been to frankies on multiple occasions, i always order the shrimp tacos since they always make them how i like when i specify things like grilled and flour. They do have a secret weapon here deserving of 5 stars for tex mex food, that is the MEXICAN LASAGNA, which is amazing and delicious and unique, i steal it off my mothers plate all the time, and can't find it anywhere else, its layers of either veggies or mean but both of you like, other ingredients and an amazing sauce.
