A cool little cantina... Dos Amigos Mexican Restaurant is fun, friendly, casual and the food is so good! The chips were warm and the salsa piquant but not too hot. I enjoyed the Super Lunch Special ($6.95) with the Chile Relleno, Mexican Rice and Refried Beans. The ooey, gooey Relleno was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the yellow rice magically perfumed with spices so this usually marginal, but obligatory side dish really shined. I am beyond impressed with the service at this restaurant. We had a great server with patience, and great suggestions on the menu. Assisting him, was a lady that made sure our chip basket and salsa bowls were full at all times. The salsa is amazing, so we were very grateful she was on top of it. Drinks never ran low, either. I had the enchiladas en salsa verde and they were good. They could have used a bit more green sauce, though, but were so meaty! Places usually skimp on the chicken....not Dos Amigos! The beans weren't as flavorful as I'm used to (from my fave Mexican place in Homestead), but they were still delicious. Fajitas and steak tacos were ordered by the rest of the group and, as per the empty plates, those were great, too. Having come from Southern California I would like to think that I know real Mexican food, and with a giant yes I will attest that this is the real deal. My wife and I enjoyed the table side guacamole, fresh salsa, and homemade chips. As for dinner, the enchiladas and tacos were delicious. What a delightful little gem! Great, fresh and generous portions of tasty, tender and just spicy enough food. Fresh guacamole made table side, in a huge bowl. We split a shrimp quesadilla, which was super good! I had the chicken enchiladas mole, which was spicy and rich with tender chucks of well seasoned chicken, he had the steak fajita burrito, which was HUGE and packed with really tasty tender steak and a ton of cheese. For the two of us, it was about $60 with drinks, and we left stupid full and happy with a doggie bag. And, they have Negro Modelo on tap! This was one of the worst dining experiences. We had a party of 5 adults. The waitress was either new or really bad. She was also very slow and this was at a time before the resturant became crowded. She brought one small bowl of salsa and didn't seem to notice how quickly 5 hungry adults could finish a small bowl of salsa. She got my drink order wrong. She didn't seem familiar with any of the drinks on the menu other than the margarita. The food was unfortunately disappointing given the other Yelp reviews. I had ordered first at our table and I am assuming that my order was lost or forgotten since all the food was delivered to the table and I had to remind the waitress of my food order. Needless to say, it finally arrived as every one had finished their meal. I ended up getting a to go box in order to not keep everyone waiting. I will NOT be returning for a future visit. read more

I read the reviews and really can't understand how people loved the food here. I gave it two stars because it's a descent environment but the food was a ZERO. I had a there item combo so I feel like I got a good representation of what they offered and it suuuuuuxxxxxxx. Ground beef is a Manwich slurry that was way too salty and gave me heartburn. The staff were cool. I think they are getting it right with the decor and service but the food and drinks need work. We had the margaritas and they were slightly off because they didn't get the balance of tequila and triple sec right which is hard to do when serving them in those ginormous 40 ounce glasses. I had the Chili Verde and again the flavors were a little off and the meat did not have the right texture as this dish is a stew where the pork has to be slow cooked. We also had the tamales which taste like they were store bought. The enchiladas were a little better but again the flavoring was not quite there. I really want this place to work because sit-down authentic Mexican is rare for this area. I plan to give it another try and see how it goes. read more

Based on my lunch experience, I basically have to give it five stars. It was quick, the server was polite and the food was great. The setting was nice and clean. I'd recommend chicken in your enchilada over beef or steak, as the chicken tasted pretty good but the beef not so much. Margarita was a little watered down.
