This place had some excellent mexican food options! My visit was a pure chance, and going in with no expectations and I was not disappointed. From the moment you walk in, it is a small but welcoming location with a Latin feel and decorations. The staff was warm, and came over promptly to offer beverages and chips and salsa, which the salsa was very flavorful! Upon looking over the menu, from appetizers to the combos and plates, there was a nice mix of options from chicken to steak, refried beans. The guac was very good also! The food is delicious. The owner says they don't own a freezer because everything is fresh (fridge only) and you can tell how fresh everything is! The chips, the salsa, the margaritas, the tamales, chili, tacos, enchiladas, steak.... everything! And any of the meat choices(shredded chicken, ground beef, shredded beef) are perfect and we recommend anything. Just pick whatever you feel like eating and it will be delicious! I always feel bad giving a poor review but I look to Yelp a lot so I need to be honest. I will start positive the salsa was delicious, the place is small and cute. Appears to be family run. That is where the problem start. There was not enough staff and the 2 women seemed very overwhelmed. The restaurant was only half full on a Friday night. The staff was friendly but the service was so slow. I did not have a drink so I can not comment on the margaritas but they looked big. I'm giving them only 3 stars because the food was just bland. Visited twice in the last two months and wish we could go there more often. They have amazing spinach enchiladas. Wait, they have amazing enchiladas. All of their enchiladas are very delicious and flavorful. Their spinach enchiladas is especially a favorite of mine because it is not only stuffed with spinach but peppers, tomatoes and ooey gooey Monteray Jack cheese. While you decide what to get or waiting for your food, I highly recommend getting their guacamole. They prepare it fresh right by your table and can be customized to your preference. The only thing that I would avoid is their tamales. While it is flavorful, the ratio of masa to filling was way too high so the flavor gets diluted out. The staffs are amazing. The owners are very friendly and definitely bring the baby. They love kids there! My only complain for this place is the ambiance - they need to brighten up that place a little. By far the worst tacos ever. For one they came on a hard shell. Never in my life have I seen this. Usually they come on a soft shell unless you tell them otherwise. Beene and rice were horrible. I mean cmon u can't mess that up . Well the beans tasted watered down and true rice tasted like out of a 60 sec bag. No cheese on the beans like normally all too watery. It even was so watery it wasted all on my daughter taco and made it soggy. My enchiladas ha me no flavor at all. Most Mexican places give u sauce does ur tacos nope not this one. The man who finally came to the table was very rude. Maybe they are short staffed like everyone else but waiting tables is definitely not his calling. Took quite a while to get our food and while the chips and salsa were ok, the rest of the food was another story. Portions (tacos) are very small. And I'm not sure what they put in the refried beans but I have never tasted something so awful. I had two bites and was afraid to eat the rest because they tasted rotten. Looking at the great reviews I gave this place a try. The first thing one should remember is Pompano Beach is really hurting for decent Mexican after Cielito Lindo Dos closed down many years ago. We are now left with things like Baja Cafe (cheap tacos for drunks) and honestly the Cielito Lindo on Dixie Hwy hasn't been very great for years. So hoping for a place with great Mexican food close to where I lived I gave it a shot. The first warning I might be in trouble came from the bathroom to wash up. All of the white doors were covered in dirty hand prints. And I mean dirt stains a couple feet in diameter on every door. It doesn't exactly scream cleanliness. In the bathroom itself there was no hot water. I know it's expensive to have hot water because idiots use it and don't turn the sink off and it costs a fortune, but I worry how employees clean their hands well without hot water. The dirty stains on the doors tell me they probably are not getting their hands very clean. Also not sure what I was sliding on in that hall, but it was slick enough to slide me all the way back to my table. Salsa is always a good indicator of what to expect. And the salsa wasn't that great. In fact it wasn't very good. There is a reason most places offer a mild and a spicy salsa. One has rich flavor which makes some people happy and the other has the heat which everyone else loves. There is no way to have both and make everyone happy. It can't be done. In this case the salsa was slightly spicy and the flavor was not very good and I can't imagine why anyone would like it. Looking at the pictures of things like wet enchiladas and burritos in reviews really got my hopes up. It does "look" wonderful. But taste is another thing. Started out with some super nachos, and honestly how hard is it to screw up nachos? Well I got my answer and it seems if you burn the ground beef enough it makes everything else taste horrible. So having started with burnt ground beef nachos we weren't off to a good start. The meals weren't much better than the nachos. Ordered an enchilada wet with extra cheese. I'd hate to see how dry an ordinary enchilada would be or how little cheese would be used on an ordinary one. But it was jam packed with the same slightly burnt ground beef that made the nachos difficult to eat. So the food was decidedly sub par, so how about the service? Well the food was better than the service. Our waitress actually said to just "wave at her if we need anything." I guess that is what passes for service these days, but she did save me a little bit of money when I downgraded the tip accordingly. It's probably a good thing I got crappy service and saved a couple bucks on the tip because this unremarkable food was hardly cheap. Two meals, nachos and a couple soft drinks were $40. If this was amazing Mexican food I could almost understand the prices, if I paid based upon quality of food it should have come to about $18 plus tip. I'm going to save a lot of money by never eating here again. Now just so we are clear, this isn't the worst Mexican food I've ever had. I can easily think of worst places where you have to be drunk to even eat what is being served. This is just a "not very good" Mexican place with "not very good" prices and service. read more

You can absolutely tell they care about their customers and what, as well as how, they are providing to everyone who enters their doors. We came here because like any other one of the 365 days in the year, I was craving Mexican. Their chips and salsa were good. The tableside guac was amazing. Garlicy, limey, cilantro-....we ordered the large for two of us and were licking the bowl clean. (It's easily enough for 4 people, not kidding). I ordered the seafood chimichanga and Bobby ordered the chicken mole dish. Both were good. I was stuffed from the guac and chips so I didn't finish my meal, but it was perfect because Bobby couldn't get enough of it all so took care of the rest of mine as well. But this place is definitely a step above though. Been here a few times and each time the food is great - the fish tacos (hand breaded and fried in house) and the seafood chimichanga (scallops, shrimp) are favorites. Even the house salsa and chips were addicting. The staff has been great each time as well. Never had to ask to fill waters, re-order drinks, and refill chips and salsa. The owner Miguel is so awesome! We got a catering tray with a variety of foods (chips, taquitos, enchiladas, quesedillas, nachos) and they were all so amazing, flavorful and delicious!! Very good but heavy meal with the family after a fun snorkeling trip. Seeing so many fish inn the ocean got me in the mood for fish tacos. Very tasty and a huge plate. A little salty seasoning obj the fish but very fresh tasting. Supposedly the fish is bought from local fisherman. All six plates looked good. My son ate his whole mini burrito with shredded beef. Mario was our server and was very friendly. He made some good recommendations for us. He even gave us tourists directions to some places we were looking for. Decided to check out Dos Amigos after reading some of the great reviews and they did not disappoint. We were greeted at the door by a server who led us straight to a table. The meal went seamlessly from there with staff checking in to make sure drinks were filled and chips and salsa were plentiful. Service was outstanding and the entire staff pitched in throughout the meal to make sure we were taken care of. Not overbearing, just there when you need them and extremely friendly. The food itself was also delicious. I love the option of "rancho" style beans instead of the regular refried variety you find in most Mexican restaurants. It's essentially very simply prepared pinto beans in a light sauce. Enchiladas were delicious along with the salsa. If you like spicy, make sure to ask for the spicier salsa option and mix it in. It's not for the faint of heart but very smoky and delicious if you can stand the heat. The jalapeño margarita is also a good choice for heat lovers. Overall, just a great experience from a place tucked away in a strip mall. Definitely lives up to the reviews in both service and quality of the food. You will not be disappointed. read more
