Good restaurant unfortunately not great. The owner was very nice, however the gentleman that took our order had the personality of paint drying. The restaurant really has no atmosphere and is kinda of run down. The food was good. We were not amazed by the flavors and have had better at other places. I had the lamb chops and my wife had the gyro plate. For $40 I got four very thin and unfortunately kind of tough lamb chops and a big pile of rice and salad. The flavor was good on them however, the meat was definitely tough. My wife's driver plate did have a nice portion. I live right across the street from this place and I always think about stopping in, but I never did. Tonight I ordered online and walked over to pick it up. I ordered the spinach pie/spanakopita which was very good. I ordered extra garlic sauce, although it comes with sauce. My food is ready within 20 minutes of ordering it. With all the good reviews, I was hoping to really enjoy this place. Unfortunately that was not my experience. I had been craving Greek food when I found this restaurant on GrubHub. It seems the stars aligned. I ordered the shrimp pita, the Greek fries, and baklava. Delivery Packaging: The packaging was nice. They use regular bags but ensure to staple them shut. I appreciate this with delivery The food: The Greek fries were very good. Crispy and flavorful on the outside and soft on the inside. I also I enjoyed their tzatziki sauce. Unfortunately they forgot to pack the baklava so I was unable to Try that. Now onto the not so good... overall the shrimp pita needs some rework. Typically medium to large shrimp are used in a Greek shrimp pita, however small shrimp were used in this one. Small shrimp are difficult cook to the right temperature and using smaller shrimp makes it difficult to taste against the rest of the ingredients (lettuce, onion, tomato). The shrimp were inedible, overcooked and rubbery, but the pita itself was delicious. I ended up taking out all the shrimp and added my own baked fish to the pita. We went for lunch last week on Valentine's Day Saturday afternoon. We ordered a burger, Saganaki and a falafel Gyro. The falafel's are frozen. They're not homemade which you would expect them to be at a Greek place. The burger was way smaller than it was last time we went. It was definitely not a half a pound burger. Saganashkee I must admit was good and the only good thing that we had. The guy asked me what I wanted on my side with my falafel sandwich and I said aside Greek. When we finished, we were getting ready to leave and he called me over to the register and told me I had to pay six dollars for the salad because he did not charge me. I thought it was included. He said no. I also tipped five dollars. Also, the whole meal was about $53 if I can remember correctly it was our second time there and definitely our last please avoid this place like the plague. read more

Really happy to have found this place! My family loved our gyros. Soft fresh bread piled high with the best lamb gyro meat I've had in a long time. You could definitely tell that everything was homemade and well seasoned. We were also surprised by how good the fries were and they were dusted with really yummy Greek herbs. The atmosphere was lovely and we enjoyed the mural across the walls. We got to speak with the owner who was very kind and made the experience fun for us with music. Stopped in for a quick lunch while out with an employee. We parked right in front of the shop. As we entered we were greeted. They had a good selection and prices were decent. Stopped by to pick up a lunch for me and my partner. We both got Gyro pita sandwiches, the spicy hummus, and a side of feta fries. The seasoning on the fries was fantastic, but i do wish the portion size was a bit better and that the feta was actually crumbled on top and not tossed into a corner. For reference because we ate on a time budge, it was enough thick cut fires to cover the bottom of a normal 3x3 to go container. However, that would be my only real 'complaint' i guess you could say. The hummus was some of the best ive ever had, my partner agreed. You can tell by taste and texture that its made in house and it is truly fantastic! The gyros were also so good!! Among some of the best we've had around south florida for sure. They werent overly salty or dry like most places. It was actually juicy and flavorful and the ratio of meat to veg was on point! I am writing this review as I go through the dining experience. First impressions: It's in a strip mall. The place is counter order, but table service. Family operated, mom is working the counter. Dad is in the kitchen. Son(?) is working on the computer off to the side. I explained that we had read a good review and we here to check it out. Mom is a riot! Warm, engaging, lively. In between running food to patrons, she stops to make friends with my daughters. We ordered. BE WARNED: Wednesday's you get a free order of hummus and pita bread. THIS STUFF IS LIKE CRACK. Our order is still cooking and I had to go back to order a second one. The hummus is lovely. LOTS of garlic. Not too much... the hummus is noteworthy. Ok... food is here. Details to follow. 1. Cheeseburger and onion rings split between the girls. Nice half pound burger with lettuce, tomato, etc. It was a solid offering. The burger is good, but who orders the burger at a Greek joint??? Well, kids you know... 2. Greek salad: comes with a pita cut in sections, and a big side of tziki sauce. It was decent. 3. Gyro sandwich: the sandwich is BIG. Excellent quality. Definitely worth the drive and the price. 4. Gyro platter: Oops! Probably didn't need to order that Greek salad. About 1/2 a salad worth comes with the platter. Again, excellent quality and well worth the drive and price. We added some dessert... 5. Christina (we've met now, and become old friends already) makes the Baklava heeeelf in the back. It's very good. 6. The Greek donuts... Christina explained that they wait until we are about finished with the meal to drop them into the frier. Hot, crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, topped with cinnamon and some honey liqueur. She was right... they steel the show. Oh, my god, they are so good. Along the walls of the place are photos in the form of a mural that depict the family's journey from immigrating to the US to the present at the restaurant. This place is just a heart warming, delightful restaurant that really does deliver a great plate of food, and at a great value. The family really just shines with their hospitality. I appreciated how quickly the food came out. But, probably the worst lemon potatoes I've ever had at a Greek restaurant. However, the gyro was delicious. It was also nice that when you spend $30 or more they give you a free appetizer. You don't get to choose, it's different depending on what day of the week. We visited on a Monday so it was mozzarella sticks which were good but underwhelming. Inside the restaurant was clean but definitely very warm and almost humid. Heard great things about this place- so I stopped in. I am a gyro lover & knew I had to order that! I was so happy I did! The gyro platter came with choices on the side- homemade macaroni salad & Greek salad. It was one of the best I ever had. Some gyros can be greasy- definitely not here at The Gyro Joint. I found out you order at the counter - so - they bring the food to the table. The restaurant had shelf's of wine & Greek specialties along the wall as well as their menus & specials. My recent lunch was quite disappointing from my last visit. I ordered a gyro with no onions, fries and a beverage. No big crowds or back-ups for the kitchen. The sandwich was served on a large pita and was filled with lettuce and 5 pieces of tomato but very little gyro meat! The fries were seasoned thick steak style and were undercooked. Perhaps I'll try a gyro platter next time to actually taste the gyro or try another spot closer to DT Ft. L. BTW, I'm not a huge eater but this was just too skimpy!
