This place served the weirdest eggs benedict I've ever had!
The café itself is really nice, with a photo mural of orange trees on the back wall it looks light and spacious.
The staff and service were really good, but I'm not sure what exactly it was that they served me.
I ordered the regular eggs benedict, but when my order arrived it looked quite odd. Instead of ham, there was bacon lurking under the weird looking definitely not poached eggs. Ham is usually succulent and juicy, providing a nice medium between the bread and eggs, but this bacon was dry like a bone and made the whole eating experience awkward and not very tasty as the salt was overpowering.
As you can see on the photo, there was a bright yellow sauce lightly dribbled over the eggs, definitely not the coating of creamy hollandaise I expect on this dish.
It was all quite dry and bacony, not how I like my eggs benedict at all.
I don't think I'd come back for this dish, the regular fry up looked great though, so for a greasy spoon type meal they might be just the right place. read more
