Good: Took my poodle mix for groom here for the first time and the overall experience was fine. Staffs were courteous. Picked him up after 3 hrs. Was charged $68 which is quite standard. They include nails trimming, anal gland expression, bath and cut. Nails were trimmed smoothly which i asked for. Bad: my dog would return home the first day and start to scoot. We noticed redness down his butt but it wasn't as bad since it was the first day. Over the last few days, we noticed he was very bothered and now there are scabs. The redness was deeper too. Called the groomer to tell them to put a note for future reference, and the receptionist was quite defensive and said it is normal with razor burns. She did not apologize right away until later in the call, which i don't appreciate. read more

They take walk ins for nail trimming & it's affordable & fast! The last time i went it with my small dog it was $15. They used a grinder which got the nails shorter than clipping & Newton didn't flinch or pull away! He has never tolerated nail maintenance well & there he was acting like he didn't care. read more

We have had such a wonderful experience at Dorothy's! We scheduled our Australian Shepherd to be groomed and were able to be seen the very next day after we called. (I was told we got lucky, but I still appreciated the quick scheduling!) He had some matted spots in his undercoat and needed to be deshed as well as just a skirt trim and cleaned up well. They kept him there for 3.5 hours total and did a BEAUTIFUL job. I wasn't expecting to pay so little for the service either- we were charged $70 and have previously paid much more for him to be groomed. His undercoat was preserved well, too. If I could select zero stars I would. Rose "trimmed" my chihuahuas nails and it was such a hack job I had to trim them again myself as soon as I got home. Not only was it a horrible nail trimming, the worst part was that she was bending my poor dog's legs where they should not have been and hurting her. I even yelled to stop and she just kept doing what she was doing. I am absolutely horrified. read more

This groomer is the worst in listening to the customer. I was very specific in how I wanted my dog groomed. They literally scalped her down to her pink scalp. What is wrong with you people. I now find out they did the same thing to my neighbors dogs. If you don't know how to cut a dogs hair other then scalping them you should go out of business. My dog had a beautiful wavy coat that I asked for a slight haircut....STAY AWAY FROM DOROTHY'S FOR YOUR OWN DOGS GOOD. By the way it was the owner who did the grooming. Looking for another groomer... Today I took CoCo and Oliver to Dorothy's canine groomers on fourth Street. And when I was paying the groomer came up to me and was like are you the owner of the blonde Cocker and I replied yes. she said she had a couple gnats on the bottom side of her ears and when I was brushing them it got pulled out and nicked her a little bit. I thought that was interesting because my entire life, I've had cocker spaniels and I've never had that happen but there was a lot going with other dogs and what not. so I paid and left. when I got into my truck and went to pet Coco, I saw with the groomer was saying a "tiny neck" from BRUSHING her hair was... when in fact it actually looks like she took a chunk out of her ear with clippers or scissors........ The groomer straight up lied to my face and try to cover it up..... very unprofessional... read more

Seriously the worst customer service I have received in years. Made an appointment which was 2 weeks out and bought my pet in for a 9 AM grooming. When I arrived was told that the groomer did not feel like coming to work yet and would be there later. After waiting 15 minutes still no groomer and still the same response that the groomer did not feel like coming to work. I had to leave for work and the person there said they would call me. Of course no call ever came and I wasted over an hour of my time and still no grooming. Not sure how they stay open with this attitude, take your business elsewhere. read more

I just took my pup Ziggy here today and they did such a great job. His haircut turned out so nice. He looks so clean and his hair is so soft. If you are looking to go here but are worried since it is a new groomer, just do it! The groomers here are 10 times better than any Petsmart or Petco you would take them too. Took my dog in, asked for a puppy cut to 1 inch length, do not touch/cut the tail. I was assured by the woman at the front desk that she would make sure they did not touch the tail. Went to pick up the dog. Did not get the puppy cut. Hair on back 2.5 - 3 inches long, face 3-4 inches long and they cut the tail hair. Two other groomers tried to fix it but it was a quick uneven cut. This was my second and last time going to them. They do not appear to know standard groom cuts. Puppy cut is the same length all over. Like a layered cut to us. What a waste of money. read more

Dorothy's has been my groomer of record since 2008. It's small and doesn't look like much, but it is the BEST in town. It's the ONLY groomer in town for my Service Dog. My Toy Poodle Joey is now 15 1/2 years young and has special needs. His groomer Cherie and bather Cameron treat him with the respect and gentle care he requires and earned. In fact, I personally worked with Cameron to make bathing a joy for my dog. Joey is *excited* to get groomed. Also, everything at Dorothy's is done out in the open. Helicopter Dog Mom? No problem. The groomer who helped me with my dog was so patient and understanding. My dog has never been to an environment like that before and was pretty freaked out. First we had a hard time getting her on the table but they helped and were very patient with her (and me!) as I probably got in the way and didn't know how to help. Then when she was doing the anal glands and her nails my dog was really scared by the noise of the nail file and showed her teeth a bit but the groomer never got upset with either of us and handled it with such grace and quickly so that we could get my girl off the table. Also the price was beyond fair for how good they are and also how clean the store is. I'll definitely be back for a full grooming in the future and really appreciate all of the patience they showed both of us Thank you for taking care of my girl and helping ease my anxiety about her first experience at a groomers. Last year, I brought my poodles here and they got the best haircuts they had ever had. For the whole year, I bragged to everyone that would listen about the excellent service and grooms my babies received and could not wait to come back this year. Wow was I disappointed. The receptionist was kind as ever and gave me a wonderful sympathy card for the pup I had lost. However, the groom was one of the worst my dog has ever gotten. The cut looks rushed with several long pieces left throughout his body, the ears were not cleaned, the webbed feet (which I know can be a pain) were not trimmed. It's hardly been a month and I am now searching to have him re groomed to clean up this cut. Suffice to say, I've now gotten the best and the worst at the very same place. read more

As a brand new pet owner who hasn't had animals before, I figured I'd bring my cat, Toto, in for a summer trim. I chose Dorothy's because it's a small business and I figured they would have better knowledge and practice than a big pet supply store, plus the other Yelp reviews were fine enough. Everyone was kind, but it wasn't until I had gotten there that they told me they only do lion cuts, which I later learned is apparently a controversial style and I now see why. It was like pulling teeth trying to ask for small changes to make the style look less awful and I was made to feel like I was crazy for not wanting my pet to look downright homely. Toto is a shorthair with zero matting and is very still when being handled by strangers, and as I'm standing there watching, the groomer still somehow managed to "nick" him on his knee, which she tried to remedy with superglue. Once we got home, I could see it was definitely more of a laceration as the glue didn't hold (obviously, since it's over a joint and fairly deep), so I had to make an emergency appointment with the pet hospital. I had to stay up until one in the morning and fork over nearly $400 in fees for the exam, suture, anesthesia, and medications. When I called the next morning asking for reimbursement for the haircut and help to pay the bill, I was essentially told that it was my own fault for trying to be a good pet parent and that serious cuts are not uncommon there. I was reimbursed for less than half of the bill and I'm still waiting for the haircut refund, even though I had never signed anything saying that I forfeited liability for any accidents that might occur. I expect that any small business worth their salt would at least have some basic "cover our assets" paperwork, especially if you're going to falsely claim that you're not liable. So if you're looking to have your healthy pet mangled and put in a cone with a two-week medication routine, be told "you should've known better," and pay over $50 for a shoddy shave on only half their body, Dorothy's is the perfect place! Otherwise, take them to PetSmart or buy a set of clippers and do it yourself at home; the outcome will likely look much better anyway. read more

The first time we took our Mini Goldendoodle to Dorothy's, we were very satisfied with our experience. She seemed at ease, the groomer was friendly, & we were impressed with her new cut. The second time around was a completely different experience and we ended up finding another groomer. When I walked in to pick up our pup, no one greeted me even though there were multiple women who looked at me as they were grooming other dogs. I had to speak up before I was helped. Our pup's body looked great, but it looked like someone inexperienced had cut her facial hair & ears. When we arrived home, I had to trim a few uneven hair hanging from her ears and I noticed her ears were different lengths. Our current groomer is still in the process of making both of her ears even with time. We couldn't believe the service we paid for. Multiple family members and friends commented on how uneven her ears looked without us even saying anything. Very disappointed- I would not recommend this grooming establishment. read more

My dog came home with several cuts on her female parts and I was just not pleased with the all around service or cut. The ladies are nice as well as the groomer but there were so many dogs coming in and out of that place that I feel the groomer was rushed and that's what caused the cuts on her. the best place i've ever gone to get my dog's nails trimmed. she is extremely scared of getting them trimmed bc she's been accidentally cut before at most places i've taken her to so she was very frantic the whole time but her anxiety never increased and she never seemed to be scared of the woman grooming her. the woman was very gentle and she spoke very softly and she told me what to do to make sure my dog had as much of an easy time as possible and it went so great. she even gave her a treat :)) definitely will be going here every time she needs her nails trimmed read more
