Hand made chocolate. Need I say more? Delicious ingredients and beautiful preparation make Dorothy's a go-to for my chocolate needs. These candies make the best gifts (this Christmas, birthdays, etc.).

I probably never should have stopped here... because now I'm ALWAYS going to want to stop here! I have been driving past this fancy pink chocolate store my whole life and never went inside. Today we were looking for something to do close to home when we decided to give it a try. The building looks much bigger from the outside than the store actually is. However, that dosen't mean much. Inside they have everything you could imagine! They had some things I had never seen like chocolate covered blueberries and malt balls. Of course they also had tons of fun molded shapes and all the basics like chocolate covered pretzels. I came with my husband and daughter. We left with a bunch of assorted chocolates, chocolate covered oreos, almond bark, and a dinosaur egg filled with chocolate rocks. Everything was fantastic. The coconut chocolate cup was by far my favorite. The coconut seemed to be toasted before it was put in the chocolate. The almond cup was great too. It was filled with multiple full sized almonds. I loved the fact that the chocolate wasn't too hard to bite but not so soft that it melts instantly. Also, my daughter thought the dinosaur egg was the coolest thing she had ever seen. We will definitely return! I cannot wait to try everything else they have in store!

My grandmother suggested truffles from Dorothy's Candies to replace our cookie table that we could no longer have due to COVID and it was perfect! First the truffles were amazing, we did a medley of cherry, pumpkin, rose, and original/fudge. The boxes were packaged individually with a ribbon that matched my wedding colors and a cute little note we were able to customize for our wedding! Everyone raved about how delicious they were!

    Pink building, can't miss it.

I'm surprised that I'm the first to tip and review. This shop has been around for a while, since 1948, according to the bag I received. Technically, the location is in White Oak, not McKeesport. You can't miss the building, because it's pink. There is a nice assortment of Swiss chocolates. Gummy candies and flavored popcorn are also available. I noticed that the most customers were picking up fairly large chocolate orders for work/gifts. A free chocolate sample was offered by the staff. They were nice, by the way. I came for the salted caramel toffee because that's what I look for at any chocolate shop. So, if you're not purchasing pre-packaged chocolate, you'll have to ask the price per pound to mix and match. 3 caramel toffee pieces and 3 caramel pieces cost about $7.50. I'll let you know how it tastes.

I've been buying Dorothy's candy for 50 years. It wouldn't be Easter without it.

This is a nice little hidden gem if you are not from the area and in the know. I had been…read morepreparing for an event at work and my coworker told me about this place. I was looking for bulk candy and needed some specific types of candy. Before going to the actual location I went to the website beforehand and could browse what they have. Their physical location of this store sits in a small plaza below a car dealership along Route 30. Getting here is kind of easy depending on the direction on 30 you are coming. Eastbound, easy, pull onto the road. Westbound, may god have mercy on your soul, try crossing two lanes of downhill traffic while uphill traffic behind you is just zips by or backs up. When you exit, just don't go that way, go the opposite way as it will take you where you need to be and it is much easier on your stress for the day. I don't want to state the obvious here, but you become a kid in a candy shop when you enter. The front of the store is your basic candy store with items that are singular in nature and runs the gambit. Candies that you forgot about will show their faces. Then you move towards the back of the store and enter the holy grail of bulk candy. It is rather well organized and you can find what you want quite easily. If you cannot find what you are looking for, just ask the employee back here and they know exactly where it is. I was looking for something and it was literally right in front of my face, but I kept overlooking it. I spent a lot of money here, but it was bulk candy and for an event, it was well spent money. Definitely will be my spot to go for bulk candy for work.

A visit to Kennywood's candy store is always part of my day at the amusement park! This wonderful…read morelittle shop is located in a two-level pavilion-ish building located near the entrance of the park; the lower level of the structure houses the store, while the top level is home to lockers for visitors. It can be hard to figure out what you want as you take in all they have to offer here. Homemade fudge, chocolate covered pretzels and Oreo cookies, giant peanut butter cups, chocolate cluster treats, lollipops, caramel apples...and more! Every sweet goodie you could ask for is available here. I won't pretend that this is the cheapest candy store, but considering the quality of the goodies here, the splurge is SO worth it. The homemade fudge in particular is some of the best in the city, and it's hard for me to say no to an M&M topped cup of chocolate. I always visit this little place on my way out of Kennywood. So do a lot of other guests, so the store fills up at the end of the night. For me waiting in line beats carrying sweet chocolate around the park all day, especially in the summer; but if you'd rather skip the worst of the line, you'll want to avoid a last minute visit as you exit Kennywood. Whenever you decide to go, you won't be disappointed!
