A true hidden gem bakery in the Jefferson Hills area and is right on one of the main streets in Elizabeth. This is a nice little gift store with a little bakery in the back. I loved seeing all the Christmas decor as I walked in! Now the desserts were unbelievable! I was not expecting them to be so good! I got a dozen thumbprint cookies for homecoming later in the day and also a lady lock and two donuts. Anything I tasted was awesome! The almond donut was delicious. I tried two of the cookies and WOW so good! I had the raspberry almond thumbprint and the chocolate peanut butter thumbprint and I was obsessed. I also had a pepperoni roll that was big and delicious! This is a MUST STOP for anyone in the area or anyone looking for cookies for a cookie table. I will definitely be back! read more

Barton's has been on my bakery wish list for awhile now, but their hours always prevented me from being able to visit. I was really craving baked goods yesterday and my bf was kind enough to go to Barton's since he was done with work early. It's a pretty decent drive, but somewhere I've been wanting to try so I was excited that I finally was going to get to. Unfortunately, I wish I would have picked another bakery for him to stop at yesterday because it was a total fail. He brought home pretty much 1 of each cookie, half a dozen cupcakes, an apple pie, cake pops and a brownie. When he arrived home, I noticed that the decor was red, white and blue... which was concerning since Memorial Day was Monday, Barton's is closed Sunday's so I can only assume that the baked goods were from Saturday and they were purchased on Wednesday. At that point I was questioning their freshness, but they looked so good that I remained hopeful. We waited for some friends to join us and as we began to try the items, our fears came true. Everything tasted old. The items were dry, hard, stale and the worst part was that they tasted freezer burned. Like the freezer burn flavor overpowered the chocolate, almond, vanilla, whatever other flavoring was in the item. I'm not sure if they were actually frozen? Or maybe their bakery case or refrigerator just has that awful freezer smell that the items absorbed? They were genuinely inedible. As we sampled the cookies, we hoped that the cupcakes would be good... but when we tried the cupcakes, they were just as bad... but how could a brownie be bad? So we tried the brownie and it was awful; we continued until finally we were out of things to try and it was 1 let down after another. I can honestly say that I don't remember the last time I had to spit something out because it was that bad and the 4 of us did on numerous times. I'm not sure that we actually consumed anything. I can imagine that everything would be absolutely delicious if it was fresh, but the only "clearance" item that we got were the sugar cookies. Everything else was full priced. The purchase totaled $35 which isn't unreasonable for high quality, fresh bakery items, but I have a feeling we paid full price for 5 day plus old items and are incredibly disappointed. If it was close by, I might give them another chance, but it absolutely isn't worth the drive to risk having the same experience the second time. I've heard wonderful things about this bakery so maybe it was just an off day... read more

I love the chocolate cake with a peanut butter butter cream frosting and filling . I'm not a big coconut fan, but the German chocolate cake is a must try! Their cookies are also very good! I love the chocolate chip and m&m. The carrot cake cookies are also a big hit! They are also a flower shop they does weddings, bouquets, and other arrangements. I explored this wonderful shop when I was in town visiting my half-sister and niece. The shop itself is more than just flowers and a bakery. There were so many wonderful gift items to offer it was difficult to choose which ones to purchase - Halloween, Christmas, nursery, etc. Staff in the bakery assisted me by carefully packing the cream rolls and cookies I purchased to take on the plane as I traveled back home. I am going to start this post by saying that I rarely give reviews, especially negative ones. However, I feel so strongly about my experience here that I am sharing with hope no one has the same horrific experience that I did. I ordered cupcakes and cookies from Barton's Bake Shop for my sister's baby shower. I had not ordered from this bakery before (and will never again), but after seeing the beautiful baby girl themed cookies and cupcakes they had posted on their Instagram page I decided to give it a shot - they looked perfect! When ordering the girl on the phone was very friendly and helpful. She took my order, I placed a deposit, and all was well until the day the order was picked up. First off, I ordered 5 dozen cupcakes and 5 dozen cookies. When picking up the order one of the dozen cupcake containers was short 4 cupcakes. I understand people make mistakes, but the containers held one dozen each. I mean, counting isn't even necessary. After acting like we were a bother, they refunded us for 4 cupcakes. The cookies were beautiful, although they still did not contain the flower details on the onesies that they had in the picture on the Instagram post. I was satisfied with them. However, the cupcakes looked NOTHING like the photo from their Instagram page that I referred to when ordering. I will also say I am not a super picky person and love supporting small local businesses (especially at this unprecedented time), but when paying TOP DOLLAR for a large order for my sister's baby shower I also expect to be satisfied with my purchase. When I called the bakery and asked to speak to a manager to express my concern they connected me to the owner. This is what led me to write this review. The owner was completely disrespectful and had NO CARE whatsoever about my concerns. He told me he saw the order before it went out and they were just fine. He repeatedly asked me what he could do to help and every time I expressed how I felt and what I would like to be done he told me it wasn't a possibility they have no time to redo any cupcakes. All I asked is for the dozen and a half of the cupcakes that looked nothing like the photo to be remade for the next day and I would bring the unacceptable cupcakes back. Not to mention this bakery is at least a 45 minute drive from my house. After going back and forth for what seemed like an eternity his final solution was for me to bring ALL of the cupcakes back and get refunded for them. What was I supposed to serve all of the guests at my sister's baby shower the next day?? He didn't care and wasn't concerned. My final solution was to replace the dozen and a half of the cupcakes with cupcakes from another local bakery I know I can rely on. I did not receive any money back, I did not get new cupcakes that look like what I had ordered, but I did get a headache from this bakery. I am extremely disappointed and upset with his rude attitude as well as the lack of care for their customer's satisfaction and will never be going back to this bakery. Barton's did the cake and flowers for my wedding last year. First of all, let me say you will never meet a sweeter family. They are so very kind and patient. When we went for our tasting, the cake was out of this world amazing. Unfortunately, it didn't taste as good on my wedding day, but it wasn't bad. Our cake did look absolutely beautiful though! I loved the flowers also. I couldn't have been more pleased with how they matched our colors. I would use them again for sure. Barton's Flowers went above and beyond for an arrangement requested the SAME DAY. This was for a funeral service in the midst of COVID-19. They not only provided a beautiful peace lily but delivered to the relatives home after driving to the church and noticing that the service was over. They truly went above and beyond the call of service especially during an already emotional time. I would definitely use them for any future purchases. When looking for a wedding cake and flowers, these guys know their stuff. Delicious cakes, pretty decorations, and all of the rentals you could ask for. Unfortunately the price is high and we just couldn't justify the money. The consultation was personal and they woo you with their cupcakes made just for your tasting. Marble cake with raspberry filling and white buttercream - yum! We felt that they wanted our business and that impressed us. When it came to the "estimate" it was not what we discussed. Everything was just thrown in an email, not a professional or seemingly legitimate estimate. It was just a bunch of random notes with a high price. The baked goods are amazing. I all ways seek out bakeries in the area and saw the high rating for Bartons. I knew I had to check it out myself. The baked section is small itself but packs a punch. I ordered cookies and cupcakes. The cookies were soft enough that they didn't crumble and we're not too hard. The cupcakes are to die for. I had the funky monkey -chocolate icing, banana cake and peanut butter filling. A little too heavy for me but still good. The cinnamon roll, which was amazing but it is pretty sugary so a half was perfect. Then the pumpkin pecan. That was perfection so good. I wish I had pictures but I got too excited and ate them before I could even write a review. Will definitely stop in again. read more

I purchased a yellow gluten-free cake with chocolate frosting from Barton's for my Aunt and Uncle's anniversary. (Gluten-free is better for your health, btw.) I was just glad to find one that was gluten-free, and hoped for the best. To my surprise, it was the best cake I have ever eaten. Everyone who had a piece agreed. Even if you aren't gluten-free, get the gluten-free option anyway. It is fantastic. I don't live in the area, and depended on yelp ratings to find the best. We recently stopped in one morning and requested 14 dozen cookies for the staff at my mom's nursing facility. We returned about an hour later and they had them all beautifully arranged on trays topped with lovely bows. Later that day a friend had called from out of state, and had the same cookies delivered to us, along with an adorable arrangement of sweetheart roses in a teacup. Where do I begin? Loved the raspberry thumbprint cookies, peach pie ,brownie, pumpkin bar, lady lock, raspberry Danish, apricot Danish. We loved it all. It was our final summertime field trip for my granddaughters before school starts. The gift shop is overwhelming with beautiful flower arrangements, pictures, gifts, and bric-a-brac. The cake for my Mom's birthday was quite the disappointment. Although it tasted good, it was not what I had ordered. Colors were wrong, they added her name by squeezing it in at the end with a different color icing and the "roses" were piles of squiggled icing. It was also raised up in the middle, not level. I was very embarrassed to have our 40 guests even look at it. A grade school child could have done a better job. It was a $45 mess. When I went to the bakery to complain and show pictures of the monstrosity, the woman showed no concern at all. She said "Those ARE our roses." Looked me right in the eye and lied. I let her know they had done my Father's cake a year before and THOSE were roses. I didn't want anything but an apology. Never again. read more

Our guests told us the same thing the night of the reception and are still raving about it. Not only were the cakes (we selected three different flavor combinations) delicious, but our display cake for cutting was gorgeous! Hillary and her team are incredibly talented and easy to work with. From our first phone call to the wedding-day delivery that Hillary made herself, we experienced service that was friendly and beyond accommodating. The "icing on the cake?" I got my wedding flowers and cake through Barton's. I absolutely adored my flowers and they were beyond my expectations. The issue I had was with my wedding cake and the way Barton's handled the issue after the fact. From the beginning, I made them aware of my husband's allergy to chocolate. Hilary assured my they had it written down on our sheet. We ordered a small two tier white cake for our wedding cake and full sheets for everyone else. We confirmed this exact order two weeks prior to the wedding. Come day of wedding when we go to cut our cake and it is chocolate. I contacted Barton's the next day letting them know I loved the flowers but was very unhappy about the wedding cake and how they knew of my husbands allergy, and it was disappointing we spent a lot of money and can not eat it. Barton's insisted I ordered this cake and confirmed it. They said it must have been my error because I "was most likely busy with wedding planning." I know for a fact what I confirmed two weeks prior, and regardless I made sure from the very beginning they had it written down he was allergic to chocolate. The fact that Barton's could not humbly acknowledge their mistake and even just apologize for ruining a special part of our day was very unprofessional. I wouldn't trust this bakery for any special occasion, especially if they blame you for their wrongs. read more
