My first brazilian in MTL took an agonizing 50 minutes, and that has never ever happened to me. I came here upon recommendation of a friend, and honestly I'm never going anywhere else again. I was in and out in 7 minutes, FULLY waxed. Things you need to keep in mind though: 1) You can't come without a reservation, and you have to text--not call-- to get one. She's usually fully booked so make sure to do so in advance. 2) this isn't your beauty spa experience, the place is very basic. Its clean, and for me that's the most important thing. 3) bring cash, she doesn't take card! 4) be prepared to undress in front of her, its not like other places where the aesthetician leaves the room and comes back to see you. I went for a brazilian, like everyone else here. Nice, clean place. Dorothy herself is very nice, animated. She talks to you during the whole session to take your mind off of the waxing. However if you're going to go I suggest you don't go shaved, even partially. Hurts like a mother. Just grow it out before coming. She also does other waxes and stuff, and there is a hair salon section as well. I would recommend her to anyone! However I got some urgent work so I notified them one and half hour ago on Tuesday that I can't make it and apologized for the short notice. Dorothy was great. Full wax in less than 5 minutes. If you're looking for a really classy spa-type of experience, this is definitely not it. But if you just want to get in and get out somewhere downtown, this is the cheapest I've seen. I've been getting waxed everytime I visit Toronto just so that I can go to Aroma or Fuzz (a business model definitely needed in Montreal), but this is the first place I would go back to. It was only $30, but it was CASH ONLY so don't forget to stop by the ATM before you go. Also, often the esthetician will leave you alone to undress. She just sort of turned away and started getting the wax ready. The waxing experience was VERY quick and painless, which was a relief to me as I had only been used to the hardening (not the traditional strip) wax for the last few years. Dorothy is very kind, funny, and responsive. I wanted to wait about a month to ensure the entire process from removal to regrowth went smoothly and, well, no complaints! The woman who does the waxing is really very nice and yes she does make you feel far more at ease than you do at many other salons, but the quality of the service is just POOR. I get brazilians done pretty regularly and they never usually hurt as much as the one I got here did. She did so much damage to my skin it was ridiculous! I was bleeding after the wax and after the irritation calmed down the next day I could see areas of my skin that were damaged. It's not the first time I've had an unpleasant experience with her either. I feel like she's just so busy that she goes quickly through the process and doesn't bother to make sure she's doing it well. (Ex: I was laying on my back and not looking at what she was doing, then I felt her apply wax to one side of my bikini without making sure the skin was pulled taught and it HURT when she removed it. I quickly pulled the skin taught on the other side before she could put the wax on and it was a lot less painful. She didn't seem to notice...) I wouldn't normally leave a bad review like this but I am a REGULAR waxer and I never have results as unpleasant as I've had here. Very disappointed and I won't be going back. It was average, the first time I went it was good! But the second and third time i went were sub-par, she didn't get out all the hair... And to make an appointment you have to text her and while it is convenient it is also impersonal and kind of cold. I will not be returning there because the point of going was to not have any hair down there but she still leaves you with chunks of hair that i had to take out myself... I am going to my second appointment for a brazilian wax today and this is the first time I am not afraid. I have been to two other salons in Montreal and have had 3 very bad experiences at them, the last one leaving me with a great fear for waxing down there. I haven't been overly impressed with the quality of the waxing. Dorothy is a total sweetheart and definitely made me feel comfortable, but her techniques are lacking. She doesn't know how to pull your skin tight when she applies or removes the wax, making the whole thing more painful than it needs to be (and less effective). The first time I went to have my Brazilian wax, it was great... 5 minutes to get the job done and painless however I noticed that it wasn't as thorough as I would have liked. The second time, again it was 5 minutes and this time not thorough at all. There were strips of hair that were not removed and I wasn't satisfied once I got home. The pro of it being 5 minutes or less does impede on the thoroughness of the job. I made an appointment and was unfortunately late and had texted her, she gave me a five minute grace period and I was only 4 minutes above my "grace period" and had texted her that I don't think I would be able to to make it within that grace period "time" and in response to that, I got a very rude "don't come" text. This is definitely not the way to treat your clients in a professional environment. She can be very rude and unpleasant if you have inconveniences in life which is the reality. Unfortunately, she became sour and rude and I would avoid her. Not thorough. Luckily I was quickly able to find someone else for my waxing. read more
