As a previous employee of Fuzz I will honestly say, do not let the pretty and kind faces at your initial visit at Fuzz Wax Bar fool you - the technicians are for the most part overworked and undercompensated, though this is more especially true for the receptionist/frontline and management staff. There is no back up of any kind as an employee and most of all the "women helping women" aspiring to achieve any semblance of a fair and just chance of a career is bullshit. Their priorities: sell memberships, don/t judge the employee if she simply decides not to show up.she will keep her job, though others who actually gave a fuck about the job will be fired with absolutely no way to .. do better.. Products they offer are over-priced, ( and having tried, desperately, the Skynn Iceland Eye gels, they suck and make no actual difference. Two stars for the "VAGACIAL" I have just spent $60 for 15 minutes of a steam cloth, a sani wipe, something inconsequential involving the prevention of ingrown hairs, an exfoliant scrub, and a mask...and more than a few sales pitches to buy the products that were being used. I have come away feeling more stupid than pampered. The "vagacial" seems like a nice idea, but I really do feel this was a waste of money. Regular waxing is fine. read more

When I moved to Montreal I could not find a wax that was satisfactory. After trying Aveda, Barbarella, Rouge Nail bar, Dees, the spa at the MAA, and various independent waxers, I had given up on finding a waxing place in Montreal that would meet my standards. That has all changed. While shopping on St. Denis this weekend, Fuzz wax bar caught my attention. Maybe it was the minimalist arrangement of high end post-waxing products aligned on the shelves, or the clean and open concept, something drew me in. I was immediately impressed that Fuzz carried products I was previously only able to find in Toronto, such as PFB Vanish and Merben buffing brushes!! Fuzz is strictly a wax bar, so their employees are totally focused and not running between waxing clients and other clients doing manis/pedis/lash services or whatnot. The front cash area is closed off from the back where the service rooms are for privacy. The atmosphere is clean, minimalist and chic. I was extremely lucky, they had an opening that day so I took an appointment. My waxer was Brea and I have to say, she is a PRO! She was pleasant to talk to and very efficient. I was thrilled that they use a hardening wax without strips. For a procedure that is never comfortable I have to say, this was the BEST wax I have ever had. My skin is so sensitive I usually can't use anything post-wax except for aloe. But, Fuzz makes it's own line of post wax products; I checked the ingredients for their post wax oil and found it was all natural, so I gave it a try. No burning, no reaction, just comfort. The highlight of this whole experience was finding out about their waxing membership. It functions like a subscription service, with a few different price brackets. Some context: in Toronto a good quality Brazilian wax will cost you around $50 before tax (13%) and tip (~15-20%), so you'll never leave paying less than around $70. At Fuzz, the base price for just the Brazilian is $45, then add tax (15%) and tip (20%) and you're at ~$62. BUT WITH THE MEMBERSHIP, the highest price bracket for their waxing subscription is $55/month ($63 with tax) and gets you THREE WAXING SERVICES!!!!! So, you can get a Brazilian (or any other bikini wax) PLUS TWO OTHER PARTS, full legs, or under arms and brows, or full arms, or underarms and upper lip, or literally what ever combo of three service you want FOR ONE BASE PRICE. And it does not stop there. If you're a subscriber you get 15% off their beauty products, and up to 50% off of any additional waxing services you want. You can chose to be a monthly subscriber OR if your hair grows slowly they have a 6 week "SlowGro" option so you're not wasting money if your hair doesn't grow back in time. I had a great experience with Sarah. To start, I booked an appointment online (always a plus), and was able to get in the next day. When I arrived, I was immediately taken back with no wait - even more of a plus! Sarah was attentive & asked what I prefer for my brow look. She was quick & I had no pain what so ever. The facility itself is well taken care of & clean, and the techs all wear gloves & take the correct sanitary measures to make customers feel comfortable. Let's start off that I waited 15 minutes after my appointment. The lady that did my Manzilian was a little rough ripping out my hair on the front side once she got to the back side I felt like she just ripped and ripped and after she finished I thought I was bleeding, thankfully I wasn't, but still almost 24 hours later I feel it all inflamed and some uncomfortable pain. This is not my first Manzilian, it's unfortunate that my regular girl that does this is on vacation, trust me what a difference from my regular girl I go see to these butchers, it will be my first and last time. I had my appointment today and it was good. It was very easy to book the appointment through the phone. I didn't have to wait at all when I got there, and the place and ambience was very nice. They used a hard wax for my underarms which was painless. My underarms are sensitive (like for most people) and I have had bad experiences where they bled when getting waxed. Today, everything was very painless and went smoothly (no pun intended). The lady who I got for my appointment was very friendly and gave me the impression that she really enjoys/cares about her job. As long as they don't inflate their prices a single dollar higher, I think I will be a regular here! It would be great if they opened a branch in my hometown, Ottawa. read more

I was traveling in Montreal for business and decided to try Fuzz based on Yelp reviews. I was nervous because the technician is so important when you are getting waxed. My tech, Milena was young but so professional and nice! She worked efficiently and made small talk to distract me, it was surprisingly pleasant. I really loved the entire experience. The space is clean and neat and was easy to get to. I thought the price was quite reasonable for the service offered, and less than I am used to paying in the US (often for lesser service). Prices are way to high for what they afford and they keep increasing them. I went there for a brazilian wax and after two tree days I had bumps all over my lady part. Some of the esthetician are rushing to get the job done. In terms of the pain, it is painful (3,5~4/5). Their wax irratates my skin Costumer service depends on wich esthetician you get, you either get an esthetician that is talkative and will talk to you to help you forget about the pain or one that will stay silent the whole time. Booking online was easy- loved that you can let them know what service you want and choose a technician if you know who you like. I chose randomly and Sarah was great. We had a conversation and I was totally distracted. The service was fantastic and she explained their method to me, which I'm always curious about. Yesterday was my first time at Fuzz Wax Bar Saint-Denis to get a Brazilian done and definitely not my last. Last time I had "taken care" of my bikini I shaved it...needless to say I was expecting to suffer and cry my eyes out when finally getting it all waxed but Marianne was very gentle and she did everything she could for me to have the best experience possible. She was very attentive, pro and also very friendly. I will definitely come back for her! Overall, I am very happy with my experience at Fuzz Wax Bar Saint-Denis and the result. For all of you fuzzy ladies out there they have different kinds of memberships. It's worth checking them out. The only con is that they only take credit cards for memberships (no debit or other payments) which sucks for newcomers like me who don't have one yet. But it doesn't deserve taking a star off. Lovely new place. 5 stars for the name but I can't give them 5 stars because it's a little pricey. With tax & tip you're looking at just under $60 for a full Brazilian. There are places in mtl that will take care of you for half that. This place specializes in waxing, so you know you're not about to get some rando barber taking you into his back room and ripping out your pubes for a quick easy $30, giving you infected ingrowns in the process. I booked a same-morning appointment for a Brazilian and was shown into a very clean, pleasant room, offered some baby wipes to freshen up and a towel to cover myself before the aesthetician left so I could get undressed. All very dignified and calming. The table was very comfy. Fuzz specializes in hard wax, which they advertise as less painful than normal hot waxing strips. This being my first time with hard wax (but definitely not my first Brazilian), I will say that each individual strip was indeed less painful than traditional waxing strips. The downside, however, is that it seemed to take more strips and was therefore a much longer process, making me question whether it was worth it for only slightly less pain. Hard wax works by only sticking to the hair, and not the skin. Because of this, it doesn't always get the hair out at the root. It often tears the hairs near the base. It's now day 2, and aesthetically, I can't tell the difference between this and a regular wax. But will my little black curly hairs grow back faster because they didn't get ripped out at the roots?
