I found this small shop when I moved to the area on military orders, you have to go to the back of the American Tin Cannery to access it. It had been over 6 years since I had to wear my service uniform as the wars kept us in our utilities between short rotations. Needless to say, the geometry of my 20's was lost somewhere. Dorota saved the day and was able to get me into my uniforms with a bit of talent while sparing no humor on me. A few months later, I sent my (then) fiancé to her for taking in a dress before a formal ball. The night and that dress were both magical. We're now waiting for a dress to come in for her to fit on my beautiful 6.5 month pregnant wife. Dorota's work is top-notch, quick, and offered at a great value. I just took a new pair of work slacks to her this week and they were expertly hemmed for $10. Took my dress to get altered here after seeing that she has worked on dresses before. All I wanted her to do is cut fabric off the back to make the dress more open and she told me she could not do it. At least she was honest but seems like a pretty easy fix for someone with experience.... Taking my business elsewhere. Do not recommend. read more

I went to Dorota to alter my wedding dress. Between the time I purchased the dress and my wedding, I put on a lot of muscle so my dress was too tight, especially around my booty. The final outcome of the dress was wonderful. She was able to take out the dress through the booty and the bust and it ended up fitting like a glove. However, I have mixed feelings about the experience at Dorota's. First, it took almost 3 weeks to get my dress altered. When I talked to her originally, she said she would only need 1-2 weeks and cost $40. She barely finished it within a few days of my wedding, so it was pretty tight and that made it too close for comfort and it ended up costing over $100 (which is still a great price to get a wedding dress altered, but it was more than what she quoted me). Second, Dorota is a smoker, so after having my dress for 3 weeks, my dress SMELLED LIKE CIGARETTES. It was disgusting. I had to air it out for 3 days, which was problematic because she finished it only 4 days before my wedding! So, her alterations and seamstress skills were great, however, the overall experience was fairly poor. read more

My dress had a TON of layers and a lot of length had to be taken off but Dorota worked hard through about 4-5 fittings to make sure it was exactly how I wanted it. She also did my husband's suit and did as much as she could for his body type. His chest and legs are much larger than his waist so she did great at altering his pants and jacket. I needed them for a friends wedding the following weekend and she had them done in only 3 days! She was super reasonable and did I mention how nice she is?
