Walking into Min Kim's I was pleasantly surprised by the artistic, clean, and fashion chic decor. I've been to other alteration shops which look like a tornado hit the inside. However, at Min's I felt like they really take their business seriously and take pride in the quality of their work, seen from the clean alterations but also by the manor in which they keep there office looking so cute and organized. There's attention to detail in everything. The ladies at Min Kim have an artistic eye for knowing how clothes should be altered and fitted! I wanted to get one of my blouses for work altered the, they suggested it didn't need altering (loved the honesty). They were not pushy or intrusive in any way which was refreshing. Min Kim is around the corner from my Office. When I'd drive West on upper Lighthouse, I'd frequently find myself parking in front of their beautiful shop to admire their clothes and scarves. Each time I walked by Min Kim, I always stopped to look. I was riveted and impressed by the clean classic lines, impeccable finishing and the sheer beauty of their clothing. I figured they must be very expensive. I lost out for over 2 years due to this uninformed assumption. I finally walked in to ASK about their alteration prices. They were authentically warm and welcoming. I felt treated as an honored guest in their home. The shop was delightfully clean, with not a pin out of place. I'm petite. Consequently, I'd roll up most of my jeans so that I wouldn't trip over them. My other jeans featured hems that dragged on the floor. I asked Min Kim what thy would charge to hem them. Then I asked the same question about hand hemming. I was surprised to find that there was no additional charge for hand hemming. I was also surprised about how very affordable the quote was. So surprised that I queried, "For each leg?" It was per jean. I brought 2 pairs in for hand hemming. They were pinned with care and excellent communication about length. They asked me when I needed them. Even though I'd said, "No hurry," the beautifully hemmed jeans were ready for pickup inside of 2 days. They had me try them on to ensure I had exactly what I wanted. I did - in fact, so much so that I wasted no time in bringing in 8 more jeans to be hand hemmed. Because of the extremely affordable price for their artistry and impeccable labor, I all but had to arm wrestle them before they'd accept my check on which I'd gratefully added in more than the price of their bill. Min Kim did a flawless job on all the jeans (and at an unmatched great price!), They more than exceeded my expectations. Ever since then, I've been able to feel comfortable and have full confidence while entrusting them with my clothing. I'm delighted with the care and attention they've given to all of my clothes. The've expertly shortened and altered my dresses, slacks, shirts and blouses, turning each piece into bespoke clothing. My next job for them: replicating one of my favorite dresses that had an unfortunate encounter with my favorite pink lipstick in the dryer. The lipstick won the bout. Mea culpa. Min Kim's was recommended to be by a friend when I needed some alterations done to a pair of shorts. My request was to shorten them, keeping the cuff. Not a problem for these ladies! Later I took in a dress to be shortened that had a "rough" hem, the seamstress was able to duplicate it to a tee. So far all the alterations I've had done have been to shorten things; shorts, pants, dresses ( I'm 5'3" ), and all done perfectly and within a weeks time. Priced right as well. As stated in the previous review, they don't take credit cards, but they will honor a local check or go across the street to B of A... I had a defected dress which had to be altered before I could wear it. The alteration price was reasonable and the seamstress did a professional job. She did much better than I would have done. While it was hard for me to understand the seamstress's English, I was still able to eventually understand what she said. The minor communication barrier is the only reason I take off one star. I brought jeans and pants, then suits and party dresses. Every time I go there, they welcome me all smiles. The granny employee who helps the communicaton between the owners and customers is kind and elegant. No problem with communication. They are very punctual with appointments and work schedule.
