Silvia was incredibly helpful with a last-minute bustle emergency for the historical costume I…read moreplanned to wear during Car Week! I called ahead from Paso Robles, and she kindly had me come in as soon as we arrived in town. Both Silvia and her assistant were so welcoming, helpful, and kind. Silvia quickly came up with a clever solution that truly saved the day, and even with the rush turnaround, she had it finished surprisingly quickly. I'm so grateful for her expertise and willingness to help on such short notice. Thanks to Silvia, I'll be looking very stylishly 1905 this weekend! Highly recommend.

BEWARE! Silvia's Alterations is a joke! My Mom took her…read moredress about 2 and a half weeks ago or so to be shortened. The dress was promised to her 8/12. When my Mom went in to pick it up, she was told it wasn't ready because of the car show, and that her dress would now be ready yesterday 8/17. Guess what?! My Mom went to pick it up the morning of 8/17, and IT STILL WAS NOT READY! The dumb lady now told her that she could comeback between 3 and 4pm. My mom went back at 3:30, and it was finally finished. My Mom didn't need anything done to the dress except to shorten it. Nothing else. It should not have taken as long as it did. Promises mean nothing at Silvia's Alterations. This place is a joke, and the work isn't even that great. She didn't even knock a few bucks off the $100 charge for the inconvenience. Beyond horrible customer service. Do yourself a favor and take your items elsewhere.

I can agree... her work is immaculate…read more When I found my wedding dress it was the last one, it was on clearance, and it was too big (by a lot). I loved the dress so much that I bought it. I really wanted to change the neckline from a straight across strapless to a sweetheart, but David's Bridal wouldn't change the design, so I started shopping around. With all the layers and the beading everyone was quoting me at $600-$700. Then my friend told me about the place she just took her dress too (she did a ton a major changes) and said it was a more reasonable price. I saw her before and after photos and was stunned. I took my dress in and got it taken in about 2 full sizes the first time, then since I lost some weight had it taken in another size. Had the neck line changed to a sweetheart, had the length shortened, and had a bustle put in. My dress has about 4 layers that had to be altered and she hand placed the lace and beading for the new neckline, and on top of that she said some of the beads were loose so she tacked them back down. All for $375. I was amazed!! Now my dress fits like a glove and I am ready for my wedding in 18 days!!!

When I purchased my wedding dress off the rack at Magnolia, they recommended me to A-Z alterations…read more(along with a couple other local shops). She was quick and responsive when I called to schedule my first fitting. The first fitting went perfect, she was super helpful and made some recommendations to make the dress easier to bustle/ wear throughout the wedding. We scheduled the second fitting for about a month which was like amazing turn around! When I arrived to the second appointment she was not there. I stood in the drizzle for 15 minutes and called like 3 times before giving up. I called multiple times the next few days and never heard back (super anxiety enduring for a bride)! My (now) husband ended up stopping by her shop during regular business hours and managed to get her to call me back. Turns out there had been some mishaps with her keys and she locked herself out of her store. We were able to schedule the 2nd fitting and everything went well. I did loose a little weight though and she recommended coming in a week or so before the wedding for final alterations in case I lost more or fluctuated again. I called to schedule something about 10 days before the wedding and she was shocked, saying it was not a lot of time but she would do it. She ended up turning it around in a weekend and the dress fit perfect! Her quality is fantastic, but communication wasn't my favorite. Generally cost was about what I expected for the area and luckily I got my dress on a fat discount so I had the wiggle room. I don't think my experience was the worst case scenario and probably not the typical - overall I would recommend but maybe only planning your appointments during her normal open hours!
