I rarely review services in here, but I felt the need to give this place a shout out because she's never missed on my clothes and has got them done right the first time every time. I am almost 40 and I've never needed alterations but recently had a promotion where I needed some nicer clothes. I wanted the pants to fit perfect so I stopped by Libra's one day and it is now my go to place whether it is jackets or pants. I've taken at least 20 items in during the last two years and the price is always fair and the clothes are always on time. Recently she's been doing patches for me on various jackets and I get so many compliments. She charges about $20 for pants and $10 for shirts which is well worth it to feel good in your clothes! read more

I popped in to have my measurements taken for a custom dress that I'm ordering. The woman working (I'm assuming the owner but I didn't get her name) was VERY kind and helpful. She took my measurements gave me pointers on things I need to consider (how tall my heels will be etc). I will definitely be coming here for all my alteration needs in the future. It's an easy place to drive past but I parked on the street of Forest drive (I didn't see a parking lot and it was a busy road), Maybe try to approach coming from Prescott turning right onto Forest as opposed to David turning left onto Forest. read more

I recently moved to Monterey and was struggling to find a tailor. I had sleeves removed from a dress a couple of months ago and later brought in some jeans to inquire about getting them altered. I went here to get alterations done on my prom dress. Libra, the owner was so nice and super helpful. I was honestly very nervous because not only was I shortening the dress I needed to add a slit as well. She assured me that there was nothing to worry about and that she would make sure I loved the dress. It only took few days till I came back in. She noticed it was fitting weird around the slit and told me she could fix it, which she did in a matter of seconds! The price was amazing and I loved the outcome. Had an amazing prom! If you need a great tailor, Libra is who you need to see. My wife and I have both taken items to her with excellent results. She can do delicate women's clothing alterations as well as men's suits, pants and even uniform items according to regulations (if you show her the regs). She was even able to replace the sweatband on an antique cap I picked up overseas! She will also nicely help you decide if the tailoring job is worth doing by explaining and showing what the job entails. Her prices are reasonable especially for the Pacific Grove area and she is very nice, professional and as accommodating as possible. read more

Needed to get a dressed hemmed for a wedding. I found Libra on Yelp, called, brought my dress in the same day. I needed to get ~4 inches trimmed off from the hem of my dress and the wedding I was attending was in 2 weeks. She let me know she would have the dress done the following weekend after dropping it off. The dress was ready when promised and hemmed perfectly. Technically very competent, but either I don't speak clear English or the proprietor doesn't take notes on what is desired. Came in to get a pair of pants let down. She marked the pant leg to indicate what I wanted and when I got them back they had been SHORTENED. Brought in pants to have the front waistband lowered. When I got them back the two front belt loops were missing. I had to pay a second time to get new ones crafted out of the hem material. Two pairs of dress slacks needed to be taken in, and we agreed the amount taken in would be tapered to midcalf, preserving the hem exactly as it was, like is done DAILY in shops around the world. My two pairs? Tapered all the way through the bottom, meaning I had to pay--you guessed it--AGAIN to get the problem fixed. Lengthened yet another pair of slacks, but she put a seam on the outside of the pant leg, as you would with jeans. Yet ANOTHER pair: took in a pair of slacks in the waist and rear, and instead of leaving the extra material to be pressed flat against the seat SHE CUT OFF THE EXTRA, meaning they can never be adjusted again. Who's got the money to do everything twice? read more

I have taken many things to Libra and she has never disappointed me in the quality of her work and how well the items fit. There have been several times when we put a rush on a job - needed it 1-2 days later - big jobs too, and she has always accommodated. I think that her prices are reasonable, because her quality is spot on. Simple alterations are low priced, and those jobs that are a bit more complicated she charges more as she should.
