Garlic knots and water carafe
Craig G.

Although it was a busy Saturday night, I managed to get seated in short order in a second floor booth. The wall have dark rustic wood that lends to a sophisticated atmosphere. All the staff were friendly and attentive and I only lacked for a drink fill once during my visit. The complimentary bread was soft and coated with a sprinkle of Parmesan crumbles. But the hero was the ramekin of marina, full of chunks of fresh vegetables and full of flavor. It was sweet, it was tangy, it was aromatic, it was garlicky, and it was all of them in perfect balance. We also had a starter of the bruschetta (we asked them to hold the balsamic glaze) and all the toppings were fresh. My entree was the veal piccata and the veal was tender enough to cut with a fork. With capers and a lemon sauce, I expected it to be tangy, but this representation of the dish was a tad too sour for me. But based on everything else, I would love to explore the rest of the menu and especially try something in that delicious marina.

Meat lovers pizza and Penne Classico

I LOVE finding hidden gems here! Doro's Italian Restaurant was amazing! Their pizza tasted so good and not greasy. We ordered the Meat Loved pizza it comes with pepperoni, sausage, ham and bacon. The topping tasted fresh and the crust was perfect. Per the photo my 2 year old couldn't wait to take a slice. The Penne Classico is also AMAZING. Packed with Italian sausage, mixed peppers & onions in a Marinara sauce. Not pictured was my toddlers French fries which arrived nice a hot and the perfect crisp. I give this a 12 out of 10. Rumor has it every option on their menu is pretty great. Can't wait to come back to try more.

Chicken Parmagiana

My friends and I were looking for a place to meet somewhere between our respective cities, and we settled on Calhoun and Doro's Italian. Our hotel clerk said this place is the best restaurant in Calhoun, and after dinner there, I believe it. It was Hollywood perfect, from the service to the decor. Our table tried the Canelloni, the Puttanesca, Chicken Parm (half serving was PLENTY), and the shrimp scampi. Also, the rolls are fantastic. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu. All extensively enjoyed. Do yourself a favor and book a table at Doro's.

Tried Doro's for the first time tonight for dinner. We were greeted and seated very quickly even though most tables were full. The restaurant has a nice rustic Italian ambiance with brick walls and pictures of historic Calhoun places. We ordered the Sautéed Mussels in a lemon garlic butter sauce and Caprese. The Caprese was great. The mussels themselves were good, but the sauce left something to be desired. Could use some extra flavor IMO. Pesto Pasta and the Cannelloni Florentina were flavorful and good sized portions as well. We finished off with the mini cannolis that were fresh and crunchy, very good! We will certainly be back to try other items on the menu!

We have been to Doro's several times and have never had a bad experience. Sandra and the other staff are always AMAZING. This is our go to place for celebrating special occasions! Everything we have ever tried has tasted fresh with quality ingredients. Love the cozy atmosphere for a quick date night. Well worth the money!!

Logan was our server. He did an excellent job wonderful young person. Skilled server very attentive to our needs and treated us with great kindness and appreciation. I was really blown away at how several staff people had obvious relationships with the customers. It was really cool to see the small town vibe and people taking pride and who they are and what they do. The food was absolutely wonderful. Our meal started with hot bread and a plate of fresh garlic to go with the olive oil. the entrees were hot and fresh - salads were delicious - the house Italian dressing was obviously made daily. I got the taste of Italy sampler and my wife got chicken Alfredo. Just the best Italian food I've had in a very long time anywhere.

We went on a Monday night and it was pretty crowded but we were seated quickly. They give each table a big plate of bread with butter, which was delicious and a nice treat. I ordered the arancini to start with. I love arancini, and so many restaurants in Atlanta put meat in them. These were SO good, maybe my favorite arancini that I've had recently. Good ratio of risotto to cheese and nice and crispy. The sauce that came with them was really good too. I wish you got more for the cost, but it was comparable to every restaurant. I ordered the Pomodoro al Vegetariana but subbed penne for the spaghetti (just not a fan lol). The pasta was really good and perfectly cooked. The sauce was maybe a little too garlicky? There was a good ratio of pasta to veggies. I don't like mushrooms but they blended in enough that I could eat them. My gf got the Penne Toscana because she's allergic to garlic, so this was one of the few things she could eat. (Side note, one of the other local Italian restaurants we called basically said there was nothing she'd be able to eat there.) Some of the artichoke pieces were really chewy and the dish was very oily, otherwise she enjoyed it. The inside is very nice, cozy and not stuffy. Our waitress was super sweet.

2 Star -- My Lawyer Friend and I Are Considering This a Chargeable Offense…read moreIn the legal world, there's a concept called "misrepresentation." My attorney dining companion will tell you it applies here. I've eaten lasagna on three continents. I've never once feared it. Until now. What arrived at our table was, generously speaking, a flat pancake wearing a cheese disguise -- topped with shredded beef that seemed just as confused about its life choices as the chef who plated it. Green? Green. I didn't order a lawn clipping casserole. I ordered lasagna -- the cornerstone dish, the anchor of any Italian menu worth its salt (of which this dish also needed more). Lasagna is not a canvas for creativity. It is a covenant. A sacred agreement between a restaurant and its guests that says: we know what we're doing here. This dish broke that covenant, shredded it, and apparently used it as a garnish. My recommendation? Locate the nearest Italian grandmother. Apologize to her. Take notes. Start over.
