She didn't even but the belt on straight, and I am supposed to believe she threw this crystal away
    Vanessa G.

Very disappointed, I came here because of the good yelp reviews to get my dress altered. Please, please never take your important wedding dress here, she ruined my lace trimming on my dress. At first, I was trying to keep a positive mindset on it but she clearly knew she messed up but told me, "you can't notice from far away." When I first went I was surprised at the size of the location but she seemed sweet enough and like she knew what she was doing so I decided it would be fine. My dress needed to be let in a few inches and raise from the bottom, and I purchased a 36-inch crystal belt to add to the waist. She said it would be 85 dollars, I thought it was reasonable so I agreed. When I came to pick up the dress she wanted me to pay the rest of the cost off and then leave. I asked her if I could try it on and she said I could. Everything seemed fine with the fit of the sides and I looked down at the length, it was slightly shorter than what I wanted but okay. THEN I SEEN THE LACE TRIM, she just folded it in, in the middle and cut it, I picked it up and she said, "you can't notice it from far away." I stayed calm and said it looked nice still, but that is only because I am the type of person who does not like conflict. I thanked her and left. But as everyone else saw she did a terrible mistake on my dress, and they are right. I went back because I wanted to pick up the remaining of the belt because I wanted it for my bouquet, but she gave me attitude and said, "there was nothing left, so I threw it away." I am a 26-inch waist, so there should have been at least 8 inches left of the belt. She said, "there's nothing I could use it for" and that "there are different measurements from alterations and when we buy stuff." What really gets to me is that she had the nerve to give me attitude about it when she ruined my dress. I will add pictures of this later.

Great work, fast reliable and affordable. Depending on what it is they are able to do same day work. My go to place for alterations.

I dropped off my sash on a Thursday and had it ready by Saturday. But if I were you try to drop of desire item(s) a week in advance only bc there were other students from other cal states that were dropping in theirs as well. He did an amazing job and left very content and satisfied with how my sash turned out. Here's a before and after. Also FYI his new location is at 1911 E. Gage av los Angeles ca 90001- the new place is a place/swapmeet. As long as you ask someone that works there just ask if they can direct you to the area of where do tinted windows. His stand is right in front it. Hope this helps

Great prices and turnaround time, but inconsistent quality of work!…read more Ruben charges $5 per line and was able to get my sashes embroidered within 3 days, even in the middle of busy graduation season. Pretty amazing! My one significant complaint, however, is that the quality of work was inconsistent. I took 2 sashes in for embroidery. One turned out great, no complaints; the other was passable but not optimal at all. I've included a picture of the meh one, as well as the photo I sent to Ruben as a model to work off of. Pretty big difference between what I got vs. requested! You can tell that the font spacing is inconsistent on the actual sash, but the worst part is that the last "l" in "Electrical" looks like it was forgotten and then squeezed in. In person it's really obvious--that "l" is slightly crooked and much thinner/more squished than all the other letters! Oh well...not the end of the world, at least it generally looked okay in photos. Anyway, Ruben's shop is a bit hard to find, but if you walk toward the stage, it's around there--it's one of the shops that you'll find on your right. I'd definitely come back here if I needed a quick and cheap embroidery job done, but if I had more time and a bit more cash to spare then I would try to look elsewhere!

Wow! I went in on Tuesday around noon, tried on my dress, told her where I wanted it shortened to,…read moreand she estimated a cost of $12 to shorten it--polyester bridesmaid dress with a liner and an additional piece hanging down the front--and it was done on Thursday morning! For speed, this place gets a 5... However, the rating gets knocked down to a 3 because I give her a 2 for quality. She did what I asked and for much less than the other places who quoted $20-$160, but she didn't do it that well. It was almost a step above me having cut the dress and thrown a few hand stitches in. What she did was cut the top layer (the main part of the dress) and put in professional stitches to hold the cut but not hide it, i.e., she did not fold over the material to sew in a folded cut, so occasionally, you see some threads sticking out. Ironically, she did fold over the liner before sewing it, so that looks just fine, and she did a great job with the piece hanging over the front. So, she has potential; she just forgot to use it on the main and most important part of the garment. This is one of those times when I would agree: you get what you pay for. I have a sense, however, that if you tell her to make sure the material is folded before sewing, she would obey and do an awesome job for an awesome price. So, I shall use her again and just give her more direction. Note: The tailor's primary language is espanol.

It's hard to find a good tailor that actually listens to exactly what you want and delivers. Not only that but finding one that doesn't try to rip you off is even more difficult. I put my stamp of approval on Guadalupe Veloz!
