After my dry cleaning place closed up after over 20 years i started to come here because of my husband. This is the only place he trusts with his suits and ties, and also his special buttercloth shirts. The man i see a lot in there is always kind and welcoming. Ive had a few shirts altered by him and intend to do more. He is excellent and everything is always ready when he says. Its reasonably priced. The only bad thing is i think they shrank one of my sweaters BUT that thing is finicky and i think i can fix it. So no harm done really; i had another place that shrank the same sweater WAY worse, which is how i know its the sweater. Ah well. Just be careful of your angora blends and that goes for everywhere. I really liked the work they did on a bridesmaid dress I took in. I wanted a shorter hemline and I wanted the underarm holes closed a bit. When I picked it up it was done very well. Couldn't even tell work was done on it. I also took my precious jersey to get spot cleaned and it came back perfect! I was worried as I had never left anything at a cleaners before but now it's my new favorite thing to do. Thanks for the hard work! I decided to try this place out on a Monday since it's a little bit closer than my usual dry cleaner. Service was very nice. The woman who assisted me both times I went there answered all of my questions very calmly. She also honored a 10% off of my bill for showing her my Yelp check-in. That's always greatly appreciated! I was disappointed, though, with the smell of my husband's for a long-sleeved shirts ($2.45 apiece) and a sweater vest ($4) when I went to pick them up. It was not odor-free dry cleaning. And because my husband has very little sense of smell, he asked me if they smelled like cigarette smoke. "No, like sweat and body odor," I regrettably replied. ZZ Top claimed that "every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man," but their recently dry-cleaned clothes have to smell nice too! I don't know if this whole mishap was a fluke, but I'm not about to find out. The other downfall is parking. Del Rio is located within a strip mall near the Amapola market. It's usually fairly packed so you might be lucky to find a place upfront at peak times. STAINS ON GOWN/DISRESPECTFUL! NICE UNTIL THEY MESS UP! I've come to this place for the past year or two and have been recommending them to friends because it's a family business and I wanted to support them. I came to get my dress altered. This dress was $200 so I wanted to go somewhere I trusted. The dress was in perfect condition, brand new, never came outside the bag except the fitting to make the alteration sizes. I come to pick up my dress and I see loose threads everywhere but shrug it off. Then I begin seeing SPOTS OF STAINS in all random spots. I ignore most of the stains because they'll go unnoticed or weren't too obvious. BUT there were stains at the front VERY OBVIOUS. I went up and asked where the stains came from and if I could remove it myself at home with dish soap. Again, I liked them and didn't want to cause trouble. He looked at the stains and shrugged saying he had no idea how to get them out. I asked if he had anything that would help and he shrugged saying, "maybe steam." I asked if he could try that and he was I would have to pick up my dress in a couple days and PAY for the cleaning. I asked him if that was necessary being that the stains came from HIS BUSINESS. He looked at me and said "NOT MY PROBLEM." I was hurt because I had spoken so highly of them to so many. Now that HE MESSED UP, his EGO took a hit. I told him that these stains weren't there until after he altered it and he accused me of lying saying "Well how would I know you didn't bring them in with them. I can't. So NOT MY PROBLEM." Two people came in to turn the dress to him. HE put the alteration pins, we ALL saw the dress with NO stains or loose threads. He is the only one that's touched this dress when I came both times! Seeing how upset I was, he said he'll try cleaning it and if the stain DOES COME OUT then he'll charge me full price. If it doesn't, then I just pay for alterations. Okay, so you want me to PAY FOR THE STAIN YOU MADE in my BRAND NEW GOWN. But hey...that's their motto: "NOT MY PROBLEM." Will not return and will make sure to spread the word to the city of Downey and surrounding areas. Do not recommend. read more

I have been going here for a few years now. I always get really clean clothes back. Other places have not cleaned them completely on certain occasions so it helps me be loyal to this place. Prices are reasonable. And Martha, the lady at counter is very friendly and appreciates your business. She also speaks more English than other places I have been too. This is a good thing. I went to get a crease out of my pair of suit pants. That was the only thing I wanted. They did not need to be dry cleaned or anything. I dropped off the pants at 7:30 am and the man who helped me said they would be done after 4 pm. When I went to pick them up, the crease was ironed out, but the he had ironed a different wrinkle into the pant four inches from where the first one was! Talk about taking one step forward and two steps back. I asked if he would be able to get that wrinkle out and he said he will, but that I would need to go back the next day at 8 am. What frustrates me about this is that he only had one job to do regarding the pants: get the wrinkle out. Why did he not check that area to make sure it was done properly? It's not as if the new crease appeared in a different part of the pant. He even admitted that he didn't check. The next day I returned to find a NEW crease in the pants in the same area! This time he took care of it while I waited and it only took about five minutes. What bothers me about this second mistake is that he failed to confirm that he did a good job again, but just blindly got the crease out and paid no attention to a new problem he created. This tells me that they have no concern to doing a satisfactory job, but just do the bare minimum with no interest in quality control. After this experience, I will not be returning. read more

RUINED my Wedding dress!!!!! This place deserves 0 stars. I took my wedding dress here to be cleaned in preparation for my wedding (this weekend). My dress was Ivory with Silver around the embroidery, but when I got it back it was yellowed and the embroidery is white with hardly any silver lining. My wedding dress is ruined and it can not be restored anymore!!!! The manager refuses to let me talk to the owners or give me their contact information. I have pictures to prove that they ruined my dress and yet they deny any responsibility for damaging my dress that cost over $1500 plus alterations. Now I do not have a dress to wear for my wedding. Found the Cleaners that I have been looking for! I am very picky. Maybe because I have expensive suits and ties and other places that I've been to don't really put care into them. So I gave this place a try after reading the past reviews. Oddly enough, this is the only place that has reviews. If its good enough that others would take the time to express their satisfied experience it was worth giving a try. So I brought in a suit coat that had a small stain, 1 tie, 1 slacks that had coffee creamer stains, and a dark blue suit with blue cheese stains to see how good of a job they. Dark blue suit came out perfect. Lightly pressed just the way I like it. Pants came out very clean. and the tie was cleaned. The suit coat, I wasn't sure if the stain that I originally asked them to take off was still there or if the design of the suit was deceiving. The lady and her husband said that they would try one more time. Well after returning to pick up the coat, I determined that they did a good job and the stain was pretty much off. I hope their service is like this all the time! They are really nice and they stand by they commitment of providing great service. I've been here three times. The first was the most successful. First time: I dropped my yukata and happi off late Thursday afternoon. I wanted to pick it up the next day. The lady said it wouldn't be available until Saturday. Excuse me? SO if I were to drop it off Friday morning before 10AM, I could have it by 3PM... but if I drop it off Thursday, I can't have it until Saturday? Whatever. I picked it up the next Monday (I worked on Saturday). It was ok. For the price it was ok. My yukata was still a little wrinkled and my happi still had some "stains" on it. She said that they wouldn't come out. It turns out, I all needed from my happi was to spray some generic pre-wash that my boyfriend had and then wash it myself. Second time: My boyfriend wanted to get his apron dry cleaned. She told him it couldn't be dry cleaned. FINE. Third time: I asked her (same lady all three times) to press my yukata on Thursday afternoon. She told me I could pick it up Saturday morning. AGAIN. WHY DON'T I JUST DROP IT OFF THE NEXT MORNING BEFORE 10AM. When I told her I wanted it by Friday, she pushed my yukata back to me and told me I was crazy. She just started waving her hands at me, shaking her head and telling me I'm crazy. RUDE. The service here is TERRIBLE. The final product is mediocre. The pricing, is decent though. So if you want cheap, then go here. I told my boyfriend we are NEVER going back here. I have never experience ANY dry cleaner in ANY part of California as rude and inconsistent as this. read more

Just got home from Del Rio Cleaners. I must say their work is exceptional! I brought in 16 pieces of garment, including a 3 piece costume for an upcoming event. All spotless and lovely! I also brought in a button-up shirt and a pair of jeans for repair. The shirt was missing a button, the woman who takes care of you here told me I had to find her a button. I said the button I had shattered. When I came back to pick up everything she had gone out of her way to find a button for the shirt! WHAT AN AWESOME GESTURE! Oh, the jeans were repaired as well with a new zipper. One last thing, my costume has a bow on it that never seems to stay in place in just the way I like it. Wow, what can I say about this place. I can honestly say that this place is great. I arrived here on a Monday searching for a business that had dry cleaning and alterations. I found Del Rio Dry cleaning and when I went in I was greeted with smiles. The younger looking Asian women asked what I needed done. I told her I needed a zipper replaced and needed it by Wednesday. She explained the earliest she could do it would be Thursday and her reason made sense. I come back on Thursday (today) and everything I wanted was done correctly. She even gave me 10% off and in return I decided to write this amazing no BS review. The ladys name was Martha (not an Asian name, I know). Now I can happily go home and not here my wife complain or be upset. I needed this done and Del Rio helped me out because first it saved me a headache and 2.
