Our door was already starting to look worn when it had an unfortunate accident with a power washer. We weren't sure if we should replace them or get them redone and after doing some research we landed on refinishing. When looking for the right person to do the job all signs led to Ed and we are glad they did. His craftsmanship really shows in his work and the results speak for themselves. Ed is a master artist! He brought out the beauty of our front door after many years of neglect. He came to our house after we had our handyman try to refinish our door but instead botched it. Ed was confident that he could restore it's natural beauty. He started on Monday and finished on Friday! His job was truly magnificent. Ed knows and loves what he does and he takes pride in his work. He is also such a delight to get to know. We miss seeing him in our home. Thank you Ed read more

Ed restored our doors beautifully. I really thought our only option was to throw our door away. They were broken when someone tried to break into our home, and because of the custom weird size they had to be special ordered, and with Covid that was 3ish months away, so I called Ed and sent him photos. Ed worked really hard on our doors, he's super nice, and he always left his work space tidy at the end of the work day. Now we have stunning doors and we feel really good about having saved the old ones. I mismatched the door knobs by accident (actually Ace Hardware did) so ignore the funny knobs, I am exchanging soon! See before and afters! :) read more

My front door and threshold had seen better days. After receiving a few warning citations from my City's neighborhood improvement division to repair or replace the door, I began researching options. Ed was the only responsive and reasonable person I reached out to regarding the project. Some vendors wanted me to remove the front door and bring it to their workshop for 3-5 days (which makes zero sense). Others just flat out said they didn't want to be bothered. Ed on the other hand, responded within the hour, provided a detailed account of what my door would need, discussed the products to be used, and gave a timeline with fair pricing all through the exchange of a couple photos and texts. The only downside was he was booked out for a few months- but it was well worth the wait. Ed is attentive to detail and really takes his time sanding and properly staining and sealing his work with quality products that will undoubtedly hold up for years to come. He is tidy, personable, and very friendly. I receive many compliments from my neighbors and have even had some passerby's request his information to repair their doors. This was an investment worth making! The repair of my door gave my home the facelift it deserved. Don't be afraid to give Ed a call or text! read more

I had some exterior doors that were badly weathered and stupidly I had a painter try to re-stain. It was a horrible job and I contacted Invision (Ed) and although he does not service my area (Inland Empire), he talked me off the cliff and helped me to strip and re-stain the doors myself. Ed was very instructive and extremely patient. Ed walked me through the process every step of the way. He would call me and ask questions and I would send him photos. He is a wealth of knowledge and there is no way I could have re-done my doors without his help. I highly recommend Ed for any work you may wish to have performed. He is definitely a master craftsman and a great person. read more

Ed refinished our outside courtyard door and did a PHENOMENAL job! He was pretty busy when I first contacted him...but I'm so glad I waited because he's worth every penny. He's very detail oriented. The door now looks better than my front door and its hands down the best door on my street. You see it from across the street and it looks great. Ed did an amazing job on my doors that were on bad shape. They look like they just got installed. Highly recommend Ed

Ed is in high demand, but worth the wait. We have a mahogany door that I'd done the original finishing on around 10 years ago. I'm no pro, but I got some detailed instructions from the contractor that did the installation and spent a few weeks making sure I did everything right. Being busy and recalling how much time it took the first time around I decided to look for a pro to give me an estimate on getting it redone this time. Ed got an estimate to me quickly based on photos and dimensions. I let him know I was still thinking of attempting the job myself having gone solo the first time around. He helpfully pointed out that the stripper needed to do the job right isn't available to the general public and offered to just handle the stripping part of the job at a much lower cost. We went that route, and I'm very happy with the results. I ran into some issues with the varnish picking up some of the stain due to being a little impatient waiting for it to dry, and Ed was quick to respond to my texts with advice on fixing it. His advice worked out perfectly and the finished door looks great. I can't recommend him highly enough. read more

My fiancé and I were considering buying new front doors since our front doors had a lot of weather damage from the sun and rain. We actually got a couple front door replacement estimates which would have cost us so much money to replace our double front entrance doors and these companies even commented on how beautiful our current doors were. When I called Ed he was very pleasant and personable to talk to. Looking at his work online, my fiancé and I were sold on having Ed refinish our doors. After all was said and done Ed did an amazing job and made our double doors look as good as new. Better yet, we saved so much money not having to replace our doors. I would recommend Ed to everyone. He truly takes pride in his work. Thanks Ed! read more

After much research to find someone to refinish my mahogany front doors, I found Ed and could not be happier! He was extremely professional and detailed. He gave me a quote via messaging, as I sent him pictures and dimensions of my door and transom. Once he began work, it took about 5 days to complete. He even filled in the wood grain for a smooth finish. The finish is amazing! Now my doors look better than they did when they were new. I don't need to worry about water and sun damage, because of the high quality products used to refinish them. if you are thinking about getting your doors refinished, look no further. I highly recommend Doors by Invision. Too bad when I sell my house I can't take my doors with me. read more

Ed is a nice friendly guy, but his price is astronomical. $3600 to strip and refinish the outside of an exterior wood door and frame! I almost fainted. I guess if I was a millionaire or had a million dollar house and didn't care how I spend money, but really? Wow. read more

The large oak entry door and sidelights on a house we recently bought were extremely weathered and looked terrible; the finish had been completely destroyed by sun exposure and water damage, and we really thought the door might be too far gone to fix. We'd talked to another guy about refinishing it, but that guy wanted to take the door off the hinges and take it to his shop for several days, leaving a big piece of plywood in place of the door and making it impossible for us to use our front door for that time. I emailed pics of the door to Ed. He said he could make it as good as new, sent before-and-after pictures of similar doors he'd refinished, and gave me an estimate via email. Ed said he'd be able to do all the work with the door in place, which was great -we'd still be able to go in and out. We set up a date for him to come out and start the project. It only took him about four days to complete, and the door seriously does look brand new. I am amazed at how beautiful the wood was underneath all that faded, blistered, corroded old varnish! He also matched the finish on the inside of the door perfectly, as you can see from the "threshold- before and after" pics posted here. The Chino oak door pics are also of our door, before and after - hard to believe it's the same door! Ed did meticulous work, and when we compared the cost of replacing the door and sidelights to what it cost to have Ed refinish it, it was a true bargain. I highly recommend Ed for any wood refinishing work you may need. He's a true craftsman, and you will be amazed at how beautiful it will look when he's done. He is professional, prompt, perfectionist, personable, and proud of his work. So Five P's... oops, Five Stars! :) read more

We recently did a complete remodel of our home's exterior and our last step was to decide on replacing our entryway doors or refinishing them. Our designer let us know that our doors had a lot of value and would be a wonderful touch to refinish the home's original doors while saving thousands on buying new one of the same quality. We are so happy we did!! The doors and the threshold are gorgeous, I can't even beleive I am walking up to the same house! I loved Ed form the moment we spoke on the phone, he is a great guy and an extremely talented craftsman. Succinctly put: Ed Arthur is an Artist and a Perfectionist who takes great pride in his creations! I use the word "creation" as he took a severely weathered, Cherry exterior door that even had some shrinkage gaps, and created a beautifully finished door that is actually better that when it was new. He took extra care to protect nearby plants, light fixtures, etc and left the job site as it was before he started. He knows his woods, their species and characteristics and works to bring out and enhance their intrinsic beauty. The products he uses are marine grade and not readily available, but boy do they produce an incomparable end result. Ed was easy to work with and although he has a big backlog, it is well worth the wait. Finally, he's not inexpensive, but the old adage was never truer: "you get what you pay for"! We were so lucky to have found Ed the owner of Doors By Invision. Our double from doors were an absolute mess, new in 1979 and exposed to the sun and weather ever since. They were chipped, cracked, dull, flakey and sort of greenish grey in color. Ed came out to look at them and pronounced that he could work this "Miracle", and he did. True to his word, prompt, on time, all day until it was done, and it only took a few days. He was a pleasure to have around, his work is exquisite and we only spent about half of what brand new doors would have cost. And the new doors would not have been as nice, fit as well, or used similar fixtures. Everyone who sees our "new" doors simply loves them! They look better than they did when new. It was a great decision to bring a great craftsman (Ed) on board to help us with this project! My wife and I highly recommend him. read more
