My front door and threshold had seen better days. After receiving a few warning citations from my City's neighborhood improvement division to repair or replace the door, I began researching options. Ed was the only responsive and reasonable person I reached out to regarding the project. Some vendors wanted me to remove the front door and bring it to their workshop for 3-5 days (which makes zero sense). Others just flat out said they didn't want to be bothered. It was a horrible job and I contacted Invision (Ed) and although he does not service my area (Inland Empire), he talked me off the cliff and helped me to strip and re-stain the doors myself. Ed is in high demand, but worth the wait. We have a mahogany door that I'd done the original finishing on around 10 years ago. I'm no pro, but I got some detailed instructions from the contractor that did the installation and spent a few weeks making sure I did everything right. Being busy and recalling how much time it took the first time around I decided to look for a pro to give me an estimate on getting it redone this time. Ed got an estimate to me quickly based on photos and dimensions. I let him know I was still thinking of attempting the job myself having gone solo the first time around. He helpfully pointed out that the stripper needed to do the job right isn't available to the general public and offered to just handle the stripping part of the job at a much lower cost. We went that route, and I'm very happy with the results. I ran into some issues with the varnish picking up some of the stain due to being a little impatient waiting for it to dry, and Ed was quick to respond to my texts with advice on fixing it. His advice worked out perfectly and the finished door looks great. I can't recommend him highly enough. read more

The large oak entry door and sidelights on a house we recently bought were extremely weathered and looked terrible; the finish had been completely destroyed by sun exposure and water damage, and we really thought the door might be too far gone to fix. We'd talked to another guy about refinishing it, but that guy wanted to take the door off the hinges and take it to his shop for several days, leaving a big piece of plywood in place of the door and making it impossible for us to use our front door for that time. I emailed pics of the door to Ed. He said he could make it as good as new, sent before-and-after pictures of similar doors he'd refinished, and gave me an estimate via email. Ed said he'd be able to do all the work with the door in place, which was great -we'd still be able to go in and out. We set up a date for him to come out and start the project. It only took him about four days to complete, and the door seriously does look brand new. I am amazed at how beautiful the wood was underneath all that faded, blistered, corroded old varnish! He also matched the finish on the inside of the door perfectly, as you can see from the "threshold- before and after" pics posted here. The Chino oak door pics are also of our door, before and after - hard to believe it's the same door! We were so lucky to have found Ed the owner of Doors By Invision. Our double from doors were an absolute mess, new in 1979 and exposed to the sun and weather ever since. They were chipped, cracked, dull, flakey and sort of greenish grey in color. Ed came out to look at them and pronounced that he could work this "Miracle", and he did. True to his word, prompt, on time, all day until it was done, and it only took a few days.
