Door to Door has been bought by UHaul and is now called UBox. The transition occurred during my 10 month storage experience and at first I was a little worried about what might happen to my crate/box/pod, but I was repeatedly assured via email and snail mail that UBox had me covered. I just moved, and arranged for my pod to be delivered to my new residence. The entire experience was flawless. Jennifer, who handles the UBox side of the business was so accommodating. She kept in constant contact with me, and called me multiple times to confirm. She's got mad skills! Today, 4 days after getting the pod delivered, I had it picked up. Bye Bye pod. Thanks for taking good care of my stuff for almost a year. These peeps are very gracious and really care about their customers. Hopefully, the transition from Door to Door to UHaul/UBox will carry these reviews along with. Thanks Jennifer! read more

Beware hidden fees for everything imaginable. You are not allowed to get your stuff early if you get a "promotional" cost. You will get charged the balance of the unused amount of time. Problem is that they don't tell you about the responsibility they'll just sneak you into whatever promotion based on how long you think you will stay. Thankfully they converted me back to regular cost otherwise it would have been a $70 fee for unused month instead of a $20 balance for regular payment per month... Just FYI, it was "very rare" that they made this exception. My card was stolen and numbers were reset. I was charged $20 for the card on file not going through instead of getting an email that says something like "do you need to update your card?"... Hidden score for them, there is nothing about a card not running through that costs $20. I used the 30 minute wait and pickup. No one told me (aside from the driver when I asked) that going beyond the 30 mins, costs $50 for each half hour thereafter. Sneaky. The box is on the small side, has very few loops to tie your stuff down and is only made of plywood. If you aren't in a good neighborhood use something made of metal not wood. read more

VERY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE. So expensive (don't trust the appealing initial quote they give you. I got a quote for 270 and now I am paying close to 700 $ for 2 months storage for to palettes, because they couldn't get my stuff delivered sooner than 7 days from when I called and so I went over into the 3rd month and was charged for another entire month!) Long waiting times on the phone and for pick up and delivery of your palettes VERY EXPENSIVE!!! read more

I clearly had a vastly different experience than some of the other Yelpers. I've had some rough moves in the past, so I was quite nervous about moving all my junk from Boston to LA. Given my student budget, timing and lack of space in the tiny Cambridge streets, door to door came through like no one else did. Other quotes were at least $500 more for the same service. Every time I called (and I called many times) I quickly had a service rep to answer my questions. They delivered my pod at the right time and the right place and picked it up shortly after I packed. They let me know when billing for storage would start, and with auto deduct it was soooo easy. I needed to access my pod a couple of months in, and it was once again a hassle-free process. I don't know how much crap other people have, but I only paid $79 per month for my storage, which is very competitive for the area. When I decided to deliver, I set up a 30-minute unload because our loading dock is crazy busy here in Hollywood. The driver was friendly and helpful and even waited an extra 15 in addition to helping me get my mattress upstairs. I would recommend door to door to anyone, especially those making long-distance moves (better service AND cheaper--it's a no brainer!) read more

Door to Door is the way to go, I've used them twice now and they have been very good to me both times ! The first time was easy, simple, they did what they said they would do, they kept me in the loop, reminded and informed through the entire process. The second time, recently in 2016, I had a very complicated situation that involved moving to a new house under construction, the construction delays caused delayed storage delivery and pick ups which was changing weekly and turned into monthly. This situation also involved an Ex wife and two separate Door to Door accounts that accidentally ended up with combined billing issues. Lets just say it had the potential to be a giant P.I.T.A. ! Serena Banks from Door to Door came to the rescue. Serena was outstanding! Overall she and Door to Door were very accommodating and flexible, they understood my dilemma and helped me work through the issues. When it all was said and done I walked away feeling like... that's exactly how all businesses should operate and deal with their customers... Thank you Serena and Door to Door ! read more

Bottom line: Door to door made my moving experience pain & stress-free. My moving pod arrived on Friday 3/18 in Hermosa Beach CA, it was picked up to be moved on Saturday 3/19, and then it arrived one hour early on the predetermined drop-off date of Saturday 3/26 in San Francisco CA. So the process was easy, quick, and pain free and I had my stuff with me in SF one week later - it was great! My process began with their sales team. I was emailing and calling my sales rep (Christian) directly and was getting immediate responses, so it was like having my own personal moving assistant. Then the experience only got better from the delivery and drop-off of my pod. Both Caesar (who dropped of my pod in Hermosa Beach CA on Friday 3/18) and Alfonso (who dropped off my pod in San Francisco on Saturday 3/26) did an excellent job! Both men were professional, friendly, helpful and did everything with a smile. My experience was beyond pain-free, and I will HIGHLY recommend Door to Door to everyone and anyone I know. read more

Don't use door to door if you plan to store things on their site. I could see loading up your storage container and moving directly to a new place but not for that and storage time in between. It's difficult to access your stuff and thy take like an hour to pull your pods out. Plus if you end your contract in the middle of your billing time they don't prorate and only charge you for the time you things were stored but they charge you the entire month. I wouldn't use this company for storage/moving again. read more

I have never written a review before, but I had to express my frustration for this moving company. My strong advice... DON'T USE DOOR TO DOOR!! My fiancee and I had to relocate to Portland OR from Long Beach CA and we decided to go with Door to Door because cost was low. What a mistake! Our initial phone call went really well, and setting up the appointment for pick up was easy. We moved right in the middle of the holidays, so there were some minor delays with the pick up and drop off of our moving containers which was understandable; however, I thought it was odd that this company didn't pick up or deliver on Wednesday's or over the weekend. This didn't bother me too much. Drop off of our containers went smooth, and the pick up for our scheduled date of 12/30/13 went smooth as well; however, I asked them to call me when our containers were picked up and in route to our destination. They never called. Our two containers were supposed to be delivered on 1/8/14 but we had to call them to get an update on our stuff. They said they would be delivered on 1/9/14 (we had already been roughing it with only the bare necessities for a little over a week). The morning of 1/9/14, we received a call not from Door to Door, but from the storage warehouse who works with Door to Door. They said there was a mix up and one of our containers was missing. We then had to contact Door to Door and track our container. They concluded that it was in NY city!!!! How THIS got mixed up is beyond me. When we asked for an estimate on our containers arrival, they said they could not give us an estimate until Monday 1/13/14. They dropped off our one container and thank goodness it was the container with our bed, couch, TV and major pieces of furniture, but it still doesn't make up for our things that our still not available to us. Door to Door has not been in contact since last week, and I finally had to call today to get an update on our belongings. They told us that is *should* be delivered today, but there is no guarantee that our stuff would get there by tomorrow. Door to Door NEEDS to compensate us for this awful experience. It's been 17 days and we still do not have all of our belongings! read more

We had a perfect experience. My Son graduated from College in SF last year and he needed to move back to Los Angeles AND store his stuff until he got a job and an apt of his own. He just completed those tasks (happy mom) and happy to say that his pod was promptly delivered to his new address. So we had moving and storage for 7 months, and there were no extra fees other than what was negotiated. Prompt responses and reliable. I don't recall if we set this up through a different location, possibly SF, I know the storage was in Carson. Our experience was good! read more

My boyfriend and I just moved from Chicago to Los Angeles, a relocation that is stress in ALL CAPS. Pods quoted us nearly TWICE what Door to Door quoted, which made me skeptical. I was treated so well by Marsha, who helped me book my containers and set up all the details over the phone from Seattle. Four days before we were scheduled to move, Chicago got hit with the coldest weather in over 20 years--the first wave of the infamous "Polar Vortex" that dumped about two feet of snow on the city and plunged temperatures to -40 for two days in early January 2014. I lived on a small residential street that is not plowed by the city, and was concerned that Door To Door wouldn't be able to bring our containers. Not only did they respect our moving date but the driver, Tom, was so good natured. He joked about his fork lift being a snow plow for the street. **THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS MOVING OPTION IF YOU ARE MOVING TO OR FROM A MAJOR CITY: Because of all the city street regulations, moving with containers or "Pods" can be a true headache because you're technically not allowed to park them ANYWHERE, sometimes not even in your own personal yard or driveway. Door To Door is the only company I could find that would still deliver the containers with a provisional "load time," which means that you have two hours exactly to load all of your belongings into the container(s) on your own while the driver waits in his truck that carries the containers to the shipping location. staying within our time allowance was fine but TIGHT. We hired two movers to help us load, and we finished RIGHT AT two hours (moving a studio/1BR from a 3-floor walk-up). Other companies require you to hire a moving company that then transports your stuff TO the shipping center (uh, and I should note that we were quoted nearly $800 FOR THAT SERVICE ALONE by another company). So while two hours is pretty stressful and bogus, it truly is the best that Door To Door can do in some cities. Take what you can get from Door To Door, and take the rest up with your Mayor. The only reason I gave Door To Door 4 stars instead of 5 is because, once we got to L.A., the unload situation was a bit of a headache in the planning stage. You don't really have total control over what day the containers are delivered, so keep that in mind when you sign a lease and plan a move-in date. We were prepared and worked things out a week prior, so they were very accommodating, but if you put off contact, you might be screwed. It's better to call them too much than too little. Also, because of street regulations again, we were only allowed the option to leave our containers on the street over night at our discretion (and risk getting a hefty ticket from the city at our cost) OR sign up for a 30-minute unload time, with the penalty of being charged $50 for every half hour we went over past that. There was no in between option. We hired movers to help with the unloading and had them pull everything out of the containers and onto the sidewalk, moving it up into our apartment from there. We finished unloading in about 15 or 20 minutes, but that was with four able bodies moving at TOP speed. Overall, great experience. Not looking to move cross-country again anytime soon but, if I did, I'd use them again for sure. read more

I used Door-to-Door again this year for a huge move out of the area - first in over twenty years for me. I had no issues at all like the other reviewers. I don't relate to anything they stated. My experience was with friendly and helpful customer service. They initiated my move by sending me a pallet of boxes to get me started and discounted the cost on the boxes. On the week of my move, I quickly realized I had WAY more stuff than would fit in the containers. They set up a redelivery that was painless so I got an extra and much needed container. The delivery was smooth at my destination and the driver was easily accessible via cell phone - he also was flexible with the pickup time. I really love this service and for the second time, was a happy customer! Highly Recommended! read more

I've used Door to Door three times, most recently from April 07 - Dec 09. I've also used their sister company, City to City, which will take your boxes long distances. I've found them impeccable each time. In my experience.. They've been easy and professional to deal with on the phone, consistent and thorough in follow up. They arrive when they say they will arrive. The fees are explained and the same as what I am billed. They've also been flexible when I wanted to add or subtract boxes. Nothing in my boxes has ever been damaged even though they must shift around a bit when being transported. There is never any dust or dirt on my items when they are returned, even after a long time in storage. If you want to get in to your boxes, you have to drive to their facility, so be prepared if it is far from you. You also have to pay a fee for them to forklift the boxes and set them up for you to get in. I've done this before and there has been plenty of room and time for me to get what I need. Each time, I look at different companies for price comparisons, and they are always the least expensive. read more

The storage is small and not that big. This is not the place you want to store your whole life of furniture. I must say it's affordable, reasonable, and I have no complaints. read more

Beware of HIDDEN COSTS. Their monthly fees might be cheaper than other companies, but they get you with their hidden costs. For example, they want to charge me $300 -- THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS -- because the delivery address for my containers is just a FEW MILE "outside their service area"...and it's still within the city of Los Angeles (my previous address where the containers were picked up from). Why didn't they ask me for my delivery zip, or let me know what their no-charge delivery zones are, when they gave me the cost estimate?? Plus, depending on pickup/dropoff location, they might not pickup/deliver on weekends. I don't recommend it, but if you do go with them for storage containers -- be sure to ask for cost of delivering the containers to your new address. Though I'm sure they'll still find something else to charge you for... read more

www.doortodoor.com 888-366-7222 I just recently used Door to Door Storage and I found them extremely helpful. I called them on a Saturday for a move the next day. The woman on the phone, named Virgie, was able to secure a drop off that day after she made a few calls. This was very poor planning on my part and Door to Door was able to come through for me! I had called their competitor PODS first and they wouldn't have been able to deliver their PODS until a few days later and at about twice the price. They dropped off 4 crates that afternoon and they picked them up on Monday, since they are not open on Sundays. So, I have found their service very good. So far they have billed me exactly as advertised. When they dropped off the crates, I filled out a form to automatically charge my credit card, so I don't know why the other reviewer had invoice problems. I will update this review after the billing cycle begins. My only complaint is that the storage crates are made of wood and the doors can be hard to close and secure, since they get a little beat up. Also the 5 x 8 x 7 feet dimensions are as measured from the outside. You loose a few inches inside, so I was not able to arrange the items as I had imagined. However, we were able to arrange everything into two crates as planned. We just had to be creative. Since we only used two of the four crates, we'll only be billed $126 per month. Overall, the service worked well for me. By the way, for comparison I had called PODS first. The person answering the phone was rude and couldn't understand my needs. The wouldn't have been able to deliver any PODS in time (granted I was making a last minute call) and the PODS would have been more than $220. read more

Door to Door Storage & Moving - Door to Door - Self Storage Near Me - Carson, California

I loved Door To Door. Every team member I dealt with was friendly, responsive and beyound helpful! My containers were delivered with no problem and they worked out a great day to drop off my things that fit my schedule. The units are small, but it's awesome that they delivered 2 just in case. My door wouldn't close on one of the units once I opened it, but they sent someone out to fix it the same day! The rates were lower than anyone elses and the customer service was great! They really look out for their customers and I REALLY appreciate them! read more

This is the worst moving company you could sign a contract with. I am a very intelligent person who has made large purchases like homes and cars and understand contracts. The storage contract I signed is in direct conflict with how they sell their contracts. They will tell you that everything is included and leave out that they fee you to death. Even so much as visiting your unit. They charged me for rope on transporting my things to my account. Before I left I was not told nor was there a sign posted with their reuturn policy which apparently that they accept no returns. Just an absolute nightmare from the day after my things were picked up. Unnecessary stress from a staff who smiles wholes sticking the knife in after having restated ad nauseum how it's all in their contract. Again when moving it's got to be right up there with the highest of stressors, I was told one thing and given another. The old bait and switch. Do not trust or use this company. I'm mild mannered enough but this has pissed me odd enough to file a complaint with the BBB. Hate them! If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

+++++LOOK AT THE HORRIBLE reviews people!! Stay away. They over charged us on everything. They were rude on the phone and damage a wooden fence on my property. I will never do business with them again, I would rather pay more money to another company that's reputable with higher standards. read more

I've never had so much trouble just making contact with a professional business. Was told so many times that I'd receive a call back, only to wait and wait and wait. Ultimately issues did get sorted out, but this was much more frustrating than it ever needed to be. read more

This company is out of business effective May 15, 2017. They filed bankruptcy in the middle of my move and now I can't find my 4 containers. UHaul bought them in bankruptcy court, but are having enormous problems integrating systems, customers, etc. It's been 3 weeks and UHaul can't find my containers either! Is anyone else in this same situation?? read more

Buyer beware. The storage facilities are not open on the weekends. For anyone that works a regular 9-5, it will be impossible to get your items out of storage. They tell you when they are selling you that you can get in on the weekend if you specifically schedule, but this is only available Saturday morning from 8:30am - 11:30am. Very inflexible and unaccommodating. Oh and there's also a $55 fee to "terminate" storage... i.e. they charge you to remove your items from storage.... These guys are ridiculous. read more

We had a great experience with door-to-door during our move from Dallas to LA. The sales staff went above and beyond to provide extraordinary customer service and made me feel like my belongings would be in good hands and he would make sure of it. The person who delivered the storage cubes to our apartment was equally wonderful to work with - kind, patient, helpful. We loaded two storage units on our own, they were picked up on schedule and kept in storage in LA for a month without any issues. The only slight disappointment was that we weren't able to coordinate drop-off on our preferred date, but this is because we didn't know what our new address would be until a week before our move-in date. Not door-to-door's fault. Fortunately, they allowed us to grab our belongings from their location on our preferred date without any problems. I would definitely recommended door-to-door to others! read more

I had a great experience with Door to Door. I planned on storing a number of items from a more traditional storage place to off site pods. The cost quoted me was less than half of "Pods" and of my more traditional storage unit. The container arrived on time, the guy was super helpful with explanations and set up & the container was clean. These guys are great (esp. Daniel the manger) and the cost can't be beat! read more

I used this company for a move from Los Angeles to NY. They were efficient and easy to deal with once the order was confirmed (slow communication in the beginning with getting estimates, times, etc.). They were on-time with both the pick-up and delivery and ALL of my stuff got to NY in one piece. They used a company called Albert Moving in NY to deliver the container, and they were great too. read more

Terrible experience. I was told I did not need to be present for pick up of the pod. I came home to find my neighbors lawn destroyed - huge tire trenches, destroyed grass and displaced rock. They did not leave a note or attempt to call with any sort of explanation. I called multiple times and sent in pictures of the lawn - spoke with very nice customer service people that could not help me. Never spoke with the driver or anyone that could tell me anything but I'm sorry and to wait for my claim to be processed. My neighbors were moving, so we ended up hiring people to fix the yard. Never heard from Door to Door in regards to my claim. read more

this is the worst company i have ever had to deal with!! i became a customer in 2008 when it was originally public storage and then they sold out to door to door. i stayed with them....big mistake!!! they didn't secure a building in orange county and then move my belonging out to pico rivera!! the worst customer service people ever!!!! they tried to charge me for shipping my pod back ($100) to orange county to my new storage until i found out they had a facility in orange county again and i demanded my money back! then i closed it out and found a $25 unauthorized charge to my account which they told me was their "close out" fee...they're so full of bs, my contract stated nothing about any close out costs. all this company does is try to screw you and take your money...run as fast as you can from this place!!!! read more
