We had the loveliest dinner at Door Prize. The patio super cosy and dog friendly, the service was excellent and very friendly and the food delicious. The owner came by to give our dog some of their homemade dog treats and had lots of lovely recommendations for the area. The atmosphere was probably the best part of our visit. It felt a little more removed from everything else going on around town, which made it a more relaxing place to eat. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to it. The fried tomatoes were cut way too thick and just weren't good. Our food came out cold, which was disappointing. I had the kafta, and it was just okay. I also tried the pierogies that my wife and kids ordered--they were decent, but nothing I'd go back for. Overall, the atmosphere was better than the food. read more

We were in town for Solid Sound and it was hot! So Saturday afternoon we went looking for a restaurant where we could sit down and have some food, beer, and AC. Door Prize was hitting on all cylinders. We came in at a time between lunch and dinned so they ware not taking on many new patrons but they let the three of us sit at the bar. We ordered up three beers while enjoying the coolness and checking out the food menu. The interior is some nice dark wood with just enough lighting. the bar was comfortable. I ordered up the schnitzel sandwich and the guys got potato pierogis and beef pierogis. My sandwich was pretty good. I of course ordered it without the mayo so only have the pickles. The meat was maybe a little thing and close to overdone. The pickles were sour and bright and added some good kick to the sandwich. The fries were bountiful, well seasoned, and good. The guys liked the pierogis. We ended with a shot for some reason and that was good too. I guess that was Andrew's idea. The bartender was friendly, kept things going, and nice. I guess this should be a five star review except that the weirdness of some people could come in and not others until dinner time. I should be grateful we got in but I and not sure what was going on. Anyway I am sure that we will be back at the Door Prize with the next Solid Sound because it is good! read more

The ambience and service, the owners, the cook and of course the food and drinks were outstanding. I've been all over and I was blown away by their Ukrainian salmon dish. It was extraordinary. Fresh, perfectly cooked, multi layered flavors, fresh. The chocolate chip cookies were a perfect warm ending with just a touch of salt. And the drinks were outstanding. Balanced. They have big plans here and it's a massive space attached to the (also very neat and retro styled) Hotel Downstreet. Definitely go visit. This is a MUST!! Went here for Saturday brunch and we had the Bread Pudding French Toast (w/ roasted apples, caramel, and whipped crème fraiche) and the Hexagon Bagel Plate with a smoked salmon dip, cucumber, pickled onion, capers & dill. DELICIOUS! Atmosphere is gorgeous, service was incredibly friendly and very professional, and the food was really unique and delicious!! Prices are reasonable for such a great atmosphere and such an interesting, taste filled menu. Definitely returning!! As a brand new restaurant, they're off to a great start. While in North Adams for the weekend, we had dinner at Door Prize. The owner and staff were very friendly. The drinks and food were all delicious. I am a major fan of French Dip sandwiches and theirs was one of the best i have ever had! I will definitely return the next time we are in the area. The only mildly negative comment is that the menu was rather limited. That is the only reason for 4 stars, rather than five. read more

This place is outstanding! Not only are the owners and staff some of the friendliest folks around, the atmosphere is also fantastic. And the food! Our party of three had brunch on the patio. To start, we had a virgin beety mary, and maple lemonade. The beety mary was like a good bloody mary, but with the sharpness turned down by the beet juice. Excellent, would order again with or without the vodka. The maple lemonade was also great. The maple wasn't overpowering, but wasn't unnoticeable. It was a nice touch. We shared khachapuri, a Georgian cheese bread. The bread was so light and airy, yet sturdy enough to remain crisp even with the melted cheese. I would eat this forever. The grandpa's plate was your normal 2 eggs, bacon, toast breakfast platter. But it stands out - impressive fresh fruit cup, delightful brioche toast, and a flavorful apple butter. Short rib hash, fantastic. Tender short ribs, potatoes, egg, I almost regret not ordering this for myself. Almost. Because I did have the shakshuka, which was the best I've ever had. It definitely had the usual tomato base, but it was absolutely loaded with root vegetables and beet greens. Whenever I'm in the area, I will definitely visit again read more

I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a welcoming, friendly, warm experience. Upon entering the hostess ignored my friend and I, as she was busy chatting with what later appeared to be her loyal customers. My friend and I decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was phenomenal. He was attentive, friendly and experienced. As we sat and enjoyed our drink and appetizer (which was tasty), we witnessed the hostess talk to other staff members about the bartender on more than one occasion. She was upset with him because he was helping his customers rather than getting her a personal drink. The kicker to this is, it turns out she was the OWNER!!!! She was incredibly rude by making not making all of her customers feel welcomed (clearly only her regulars), undermining her staff in front of customers and talking badly about her staff where customers can hear. I will not return to this establishment because of her. This is unfortunate because her other partner who created a beautiful and warm atmosphere and has great connections with people and the continuity, will lose out. In addition, I feel for the bartender and other wait staff who do an amazing job. I would not be surprised if she loses wonderful employees because of her actions. read more
