There was a bin with pre-made biscuits and other warm breakfast items, but the main attraction is the grill. There are a number of breakfast items available that are made fresh on the grill. I wish I had taken a picture of the Denver sandwich which is exactly what it sounds like...a large Denver omelet between two pieces of grilled toast. I had a combo with 2 meats, 2 eggs, and toast. The eggs were fresh which I had scrambled. I chose bacon and ham and got two slices of each. A slice of toast was included, and when I opened the box, there was also a nice serving of hash browns. The price point is unbeatable as all that I mentioned totaled $13. The grill staff was very friendly, and everything is fresh. I usually look for good breakfast places when I stop overnight in my travels, and Valley City didn't have any listed for just breakfast. So I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the gas station and found this cafe. Breakfast surpassed all my expectations, and I hope others in town and traveling through will take the time to stop here and have an outstanding meal to start their day! (They also serve lunch, and from what I could tell, broasted chicken is the star of that show!)

He frequents this cafe when he is in the area duck hunting. The outside is bedraggled and the decor/atmosphere was exactly what you would expect for the setting. The only other patrons were the local priest and a gaggle of church ladies. The menu was small but covered all the basics of breakfast. Mom and I had eggs, toast, and a meat while DD had pancakes. She tried to order 3 but the waitress advised her they were big. When they arrived she was glad she hadn't ordered three. She could barely finish the two. They were the thick fluffy pancakes you'd expect from such a home town sort of place. The coffee was hot, satisfying and our cups were always full. My son advised that at dinner they serve you ice cream or cake as part of the meal. There were some goodies for sale and DD picked a peanut butter and chocolate rice krispie bar for a snack down the road. It was very tasty! If you find yourself in tiny quiet town of Medina stop by and try this blast from the past. W
