I will always prefer soft serve to hard packed any day. I'm sorry. I digress They have good ice cream here at good prices. You also get a lot for your money. They do have some short order food offerings here which I have had before and they are decent too. Excellent way to cool off on a hot day!

I tried the "Olympic 2024" jambon beurre special (and it was the best version I have had in years), and the Cottonwood pizza was spectacular. The way components are thoughtfully chosen from mostly local or house-sourced ingredients is stunning in and of itself. There is a level of culinary execution found here that you would expect, but find lacking, in many cities considered "food vacations." The incredible food pairs both admirably and comparatively with the ciders. The tap menu (consisting of mostly local ingredient-focused ciders) truly shines, with so many excellent options for a variety of taste preferences that it's difficult to say which is best (aside from personal preference). Personally, I found their Strawberry Rhubarb cider to be one of the best I have found nationally. This is definitely worth going a bit off your route, no matter how much of a cider or food aficionado you may be. The setting is a 4th generation farm (including Greg, the obligatory amazing farm dog), and the tasting room is comfortably decorated in farmcore crossed with a modern vibe. Honestly, if it weren't for the visible cider-making process happening just off the dining area floor (a plus IMHO), you could be excused thinking the tasting room was located in a variety of major cities. This spot will get me to come back to the state, specifically for their food and drink.

The "good stuff" was a little higher priced than what I would have liked to have seen for a small town shop. We got a little of 5 different cheeses and loved them all, especially the ghost pepper cheese. I got several New York Strip steaks. I have to say I was disappointed in the strip steak because of the large inedible part of on one of the steaks (the one on the bottom of the stack,) so I didn't notice until I opened the bag at home.

It was "Don's Quality Meats" originally. My mom had to get her Kirby vacuum cleaner repaired and the Kirby shop was next door that's how we found D.Q.M'.s.My estranged oldest brother who was a grown up&lived elsewhere that we rarely get to see, would appear Christmas morning every year with D.Q.M.'s Jerky wrapped in the funny papers or shiny like chrome... aluminum foil! As kids we loved that and banked on him coming bearing gifts of jerky. It has been a very special part of my life until 2012 when it disappeared,(then called "Shawn's Quality Meats" a different place and guy but same recipe) Miraculously three years ago Mom's Church ate breakfast at Gloria's restaurant and bar in Maple valley next to the cop shop/Hwy. 18-MV exit. Two doors over is MV Meats. She bought their jerky for us for Christmas knowing that each year it's going to be a disappointment because our jerky has been gone for years and then Christmas morning we open the jerky and received a miracle(an actual Christmas Miracle) ( Because Our Jerky had literally been extinct for half a decade already but we were still struggling to accept the loss, I'm very serious!)We're from Black Diamond /Lake Sawyer area and had no idea the fairly new Maple Valley Meats we've seen it, haven't been there yet. So I went there to figure out if the jerky was related some way to the real deal when inside I see Don... The Original guy from the Original Kent shop in the 80's! I shook his hand like a man, not a god. Told him this story and thanked him and bought some jerky!!!Our special jerky again!
