However I feel there's a good consistency in the teachers there. They keep "floating" teachers there to a minimum, so it's almost always one of her regular teachers at pick up and drop off. There are good programs to keep the little ones busy. I believe there's a regularly schedule rotation of art and music teachers that rotate through the rooms. They also have a surprisingly robust (and newly renovated) outdoor space and playground for the various rooms. My 2 year old spends a lot of time exploring outdoors in a safe and contained space, which I think is a good thing. CCB does a good job of communicating any changes in schedule, staff and events. It's a relatively big place, but seems to well-organized. They also provide food which is a plus, since meal prepping for our little one was a big time sink and also probably less healthy. Overall I would highly recommend CCB and wouldn't hesitate to send another child there in the future.

She would frequently go out of her way to see old teachers and say hello to the friendly staff. CCB did everything they could to help our child adapt and grow while there. Any time we had questions the staff and teachers worked together to improve the situation. Besides the excellent care, the facilities and programs were excellent and never felt tired. We felt everyone there was proud to help the center be at its best. People clearly were proud to do the right thing and maintain the reputation that CCB earned over the decades.

I loved being able to spend time in the classroom, getting to know my child's friends and having an active role in his preschool experience. At PUNS, we share Piaget's belief that children learn by doing and that play is the work of childhood. We strive to teach the "whole child" through educational instruction and play-based learning throughout all of our classrooms, including enrichment courses that enable children to expand on interests in STEM, literature, art, music and more. Children are further engaged in hands-on learning through educational centers that change throughout the year, dedicated gross motor time, our large, fenced-in playground and the PUNS Garden. We offer small class sizes, experienced teachers and flexible cooperative options to enable parents to work and learn in the classroom alongside their child(ren). We pride ourselves in being an allergy-friendly school. At PUNS, our goal is to encourage every child to enjoy their preschool experience, develop positive feelings about themselves, engage in creative play that encourages new friendships, and prepare themselves for the next steps in their educational journey.

In the infant room, a woman sat in a rocking chair while two infants did tummy time on the carpet under her. One of the children and spit up a considerable amount and no one noticed or did anything about it. Additionally, I heard staff talking negatively about other staff right at the front desk as the supervisor gave me a tour! I was shocked. They didn't smile or engage with the kids. In the infant classroom I watched as 3 babies cried and cried and neither caregiver even looked at them. These were babies who needed something and the staff did nothing. When they did pick up a baby to feed it, they were rough and didn't try to comfort the baby at all - simply stick in the bottle. You would hope that while the baby got fed and received some personal attention that the caregiver could smile or try to talk to the baby a little. Babies need to feel loved and they certainly aren't going to get that there. Most of the caregivers I saw were very young women who seemed to not want to be there. A lot of the 'teachers' weren't there either time and they had floats filling in. The two classrooms where my child could have gone had no windows. It was just a very sad environment and I could never leave my child there.

Many of the local…read morepublic school systems offer a better, more complete, and more supportive environment for children. Here's why: My son was abruptly expelled from Allendale Columbia, and the school has made no attempt to rectify the situation. I'm going to communicate the facts of the situation and let you draw your own conclusions about how students are treated by Allendale Columbia. As background, my son (a first grader) has some mild behavioral issues that I acknowledge can be a challenge to deal with. We were working with the school, my son's pediatrician, and my son's therapist. We were seeing positive improvements and our impression was that things were headed in a good direction. On February 24th, 2021, at approximately noon, I informed Allendale Columbia that we might not be returning to the school for the following school year. On the same day, at 3:45pm, I received a call from Interim Head of School Shannon Baudo. Baudo claimed there had been "an incident" in the after school program, provided few details, and told me that my son was expelled from school effective immediately. He never had a chance to say goodbye to his friends or collect his belongings. We never received a written incident report. Two days later, on February 26th, my wife and I had a phone call with Baudo and the lower school principal Michelle Feiss. By this time, Baudo's story changed, and she insinuated that my six year old son had acted inappropriately towards a girl in the after school program. This is an allegation I take extremely seriously, so I called the parents of the girl, who were not aware of the severity of the situation. The school has still provided no proof, and no written incident report. The school refused to refund any tuition, even the tuition for the portion of the school year we did not receive. Only you can make decisions for your family. However, I feel that I'd be doing a disservice to the parent community in Rochester if I did not make you aware of this event, and the school's callous and abrupt response.
