The fries were hot and fresh, and the queso with jalapeños was a really good combo. We got a large and it was easily enough for two people. With all the queso and sour cream, it gets pretty heavy and filling, so it's perfect for sharing. They actually have a lot of vegetarian options, which makes this a great spot in the mall dining pavilion for vegetarians. They also have Canadian poutine on the menu, which I would LOVE to try because I'm a big poutine fan, but unfortunately their gravy is beef-based. I really wish they offered a vegetarian gravy option too! We'll definitely be back. Service was very quick. The Triple Cheese Fries looked so good on the menu board, so that's already on my list for next time!

This place is located in the food court of Menlo Park Mall and they specialize in fries and hot…read moredogs. I've been here twice now and my experience both times were drastically different. The first time was a bit of a mess. Orders were slow coming out, customers were confused on if their orders were ready because they didn't really call them out, and the fries we got were limp (pictured) and they didn't fill up the basket AND skimped on the toppings. They were also unsalted but they provided a communal salt shaker where the napkins, utensils, and ketchup were so that was interesting. We went again and this time, they were more efficient and did make an effort to call out your order. The fries also held up better and were even crispy on the exteriors even though there was a slight wait between my two items. I also felt like there was an adequate amount of toppings and fries. There was no communal salt shaker and the condiment/napkin area was a bit of a mess and running low on items, but it was fixed when I notified them so that's good. Both times, we ordered: LARGE FRIES: it's a basket of fries around $8. REGULAR VEGGIE FRIES: this is their medium container of fries topped with cheese sauce, sour cream, and diced tomatoes. They also come with green onions but I opted out of that. It's a good combination of flavors and fancier than just fries with a hint of "veggies". It's close to $10. Overall, a good place for us - we're allium free vegetarians - to get a savory snack in the mail. Service seems to be all over the place and no matter the quality, no one seems happy about their job, haha. The fries do cost a bit more than at your typical fast food joint, but they're open 7 days a week. One of my kids has multiple food allergies and the fries here are gluten free and fried in sunflower oil. We usually go to Chick-fil-A for fries but we seem to only go to the mall on Sundays so NY Fries got on our radar. He is allergic to wheat, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and avocado (among other things) and he can have the fries here with no issues so we'll continue to support them.

They do not greet you or thank you for your purchases and the time being here. Ambiance: There was no music playing and you can just hear other customers talking with their friends and family. The tables were dirty as if no one had cleaned them all day. There were garbage and crumbs all over the floor. The garbage cans were overflowed with garbage. The chicken sandwich tasted just ok and like any other restaurant. The fries tasted like normal fries. The fried chicken was ok and tasted better with the gravy. The peach mango pie was delicious and probably the best part of the meal. The pineapple quencher was too watered down. Overall: I might come back here if they fixed their service, had a cleaner dining area and when the food tastes a little better. It is definitely not worth the effort to drive out of the way to get this type of food.

This also had cheese or some kind of cream inside between the bun and the hotdog. It was definitely different from other places. Overall: This was an OK experience. The food was not extraordinary where it makes me want to come back right away or give it another try with something else. We quickly found out that they only served lunch and dinner. After COVID-19, they stopped serving breakfast options. TLDR: The drive-in experience at this Sonic is not particularly compelling but it's still better…read morethan the drive-thru. Food-wise, the only thing that interests me is the happy hour pricing on slushes and limeades. Although this location has a drive-thru, I recommend the drive-in experience because it's really the only reason to come here and you won't necessarily get faster or better service waiting behind 4-8 other cars at the drive-thru. When you pull into a numbered drive-in stall, you can take your time browsing the menu before pushing the red button to order. After the stall attendant takes your order and repeats it back to you, you can either pay by dipping your card into the magnetic strip reader (whoa, outdated) or pay when the car hop comes to your car with your order. My total waiting time from ordering to eating was less than five minutes at a drive-in stall, but the ordering process was rife with difficulty. It was a little windy, so the speaker attendant had trouble hearing me. He also didn't confirm whether my payment went through, and just abruptly ended the call after repeating my order back to me. The carhop was friendly, but she wasn't wearing the signature roller skates that Sonic carhops are supposed to wear. I'm guessing this is due to the severe lack of job applicants who know how to roller skate (they're all teenagers). I ordered a standard burger combo with fries, which was fine, but the real knockout was the peach slush. The two mints that came with my order were a nice touch, as were the extra napkins. I'm surprised almost of all the recent reviews for this location are complaining about the drive-THRU rather than drive-IN, since the latter is an experience unique to Sonic and the time spent waiting just to reach the drive-thru window is noticeably longer than at a drive-in stall. Why people are somehow expecting fast-food service here while idling in their cars and wasting gas like they're at a McDonald's drive-thru is an interesting consumer behavior enigma. (Spoiler: it's because most of them are paying with cash and/or not using mobile/online ordering.) There's also a dining room inside if you want to order at the counter, although most people don't even know this is an option.
