Had an amazing experience here yesterday. We went in to get a cronut because we heard how awesome they were. While waiting in line the guy in front of me bought the last two....... I asked if they were out and the worker replied "yes". I walked out and jumped in the car. Disappointed we didn't get the donut we came for, the guy in front of me came out and apologized for taking the last two and offered to give us one..... what a nice guy huh? Well I i go back in to get the donut and the guy paid for our donut as well. What a nice gesture is was on his part and it made it a great experience for us and made us remember that during these crazy times, there are great people in this world!! Have been meaning to check out this spot for so long and finally made it in. I tried their Cronut and fell in love with first bite!! So flaky, chewy and perfectly sweet! I may have to get one every week moving forward. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was the atmosphere wasn't a great me for eating your treat there. There was no music and felt very dark and had storage pushed in the back. $-$$ Donut Star is my neighborhood donut shop and I've been there several times. Donuts are probably one of my all time favorite things to eat, and as I've gotten older I've become more discerning in what I look for in the perfect donut. I've learned that the real magic and skill is in the donut dough, or donut base. I think far too many places just place the focus on the toppings, the icing/frosting, over the top sprinkles, cereal, or cookie crumbles. I really appreciate when a donut is balanced and not overly sweet. With Donut Star the dough, regardless of the type of donut, just tastes like generic fried dough. I was so excited when I saw they had a Red Velvet Donut, I mean yum! While the donut itself was the perfect red color, it really didn't have a specific flavor. Then it was topped with a very sweet frosting and chocolate drizzle. It kind of just tasted like fryer oil and sugar. I was really hoping the donut would have a chocolatier flavor and a cream cheese frosting, closer to a proper Red Velvet cake. I will say though, the donuts, especially the cake donuts, have a really perfect texture. So light and fluffy, with a great crumb. So many times donuts can be too dense. The MVP for me on this visit were the fritters. Not joking, they're the size of my face! They have strawberry and apple fritters, and they are both equally delicious! So moist in the middle, more crisp around the edges, and lightly glazed. When in doubt just get the giant fritter. A dozen donuts is about $21, which I think is pretty average cost wise. I've always liked Donut Star, but there are so many donut shops now that each donut shop really has to step up their game. If a donut is just a decent average donut now people will just go looking for better options elsewhere. Next time I'm loading up on fritters, and will try some of their Cronuts, Bagels and Danishes. read more

Customer Service: 10/10 There were 2 employees working when we stopped by and they were both SO friendly and helped us figure out what donuts to try! They have a good mix of different flavored donuts, different fillings, and different flavored icings/glazes as well. Price: 7/10 Most of their donuts are between $1.50-$2.50 each and their donut holes are 0.25 per donut hole. Their cronuts are the most expensive on the donut menu, they are around $3.75. Taste: 7/10 We seriously LOVED their cronuts. They are pretty big and were really flaky, buttery and delicious. We got a cronut with chocolate drizzled on it, but you can get one plain as well. Divey donut shop that is open 24 hours. I haven't been at a strange time of day, but I am curious to know how lucrative a 24 hour donut shop is in this area. Hopefully they get a lot of drunk or high people with late night and post-party sweet tooth munchies. The donuts are clearly made fresh. I had a custard filled donut and it was perfection. Put Krispy Kreme and Dunkin to shame. The donut holes are also tasty and the perfect size. A nice variety of donut holes and they will give whatever mix you desire. I love the chocolate glazed and the blueberry donut holes. It's a nice little stop if you're strolling around the shopping center it is in, or want a quick sweet treat on the go. Well, we tried to go to Krispy Kreme, but apparently it was too late. Anyway, this was fairly close by and open 24 hours. So we went in, pretty small location, but there were a lot of options. The worker guy was really nice, very chill. He gave us sample donut holes. They were great and tasted very fresh. Some of the donuts cost more than the others, they aren't marked clearly, but the worker guy told us. Anyway, they were really good, I will be going back. The donut pricing overall could be improved, mainly signage, but I want to try everything! I'd recommend for a late night treat for sure! read more

Donut star was a unique experience. I was greeted by possibly the most perky counter helper I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She was very helpful in making suggestions (it was my first time at Donut Star). I got a wide assortment of donuts for a party I was having. Love this little donut shop. When you live in Lehi and every bakery is closed on Sunday, this is your closest ally. One of the big standout reasons, why I'll come back here again and again, is that they have the freshest crullers in town. While most shops won't even attempt to make a cruller, others will try and they end up hard and dry by the time I pick one up. Average donuts. So an average review. We had these brought into my work to eat. They are nice and big and thick but none of us cared for them as much as our usual donut places nearby. Maybe if we had them fresh not a couple hours later they would be better The chocolate frosting was great. I was yelping things that were open near me last night around midnight and was completely surprised when I found a donut shop that was LITERALLY open 24hrs. 24 hrs people?!?! First the customer service walking in was amazing. The guy working was totally helpful and I told him I'd never been in before and what did he recommend? He told us that the apple fritters were always a good choice no matter what- so we got those, an old fashion chocolate donut, and a glazed cinnamon roll. They actually had a pretty decent selection of donuts when we walked in so there was a variety to choose from. My verdict on the donuts is that they did taste a little old and not fresh but I understand its a little past midnight and im not gonna fresh ones like the morning would have. But that being said that fritter donut was a 7.5/10 and the others a solid 7. So would I come back? Yes. I mean theres not many donuts you can get at midnight around here amd theyre actually pretty good donuts. Here's a tip: when it's a heat wave and your a/c is broken, I suggest getting that fixed. I walked in, and it was stifling hot. I looked at the poor employee and couldn't imagine working under these conditions. The owner needs to either fix the a/c or send their employees home and they can work inside a heated bakery in 105 degree heat. I bet they get the a/c fixed pretty fast. Hey owner! I loves me some donuts. They are the Cadillac of the pastry world. So when a new place opens, I get real excited y'all. I came in on a weekday afternoon and ordered 3 different donuts. 1. Classic Maple Bar 2. Chocolate cake with sprinkles 3. Orange glaze with sprinkles I like sprinkles... So let's start with the good! Probably one of the best maple bars I've ever had. It was just really nice. The orange glazed was... Good, not amazing, but that's the first time I've seen that option at a donut shop, so that's pretty cool! I was so excited to see a new donut place open close to my work; I've been waiting for MONTHS for it to open! Finally I saw the open sign lit up yesterday (apparently it's been open for a bit?) and had to try it ASAP. I've left lots of donuts reviews before (read my review of Banbury Cross to get some background of why I'm so snobby). And I'm excited to leave a review for Donut Star today. I came at about 8:30am. There were a lot of cars parked outside, but thankfully there was no line like there is at Daylight Donuts. Although, even though I'm only getting a few donuts, I always get behind someone who's ordering a dozen or more. ALWAYS. I could tell right when I looked at the case that these donuts would meet my snobby standard. Hallelujah. They looked just like the donuts from home. I know that if the case had been full, there would be even more variety than what I saw. They weren't done preparing or loading the case, so there weren't any cake donuts visible. They were able to frost and sprinkle one for me though. They had all the regular stuff: jelly filled (which I can't comment on because I hate jelly donuts), bear claws, twists, holes, and cinnamon rolls. They even had frosted with coconut, just like back at home. Missing: crumb donuts (cake and yeast), and plain glazed buttermilk. The buttermilk donuts are bar style, so a little different than home, but similar to Banbury. I got a maple one, just to get a sense of their buttermilk donuts. I want to come back when the case is more full with all of their options. I was a little bit surprised that they wouldn't have been completely ready by 8:30am, but what they had was enough. In addition to the appearance of the donuts, I spied the pink donut boxes, native to California. In hopes of identifying some California roots in this shop, I commented on this to the friendly lady helping me. She explained that the owner of Donut Star shops down in CA is friends with the owner here, and let him use the name up here in Utah. I had even higher hopes for my donuts after that conversation. So far I have eaten a maple bar and half of a chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting. I still haven't tried the buttermilk or the old fashioned. But don't worry, I will! I'm happy to report that the maple bar and the chocolate cake donut did NOT disappoint. I will be coming back here if for no other reason than those two donuts. They had this awesome crispiness on the outside, and tasted great. The maple icing was great, better quality than other shops around town. The chocolate cake donut was kind of tiny, but good things come in small packages, you know? Know this, donut eaters: I'll be back. I'm thankful I don't have to go downtown for a donut now. Though, the proximity of this shop to my work could be an issue for my weight. read more

We have come here a couple times, this experience was probably the worst one, it wasn't very busy but the woman working seemed agitated that we were there, I don't know if it was because we were wearing masks, and none of the employees were. But we were friendly with her to no avail. Other than that the donut selection was impressive and everyone seemed to enjoy what they choose. The jelly and cream filled were definitely the star.
