We got cinnamon sugar, chocolate glazed and chocolate with sprinkles. The kids loved them and we were pleased with them as well. They're made and topped while you're in the store! Definitely worth giving them a try!

This trip I got a blueberry, a creme cheese and a Boston cream one. My favorite was the Boston cream, my least favorite was the cream cheese. We also got a glazed donut and a twist, both of these for the first time. The donut was better than you can get at the famous places. The twist was a cross between a donut and a cinnamon roll. Very good. There was a line when we arrived but it moved fairly quickly. There was only one person at the register, he was filling orders, answering the phone and taking payments, so not real friendly, but not rude. I noticed while we were walking that they have a good selection of other dishes other than sweet stuff. Tempted to try something different next time. We sat in the adjoining seating area that is shared with a sandwich shop. The seating area was clean and huge. No trouble finding a seat here. I am sure we will continue to stop here on every trip.

I had tried another highly rated coffee shop in Oak Island the day before and was honestly confused by the reviews. The coffee tasted watered down and the matcha was a hard no for me. Seaside Mermaid completely redeemed the Oak Island coffee situation. They also have a great selection of sugar-free syrups, which I really appreciated, and the donuts were delicious! (Mermaid donuts! How fun) Plus, there's taffy, fudge, ice cream, desserts, and an adorable boutique attached. Basically, you go in for coffee and suddenly you're browsing gifts with a donut in your hand. Highly recommend stopping here if you're in Oak Island! I gave a 5 for friendly service, cleanliness, and good selection. Ciao for now
