My spouse and I are staying at a local Airbnb in town about five minutes from here and it was a…read morerainy evening so we wanted to grab a bottle of wine or two. I headed to watering can wines and I couldn't have possibly been more pleased with my experience. I expected to walk into a small wine shop, and instead I was greeted in a beautiful open marbled lobby space by two individuals serving tastings and glasses, as well as several tables of happy patrons, chatting, drinking, and snacking. I asked if it were possible to purchase some wine bottles and where that might be located and the most lovely woman I have ever met, Dianne, showed me the old wine shop space, the new space, and the temporary space while the new space is set to be open. I shared my wine preferences with Dianne, who then suggested I try the Merlot that they have at the tasting bar. She and her lovely male counterpart poured me a very generous tasting while telling me about the history of their shop and the wine that I was drinking. I asked to peruse the Merlot section a bit further, and after giving me some time to ponder, Dianne joined and discussed what may be the best option for me. Dianne was incredibly kind and generous in her helping me choose my selection. My spouse and I are happily trying our first bottle and excited to try the other. We plan to return to the airbnb we are at and are equally excited to return to watering can wines and see Dianne again! Hopeful to be able to stay and enjoy a glass on sight next time! From the moment we walked in, they came across as cold, arrogant, and completely uninterested in the people keeping their business open. No smile, no welcome, no warmth. Instead, the atmosphere felt tense, as if customers were an inconvenience rather than guests. Ironically, most of the staff were genuinely pleasant and friendly. Unfortunately, that wasn't true of the family member working there, whose attitude was just as hostile. It seems the culture starts at the top, and it shows. The saddest part is that this area is full of wonderful wineries where you're treated like you're appreciated. Those owners are welcoming, personable, and grateful for your business. There's simply no reason to spend your time or money at a place where you're made to feel unwelcome. Great hospitality costs nothing. Sadly, it's something this winery seems unwilling to provide. We won't be back, and I'd encourage others to support the many nearby wineries that understand customer service and know how to make visitors feel welcome.

We've been to dozens of vineyards and winery's along VA wine trail and this is easily by far some of the finest wine we've had of all the varietals. Even types I don't normally care for were incredible here. Couldn't find one type we didn't like. They make it right there on premises. The owner was there making the wine and our tasting host was the son. We did three tastings of 19 wines plus a few extras and were more than impressed. If your looking for an attraction or things to do near Wilmington, I highly recommend this winery to visit!!

My wife heard about Coastal Vino via a FB group called Pelowinos and we figured we'd stop in for a drink. We are wine drinkers with fair to good knowledge about wine and were immediately impressed by the convivial and knowledgeable owner and master-of-ceremonies, David Coy. This is a wine shop/bar. When we arrived, there were friendly patrons at the few outside tables who pegged us for tourists (non-regulars) and made sure to point us to David inside. It was busy but we were able to get stools at the small bar. David asked us about our preferences and explained pricing and how one buys the bottle vs individual glasses to drink in-shop. Fellow patrons were very complimentary of the owner's knowledge and recommendations so we decided to let him choose a red for us. He chose an excellent Spanish old-vine garnacha. Perfect choice for us and we sat happily chatting with his friendly customers. The environment was part Cheers (but with wine) and part speak-easy. People were surprised that we stumbled upon this place and teased David about his store's countrywide reach. It was very friendly and welcoming considering many were regulars and local. Very fun and what a wine bar should be. Needless to say, we left with 3 bottles, two opened (which is allowed) and one recommendation that we decided to carry home. As a wine shop, it is well curated. You will not see the "plonk" that fills most other shops (and largely pays the bills). What you will find is a wine lover's oasis with quality selections from storied wine regions and some little known gems that David is happy to key you in on. As an aficionado of wine shops, I could easily tell I would like Coastal Vino and having a guy like David in your back pocket for recommendations is golden! I wish I was local because I would be there every week. If you are in the greater Myrtle Beach area, this is a great place to find fellow wine lovers and good bottles. We started with the fried chicken skin appetizer which are delicious if you've ever had them prepared fresh by a chef instead of previously frozen from a short order cook with little to no training, they were horrible if I had only one request it would be to remove these from the menu. After going back and forth we both decided to order the Thursday Night Special - a fried Katfish fillet, fried pop-corn shrimp, fries and plenty of grease with a side of pre-portioned coleslaw - I have no words for this mess I think the cook dumped everything straight from the fryer to the plate without letting the old grease drain back into the fryer. I may be a little harsh on the kitchen but they have issues and if any of them noticed we ate very little of anything plated here and passed on the slaw. Fortunately we were just passing through so we don't have to return here or blame it on "they were just having a bad day" I could of spent my dough on losing lottery tickets and would have been happier, the food here gets a do not recommend...
