Let's start with the positives: 1- the service. 5 stars!! Our server was just incredible. He was genuine, helpful, kind. Wonderful wonderful wonderful service. 2- location. Right off the interstate and by a gas station. Perfect for a quick stop from traveling. 3- the salsa tastes fresh. Very yummy. Now, onto the negatives which pulled me down into 3 stars. 1- the food is pretty bland. 2- tortillas are pretty rubbery. 3- white cheese dip is consistency of water. 4- the little amount of chicken you get in the fajitas is laughable. Listen, maybe this is the best food in town. I don't know, we were passing through on travel. But I must say, we wouldn't stop again, except to get some chips and salsa, a beer and say hi to our nice server. But to fill up on a delicious meal.... Ehhh... we'd be just about as lucky as stopping at the gas station next door and trying out their fried food and a bag of chips. Maybe you'll get luckier than us. God speed. read more

What a find! We were driving from FL to NY and read all the reviews. They weren't kidding. I had the Acapulco salad, my husband had the chicken quesadilla. The grill is so good--lovely, balanced char. The chips were lite and crispy with not a wisp of grease. Salsas were homemade. I loved the milder, smokey one. The spicy one needed a bit of salt. The churros...omg. Next level! Crispy, not too sweet, apples inside? Just soooo good. Our server was lovely too! It would be worth the drive to hit this place again. read more

First off, we were seated right away. The waitress helped us with chips and salsa then took our drink order. We ordered chimichangas and cheese dip. It came out so quickly. And it's AMAZING. Great hometown Mexican spot! If your tired of chain restaurants, chic-fil-a etc. ..check out Antonio's amazing family restaurant. There was a lot of space for large groups and it was el cheapo! Our waitress was so friendly and the service was fast. There was a good mix of locals and travelers eating here too. Its right at the 95 ramp by a gas station .. the motel there scared my man a little bit but he is just a big baby!! The salsa was excellent and they offer mild and spicy. Just wow! What a great place, wish it was close to where we live! Great atmosphere and great service. A family owned and staffed restaurant open since 2015 according to our hostess/server. The food was very good. Heads up though, the sweet tea is very sweet lol. Which I know people love but it may be too sweet for some. Personally I loved it. read more

Muy bueno! Julio took good care of us. I rarely give 5 stars, but every time I turned around, Julio was going above and beyond. Our 11-person party was seated by a sweet lady. Julio came out and got our drinks for us right away with chips and salsa (mild and a little spicy). I shared the Acapulco Salad with my niece. The shrimp was perfectly flavored and cooked. My mom ordered soup and I tried some. It was seasoned to perfection. I tried my husband's Mexican Pizza and it was good. We had Julio running back and forth for our random requests - extra plates, spoons, more soup broth, cilantro?! - but he brought everything with a smile and a "No problem!" My nephew never had fried ice cream before so he got some. It was just ice cream scooped into a fried shell, not what I expected. My husband ordered a coffee and before we left, Julio offered a cup to go because he knew we were about to hit the road back to Florida. Thank you fellow Yelpers for pointing us here! I'm originally from southern Californian, and you know we are so picky about our Mexican food, so I'm always on the lookout for a great place. While this is not Baja/San Diego style like I'm used to, it is very delicious and I was definitely in my happy place. We stopped in on our way from GA to NC and had an amazing lunch. Lots of tables for large groups, service was fast and super friendly. Food was hot and delicious, and traditional Mexican music was playing. I had a Chili relleno, crunchy beef taco and beans, husband had the dinner nachos (was like fajitas on the chips with queso ), daughter had soft carnitas tacos and son had a quesadilla. Everything was great! The chili relleno was not like what I was expecting (either they were out of them and did a make shift or their recipe is very different - it was the beef, cheese and peppers all chopped together, no egg batter, but was so good so I didn't care). They also had a bunch of Mexican candy at the register so we loaded up on our way out. It's right off the freeway and will forever be our lunch spot when heading to see family in GA! read more

On our way to the Myrtle beach we stopped by this Mexican restaurant Price: it's pricy for a Mexican food Food: ordered enchilada, beef burrito, and huevos rancheros. It was the one of the most un-authentic Mexican food I've put in my mouth since Mexican restaurants in Hawaii (I don't recommend Mexican food in await). Lack of spices and it was spiked with LOTs of salt. Refried beans were severely salty. Service: Our server was very nice and he did admit that the restaurant shifted their food to being more non traditional but I never saw him after he took the order. Took close to 30minutes to receive our food since the order. Servers never came back for anything else. Would not come back here even if the foods free. read more

Came here with a party of 11 on our way back from a Thanksgiving road trip. We were seated promptly and our drinks taken immediately. Julio took our orders and made suggestions as to what he recommended. We recieved our food and were satisfied with authentic Mexican food. I ordered the 3 al pastor tacos. They were muy delicioso!!!! They were especially yummy because they were served with sautéed onions and fresh salsa. The meat was perfect. I tried the chicken soup they had with chunks of avocado and julienne zucchini and it was so tasty. My husband had a combo plate with chile relleno and enchilada was just ok. Another member in our party had the Alcapulco Salad and thought it was yummy, too. Overall, the dinner was good. Julio did not neglect us in anyway and was actually glad to bring us whatever we needed. Great service. read more

Great local Mexican restaurant- family owned and operated. Although the atmosphere isn't much, the food is legit. Meals are served very quickly and piping hot! I went for lunch and ordered the chicken and shrimp fajitas, which were outstanding! Portion sizes were huge as well. Stopped by on a road trip and tried this place out in lieu of a chain: so glad I did! Owner and his family are all super nice and service was efficient and very polite. Let me start by saying, this wasn't our first choice of places to eat, but I've eaten at another El Zarape and loved it. So it was probably just as good. Parking lot was crowded, good sign. Walk in and are greeted by someone who isn't thrilled to be at work. Strike 1. Sit down, she brings us our tea, chips and salsa come out immediately. Then we wait. And wait. And wait. 10 min goes by before they take our order. Strike 2 Fajitas for him. Steak burrito for me. Again, waitress who didnt seem to want to be there. Food = Horrible. Ok, I love Mexican food. But the Steak was like shoe leather. White cheese from the can. His fajitas were good, but he bailed and ordered the chicken, just to be safe. Strike 3. Now I just want to go home. I'm giving this 2 stars because of the fajitas and the sweet girl who brought the food. Btw....this is NOT anything like the El Zarape on Emerald Isle. read more

If the exterior doesn't make you pause, then you will be OK with the thrift shop interior. Everyone was very nice.. Got both orders wrong, but corrected them. Food was not bad, and inexpensive, but steak was sparse and a little crisp in spots. Salsa was watery and not good. Hot salsa much better, but the bar was low. Not very good sanitation score. This is a great pit stop when traveling along I-95, located right off the highway and near a BP gas station. We stopped on a Thursday for lunch right at noon on our way home from Myrtle Beach. The parking lot was packed but when we walked in we were seated right away, given chips and salsa (2 kinds), and asked for our drink order. They have a separate lunch menu which provides a good portion of food for a reasonable price. Our bill was around $12 for two people and we both left satisfied. The food was some of the best Mexican I've ever had! I had the lunch fajitas with chicken and it had an amazing flavor. The staff are all very friendly and service is excellent.
