Our (My) Golden Corral Restaurant Buffet review (party of five)…read more Golden Corral offers a diverse selection of buffet items, and our recent visit did not disappoint. We sampled the chicken, pizza, taco meat, salad, deviled eggs And of course Ice-cream, cake, pies, pudding The fried chicken was Well-seasoned and tender, the chicken was very good making it a standout among the buffet options, The pizza was decent, with a nice flavor It wasn't gourmet, but it satisfied our pizza cravings. Pepperoni helps!!! I liked the deviled eggs they were fresh, the taco meat was another hit. The meat was well-cooked and seasoned, and the options for fresh toppings added a nice touch. I put some ON my pizza hey I'm not a purist and Golden Corral is not catering to purists anyhow! This Golden corral will be closing for a refresh, and there was some spackle on the walls in preparation of new paint but nothing that made our dining experience any less enjoyable it would've been four stars even if the walls were painted perfect. it's a buffet. It's golden corral. It really never will be a five star experience. We'll definitely be returning for another round of comfort food favorites when traveling.

But that is the same of every place I would say. One thing that I did not like was the fact that they only had vinegar bottles only near the salad buffet. I wish they had them on the tables or at stations around the restaurant like other establishments. The service was good, and the server did check on us often, and remove soiled plates as needed. The décor is still dated, and could be modernized. 2026-04 #580

I've stopped at Smithfield's once before years ago and didn't particularly like the chopped…read moresandwich, apparently because of the use of white slaw. I have to admit being a native NC resident from Lexington, so I have a stubborn bias. I didn't try very hard ever to like Eastern NC BBQ and have discovered it is the fault solely of the white slaw! Sunday the 17th I stopped in Lumberton and bought a chopped sandwich with the slaw on the side, order number 110 at 12:21. The slaw on it's own merit was tasty. I don't have a weird bias against white slaw, but it belongs with seafood only! such as paired with a platter of fried shrimp and oysters, maybe flounder too! So I still had a nice hot sandwich of BBQ pork chopped with no slaw, (red slaw is acceptable and preferred as a matter of fact) riding down the highway on the way home. Let me tell you I was impressed, pleased, happy, and converted! I am now a believer in Eastern NC BBQ. Now, I still prefer Lexington, (or sometimes called Western NC style) but I can say as long as that white slaw is left off then I am good to go and up for a sandwich of Eastern style. It had the slightly vinegar taste I expected, some decent smoke flavor, and a nice bit of peppery taste. My only complaint is the price was pretty steep at almost $7 with tax for a BBQ sandwich. I guess they're still close to $6 in my area, so inflation is what we're living with. But now I'm converted. Thanks Smithfield.

Very large menu but we couldn't resist the seafood! Shrimp was perfect calabash style, oysters and fish cooked just right. Servings were very big and the prices were very fair! They have a large parking lot with numbered spots, so you don't forget where you parked. The decor is casual and unassuming. It is a large place, though. It can seat 220 guests and has both booths and tables. I dined here for brunch, but you order from the all-day menu. I read to go early to avoid a wait. Service was friendly, but the goal seemed to be to turn the tables quickly, so many customers left with to-go boxes. Well, I was on the road, so I couldn't go, so they had to wait for me to finish. I ordered the flounder with a baked potato, and it came with hush puppies. The food was really good, and I would have ordered dessert too, but I wasn't asked or even finished with my meal when the bill was dropped off. I liked my food, and the prices were reasonable. I don't like feeling rushed, though and like to enjoy my meal. Payment is taken at the front register. I paid cash because I wasn't sure whether they took credit cards, since that register was closed. By the time I got through the line and got change for the tip, people were already seated at my table. So I had to find my waitress to leave my tip. I might return again when it is less busy.

My husband is a wing connoisseur, and he ordered the 10-piece naked wings in buffalo sauce, and I decided to try the frogs leg. Both were excellent appetizers, and we ordered the Philly cheesesteak with sweet potato fries, and a shrimp quesadilla. Hubby loved his cheesesteak, and I can honestly say that the shrimp quesadilla was the best one I've ever had. We noticed lots of families eating and the waiter we had was terrific. We would definitely stop again if in the area. Only thing missing is Yuengling beer on tap - only got one in a bottle.

I checked Yelp to…read moresee what was coming up in the area, and Arnold's popped up, so we decided to give it a try. When we pulled into the parking lot, it was packed, which we took as a good sign. Inside, the restaurant was very busy. The hostess seated us and mentioned they were offering a pizza bar for lunch that day. She took our drink order and then came back to take our food order. My wife ordered the steak and cheese with curly fries, and I had the cowboy burger with onion rings. My wife said the steak and cheese was good, though the curly fries lacked seasoning. My burger was a little different than expected -- it comes on grilled Texas toast -- but it was still good, just a bit heavy on the bread. The onion rings, however, were very good. We asked our waitress about the pizza, and she explained that there used to be a pizza place across the street that was always busy. The owner of Arnold's also owned that pizza place, and after it closed and became a gas station, they decided to bring the pizza to Arnold's. She said they just started serving pizza a few weeks ago and have been very busy since adding it. One odd thing worth mentioning was the restroom. It was freezing cold, almost uncomfortable, and when you go to wash your hands there's a sign warning about extremely hot water, but no hot water came out at all. My wife said the women's restroom was the same way. On our way out, we walked past the pizza bar. The pizza looked excellent -- very thin crust, just the way we like it -- and they also had spaghetti available. When we're back in the area again, we'll definitely stop in to try the pizza.

When we pulled in, we quickly found out that this is not your typical restaurant establishment. It is located in what seems to used to be a shed, which stirred the thought in my mind that we shouldn't be eating here. But, my dad was committed and determined to try it out, and I followed along. When I walked in, I felt that I was in the 80s (hence the lone TV in the corner playing movies via VHS tapes). You can sit wherever you would like, and are given a short menu. We both got sweet teas, which I thought had a weak flavor, but my dad liked. Our server was the waitress, food runner, cashier, hostess, and everything in between. Despite this, she did a pretty great job at keeping everyone satisfied. I ordered the flounder plate, while my dad ordered the dark meat chicken plate. All plates come with fries, coleslaw, hush puppies, and a Kings Hawaiian roll. My flounder was mostly good, although one piece had a metallic taste. I requested 1 flounder, but they gave me three! How generous. My dads chicken was better than my flounder. The hush puppies are ok in my opinion (good, but not the best), I don't like coleslaw so I didn't try any, and the fries are very greasy but are good. The customers are either travelers off of the highway or interstate or are country locals. There were good people, laughs, and vibes going on at the country corral. I do think that the food could improve a bit, but because of the value for the amount of food you get, the people, the customer service, and the experience, Roys gets a 4/5 instead of a 3/5.
