Hot dog with chili, mustard, and slaw
John C.

Stopped in Lumberton at Haleigh's Diner while I was trying hot dogs around Eastern NC. I had just made a stop in Whiteville so I walked the shopping center a bit before heading into Haleigh's. They close up at 3:00 so y'all be sure to get in there for lunch. They had a great looking menu, but I was there for a hot dog and that's what I ordered. It didn't take long for it to come out of the kitchen alongside a side salad. Now, that side salad was the cutest, silliest looking thing. Diced iceberg, strip of tomatoes, strip of cheese. That'll teach me to try to be healthy. The dog was loaded with toppings including a creamy coleslaw. Bun fell apart a bit with everything on top but we made it through. If you're passing through Lumberton, give Haleigh's Diner a shot!

Fantastic food, service, and owner I stopped by Lumberton to get a glazed croissant from Cakes and Pastries. To my disappointment, they were closed until New Years. Oh no! When I stumbled upon the perfect 5 stars hovering over this place, I knew I just had to check it out. I am so glad that I did. You walk in and are greeted by an open kitchen, red and black decor, and a wall pasted with numerous family memorabilia. Haleigh, as it turns out, is the owner Mike's granddaughter. If you see Mike, he'll treat you like an old friend. Man, the life he has lived! I ordered the BLT with some tater tots. Sorry folks, healthy options are scarce to find here! This is, after all, a diner. The BLT came out in about 8 minutes, and it was a beauty. Cooked on Texas toast with clearly fresh ingredients, the BLT was sensational. The tots, alongside the house sauce, were an inspired addition to the BLT meal. The owner swears that everything is FRESH and HOMEMADE. These are novel concepts for many diners nowadays. This will become a regular stop on I-95. The exit is 22 in N.C. Come to Haleigh's Diner for some truly next-level food and service at a LOCAL and FAMILY-RUN business.

My wife and I were driving home from Myrtle Beach and looking for a place to eat. I checked Yelp to…read moresee what was coming up in the area, and Arnold's popped up, so we decided to give it a try. When we pulled into the parking lot, it was packed, which we took as a good sign. Inside, the restaurant was very busy. The hostess seated us and mentioned they were offering a pizza bar for lunch that day. She took our drink order and then came back to take our food order. My wife ordered the steak and cheese with curly fries, and I had the cowboy burger with onion rings. My wife said the steak and cheese was good, though the curly fries lacked seasoning. My burger was a little different than expected -- it comes on grilled Texas toast -- but it was still good, just a bit heavy on the bread. The onion rings, however, were very good. We asked our waitress about the pizza, and she explained that there used to be a pizza place across the street that was always busy. The owner of Arnold's also owned that pizza place, and after it closed and became a gas station, they decided to bring the pizza to Arnold's. She said they just started serving pizza a few weeks ago and have been very busy since adding it. One odd thing worth mentioning was the restroom. It was freezing cold, almost uncomfortable, and when you go to wash your hands there's a sign warning about extremely hot water, but no hot water came out at all. My wife said the women's restroom was the same way. On our way out, we walked past the pizza bar. The pizza looked excellent -- very thin crust, just the way we like it -- and they also had spaghetti available. When we're back in the area again, we'll definitely stop in to try the pizza.

Not being from the area we basically flipped a coin while choosing a restaurant for dinner, there's…read morenothing like ordering and eating the daily special while listening to some head banging tunes from Nirvana and Metallica at a volume that drowns out the staff - but we got through it which is more than I can say for the meal. Our server Annie was outstanding, very friendly and attentive if I were just reviewing the service this would be a five star review the only thing she miss was she charged me a credit card fee even though I paid cash, unfortunately the kitchen staff isn't doing this restaurant any favors the frozen from a box preparations give even old greasy bar food a good name. We started with the fried chicken skin appetizer which are delicious if you've ever had them prepared fresh by a chef instead of previously frozen from a short order cook with little to no training, they were horrible if I had only one request it would be to remove these from the menu. After going back and forth we both decided to order the Thursday Night Special - a fried Katfish fillet, fried pop-corn shrimp, fries and plenty of grease with a side of pre-portioned coleslaw - I have no words for this mess I think the cook dumped everything straight from the fryer to the plate without letting the old grease drain back into the fryer. I may be a little harsh on the kitchen but they have issues and if any of them noticed we ate very little of anything plated here and passed on the slaw. Fortunately we were just passing through so we don't have to return here or blame it on "they were just having a bad day" I could of spent my dough on losing lottery tickets and would have been happier, the food here gets a do not recommend...

They have a large parking lot with numbered spots, so you don't forget where you parked. The decor is casual and unassuming. It is a large place, though. It can seat 220 guests and has both booths and tables. I dined here for brunch, but you order from the all-day menu. I read to go early to avoid a wait. Service was friendly, but the goal seemed to be to turn the tables quickly, so many customers left with to-go boxes. Well, I was on the road, so I couldn't go, so they had to wait for me to finish. I ordered the flounder with a baked potato, and it came with hush puppies. The food was really good, and I would have ordered dessert too, but I wasn't asked or even finished with my meal when the bill was dropped off. I liked my food, and the prices were reasonable. I don't like feeling rushed, though and like to enjoy my meal. Payment is taken at the front register. I paid cash because I wasn't sure whether they took credit cards, since that register was closed. By the time I got through the line and got change for the tip, people were already seated at my table. So I had to find my waitress to leave my tip. I might return again when it is less busy.

I am reluctant to write this and hate to have to but if someone can use my honest experience to…read moregrow from , I am here for it . I read four 5 star reviews from Mr. Cee's, one of them from a fellow Yelp Elite. Some answers please... As a POC, you know, I like to support my people. That said, I am also an extremely honest reviewer. I will give any place the benefit of the doubt. I'll return to a spot that has served food that may not be a representation of their best efforts. Like if the food were cold or they were shortstaffed and it had to be reheated and the texture changed but flavor and product are not to be compromised. The young lady at the counter was pleasant so was the couple who own restaurant. I don't know if it could be a locale discrepancy, but I have never in my life had a beer, battered pork chop, especially without forewarning besides that it lacked flavor except for salt and grease. I had baked beans and cabbage as my sides. The baked beans were fine. The cabbage was bland and soggy. You know we can do better. I ordered a sweet tea, got sugar water with a tint of brown. Again, maybe it's a locality preference. I want to go back in time and give them a second chance at what I understand they are popular for and try their barbecue just to give them a second chance. I told them I would be back...I won't unless I go with Gordon Ramsay and the Kitchen Nightmares crew. The inside of the place is closed for dining but you wouldn't be missing a thing. Can someone tell me; are beer battered pork chops the norm in Lumberton??
