I've been coming to Donut Factory for over 20 years, and it used to be one of my favorite neighborhood spots. Unfortunately, the overall experience has really declined over time. What used to feel like a welcoming, reliable place for fresh donuts and friendly service now feels inconsistent and disappointing. The quality of the donuts doesn't seem as good as it once was. They often taste less fresh, and the texture and flavor just aren't what I remember from years past. I was waiting on my wife and MIL, so I went exploring a bit. I happened to catch this place off Jackson Street. A unassuming place with a decent parking lot. I took a few pics and then was greeted by the owner, who said, "Sorry, we don't allow pictures." Really!?! Ok. I respect that. The selection was small, as I assume because it was noon-ish. Simple old school donut Flavors like glazed raised, chocolate raised, cake donuts, apple Fritters, chocolate & maple bars, jelly donuts, etc. Though, they did have some oversized donuts. Mmmm donuts! I don't get them often but when the craving hits it's an Apple fritter and glazed donut. A good glazed (imo) is a good indicator of a good spot! Sadly, it's hard to find a good old-school donut place...no need to impress me with a gourmet one thank you very much! Donut Factory has a proper yeast donut: light, fluffy, not oily and has a good flavor. Their apple fritter is pretty good with plenty of fried-crunchy crevices with a soft interior with bites of apple and not overly glazed. Pricing in-line with other like doughnut shops and will return for their maple-glazed and another fritter! I'm thinking they changed owners or definitely have improved as I visited about 9 years ago and was not a fan! Came to this donut spot this Sunday morning, not too busy but all the chocolate donuts were gone that's okay. I'm giving this place 2 stars because I politely asked if they had vietnamese iced coffee and the worker said yes but nowhere on the menu was there vietnamese iced coffee so I asked again and she looked back at me and said "ok" with an attitude. I got two maple bar donuts and they were just okay to be honest. Anyways, I got my coffee in a boba cup which was weird, and turns out it was just regular iced coffee not vietnamese. Nice. We came here on a weekend morning and there were a lot of people in line, about 10 people. The line moved really quickly and I think it was pretty efficient. I think those waiting for their orders were mainly those who ordered breakfast sandwiches. We ordered a maple donut, a glazed donut, and some baby donut holes. The donuts were good but there was nothing special about them. However, they definitely did hit our donut craving. We would definitely visit again when we go to the water store next door (which is both owned by the same sweet family). read more

Hello Donut Factory, how are we only now trying donuts and pastries from here?!? We loved all of the raised donuts, bar donuts, and cinnamon rolls. The dough was fluffy and fresh without being too sweet as the glazes took care of that. I also ordered old fashion and cake donuts, but these were definitely on the sweeter side. Prices were affordable, presentation was nice and packaged well, and they offered a good variety of donuts, pastries, muffins, and breakfast sandwiches. The croissants were huge and good, but the bottom of one was a little doughy still, so I'd say stick with the donuts or order a breakfast sandwich where the croissant could be toasted more. Also, go early or order delivery early as everything was fresher that time versus the time we got them later in the day, but I guess that's kind of a given. read more

They can get busy Sunday mornings because there's usually one lady at the front helping and I think there's one more in the back. They are clean, quiet, and have tables you can sit at while waiting for your sammies. We go here for the ham & cheese croissant sandwiches. The croissants are buttery, flaky and delicious. I like to ask for jalapeño's in them too but I tend to forget! Anyway, I drive out to this one because their donuts and croissant sandwiches have never failed us. I was first introduced to Donut Factory's donuts while working as a security guard at 3 Crosses Church. During the years I worked at the church, those big pink boxss could always be found, and the donuts tasted fresh all day. They are the best donuts I have ever had in the Bay Area. I believe they are fresher, and the flavor in each donut brings a little something more than the average shops. I like that Donut Factory has a bathroom you can use, and they accept charge cards for a small 00.60 fee. Friendly service. They said the best time to go is 0700. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Lately, I've been ordering through DoorDash. My rec is to get breakfast anything with a croissant and get the buttermilk donut (next level). Croissants have to be baked on site for them to be that good. Everything tastes fresh here. You can't make a wrong choice here, everything is good. We got a good amount of donuts (2 chocolate long johns, an old fashioned plain, an old fashioned chocolate dipped, donut holes, a blueberry donut, a glazed donut and a bagel with cheese and bacon). Over all the chocolate long john was light and fluffy, as were the donut holes. The blueberry one was like a blueberry cream cheese like taste. I did not taste any of the other ones. Overall a pretty solid donut experience. I am a big fan of donuts and critique them harshly. I was craving a donut on the way to work and I've never stopped by even though this place is right on the way. I decided to give it a try since the Yelp reviews were solid. Definitely got a mom and pop kind of feel to this place and they have a pretty good selection of donuts, though they are your normal run of the mill, "regular" flavors like chocolate, glazed, old fashioned, apple fritters, etc. Old school donuts, none of these exotic fancy flavors. Price is decent as well, $1 for a regular donut, $10/dozen. The size of the donuts are pretty good, definitely a good value. I got a chocolate bar ($1.60 and it was really big!) but the thing that I didn't like about it was that it was super greasy/oily. I made it 3/4 of the way through it before I decided that I couldn't take it anymore and just tossed the rest... and I never leave a donut unfinished! Looking at the greasy napkin that I used to wipe my fingers made me think that I made the right decision to toss the rest of that donut instead of having it go into my stomach. Maybe it was a bad batch since the other reviews are good, but I'll take a pass on this place if I ever am wanting a donut. read more

I only took pics of 4/6 donuts I bought, oops! This place makes such good donuts, mine were hot and fluffy right out of the oven at 12pm. My favorite donut of all time will always be the regular glazed donut. It's so simple and delicious, and this place makes them great! They're never old and stale, and they are so soft in the middle. The donuts with filling (jelly,custard) are always stuffed with a ton of filling so you get a huge gooey bite with each bite. Ive lived in Hayward for years and I cant believe I never came here. It being Father's day morning I wanted to get some coffee and donuts. Found this spot on Yelp and gave it a try! 2 large coffees, 1 large latte, and a dozen donuts for around $20 is not bad. Donuts are pretty big and not super sweet. They aren't as dense and not super airy. Just perfect. However I would say add a little more frosting/glaze. The lady working here was super sweet as I asked if there was anymore sprinkle donuts and there wasn't but she was willing to go get me some. I told her it was ok but that really shows great service.
