    Sausage and cheese kolaches

The food was amazing! Great variety of donuts. The best part of all was that they had KOLACHES!! Coming from a Texas native, I was very very impressed with the kolaches. I've been missing these since moving to Colorado, and finally felt like back home. The service was quick, and the lady behind the counter was sweet. I highly recommend!!

I've given LOTS of business the last two years; in return, I have received inconsistent prices & inconsistent service.

I am all for supporting local businesses, and we have been doing so with Donuts Factory on most Saturday mornings for nearly two years since we moved into the neighborhood in 2021. I always come with my 6yr-old son as a "Donuts with Dad" tradition/bonding experience. It's also a teachable moment where we get to practice manners. So far in 2023, we have come 17 times and spent $163.40. We have been more than loyal & kind enough with our support. I dare say the kindness has not been reciprocated. Every time you walk into the store, a loud chime sounds so that the staff know someone has entered. Many times there is no one behind the counter when we enter...despite the chime. When the lady (typically) comes to the counter from the back, my 6yr-old says good morning to her. Sometimes she appears to be in a good mood & says good morning back to him; other times she says nothing at all & just stares at him. When she doesn't say good morning back to him, he asks me why. I offer that maybe she didn't hear him, even though we're the only ones there & it's a quiet store. Additionally, whenever I make a suggestion or question the pricing of my donuts, I get an ugly, curt response or yelled/snapped at by her or the man who typically is in the back cooking donuts, etc. For example, my wife loves plain, unglazed cake donuts. They don't make them here. When I asked/suggested that they make them (so they can make more money off of me), they've gotten irritated & snapped at me. Even though I get the same six donuts nearly every time (blue-covered donut with sprinkles, blueberry or red velvet cake donut, glazed twist donut, glazed cake donut, two old-fashioned donuts), the price they charge me varies. See the attached photo of receipts from my last two visits in May. I purchased the same exact donuts. On one visit, she charged me $9.14; on the next visit, she charged $10.69. When I asked her politely to help me understand what she charged, she got mad & slapped the receipt on the box of donuts one time and either she or he yelled at me the other times. My kiddo always thanks her for the donuts; sometimes she thanks him back, and other time she says nothing. It's challenging teaching my son proper manners when his efforts are often unreciprocated. I suppose in the end it's my fault for continuing to return to this donut shop with my business with the way my son & I are both treated with little kindness or appreciation. The donuts are yummy enough, but that's not enough to keep us coming back anymore. I tried to support a local business that was conveniently close to where we live. But, I'd rather travel further to Johnstown or Loveland for some good donuts and be consistently treated with respect, kindness & gratitude than continue to give my hard-earned money to Donuts Factory like I have the last two years and not be respected or appreciated.

Had to remember to take a photo before I finished it lol

We just moved to Greeley and I saw the reviews were glowing for here. Sadly, they don't do sandwiches anymore. A good tip for this place would be to have an up to date menu. The donuts were freaking AMAZING! Holy crap! Packed with flavor, soft and gooey. Just... Omg good! The sausage roll (which I'm pretty sure was a Nathan's Hotdog) was really good. The bun was soft and buttery. Really good! I'd definitely get from here again. Oh, if you're going to pay card you have to spend at least $5. Just a heads up

My parents grew up playing with mercury and they turned out ok. But don't take this joke as to infer that I am saying this food is poison because it is not - i am just hilarious, that's all) I love krautburgers and I miss 'em. This german cabbage pocket is amazing. Hamburger, cabbage, cheese and mustard (and one of them from Schwartz i got had jalapeños). Obviously the dough is important too but I couldn't tell you anything about dough except that if it tastes good - good job. Good Job Schwartz. I really was pleasantly surprised with their recipe. I will say that my grandma's are better but she is no longer with us. My Grandpa was born in Evans and my Grandma lived on a farm that was right were the Greeley mall ended up. They lost the farm in the great depression and then she later worked at that mall until she retired with pennies. That seems like an even greater depression. Anyway, I wonder if everone in that area ate krautburgers. I think the fast food chain Runza confused a lot of people because they also made krautburgers - and most people just saw the burger word and were upset for what looks like an inside out burger without sourkraut in it. Anyways, give Schwartz a try and tell them My Grandma probably wanted you to try them. And if you are in the business of doing what I say, subscribe to me on everything (roboticwilly) and go back and "like" everything I have ever done because what the heck else are you going to do? Thank You.

Schwartz's was a homecoming for me on a recent trip to Greeley, and I was delighted to see that…read morethey had some old-school Volga German favorites for even a vegetarian like me. Krautburgers (also known as runza or cabbage pockets, as my family calls them), is a yeast bun filled with peppery cabbage, beef, and onions. They are a specialty of the Volga German people (ethnic Germans from Southern Russia that immigrated en masse to the Great Plains in the early 1900's), and are particularly popular in eastern Colorado. I grew up eating them made by my Volga German grandmother, but have not had one in years due to my vegetarianism and moving away from the area. To my knowledge, Schwartz's is one of the few places left in the region that still makes them, so my family and I had to stop in while in Greeley. Located in a simple strip mall, Schwartz's humble location belies the rich and, personally nostalgic, experience that it offers. The menu features classic cabbage pockets, along with more modern, Americanized options like jalapeño and broccoli-cheddar (they even serve Colorado green chile on the side). Shockingly, Schwartz's does offer a vegetarian option, but to my chagrin, they must be ordered in advance, so I wasn't able to sample it. I will certainly prepare better next time. Instead, I tried the cheese pockets, which were essentially the classic dough filled with American cheese and deep-fried. It was fun- not nearly as good as a classic cabbage pocket, but it sufficed, especially after I paired it with a side of their hot sauerkraut to mimic that old-world flavor. In addition, I was pleased to see that Schwartz's offers more Volga German classics even beyond cabbage pockets. On the side, we ordered classic spaetzle (not something I grew up with, but a nice German touch) and the classic Russian cucumber and onion salad in sour cream dressing with dill, just like grandma made. The desserts were out of this world, as well. They had my favorite grebble- a fried cinnamon and sugar donut, and the classic cherry kugan, or coffee cake, an integral part of every Volga German funeral or wedding I have ever been to. My companions who were able to sample the classic cabbage pockets were very pleased, and particularly noted how perfect the dough was, just like we all remembered. Schwartz's is a must for anyone looking to learn more about an obscure regional Colorado culture, and I commend them for keeping these classic recipes alive on the Eastern plains.

That one was a chain, this is clearly a local family operation made fresh with from scratch recipes. The frosting dips were amazing as, though a sweet frosting were clearly made with genuine fruit. They hade a display case on the counter with one each of many flavors. As we chose the flavors we wanted, they seeped back and picked up freshly made donuts and dipped each into a container of the flavor requested . They then placed them into a box, no preset number required and why I never had a traditional Asian flavor at the place on my trip. We took them out into the food hall combined seating to sample them. We could not wait. The sad part about doing that is that set into the small box, they had stuck together in a sticky pile. Persisting them dry a little before packaging does have some benefits after all. Im not sure how to effectively do this though as the place is tiny and the line constant. Maybe a small reserve of not popular flavors would be worthwhile for busy Saturday mornings . It a close call between perfection and almost. Same with my stars, 4.5 would be perfect. We drove out that way for specialty local business for hiking gear repair and never knew how close this place is. We use another business nearby so we can stop here again later this winter. The flavors we got were ube( sweet potato) and surprising bland as I love sweet potato " anything"," strawberry, passion fruit and vanilla. My husband loves vanilla anything and felt it was a tie for me of strawberry and passion fruit. Park in the mall parking where you see the sign for The District and go in that door next to Otis Arts and Crafts and walk across the communal seating to the door for Nok's. The friendliness can't be beat!
