On my way to work,…read moreI was forced to find a mechanic due to engine stutters/misfires and a blinking engine light. I am not from the area so I googled car repair shops, and ER Autocare was at the top of the list with fantastic ratings. Upon arriving at their Plain City location (around 8:45 am) I was received by Chris who said that they would run their diagnostic test and do their best to find the source of the problem. As you would expect, I was relieved when he returned later and told me that only one issue came up: one of the oxygen sensors. The price they charged me seemed expensive but I agreed to it since they were fully repairing it and I was ready to be on my way. Instead of returning with good news an hour later, Chris came out and informed me that when they were running tests (after replacing the initial oxygen sensor), the other oxygen sensor began reading bad and they needed to replace it. I was very frustrated and already felt slightly manipulated but after asking several questions I eventually agreed to it. That was a huge mistake. An hour later Chris returned again with more bad news: once they replaced the second oxygen sensor, the diagnostic test signaled that the fuel injector was needed to be replaced and the car would not run properly without the repairs. The grand total for this piece was a $800. I couldn't believe it and I was NOT about to agree to that repair without outside advice, so I called my dad. He has mechanical experience and once I explained to him what was going on he actually talked with Chris and asked several questions to make sure we were getting the best price possible. Eventually we decided to let them replace it and they worked on the car for another three hours. Later on at 5:15 pm, Chris came out and told me that they were confident the car was fixed and running smoothly, even though it had apparently stalled during one of the test drives. I took his word since I was in a rush to get to a commitment at 6 and paid the total of $1400. As I drove away, my heart sank. After spending all my savings and sitting at the mechanic shop for eight hours, my car was running worse than it had been that morning before taking it to the shop. I made it home and the next day I called ER Autocare because there was no way I was going to let this slide. All Chris said was that I needed to bring the car in so they could continue to work on it and try to figure out what the issue was, which I was NOT about to do. A friend had recommended Streamline Mechanic so I called them and took my car there the next morning, hoping that they could resolve the problem easily since it had been so difficult for ER to figure out. Streamline went above and beyond my expectations as they found the issue and fixed it in seven hours for a third of the price, and I haven't had any problems since. In summary, I will not be returning to ER autocare and will never recommend it to anyone. Do not take your car there if you want to save your precious time and money.

He then became rude and frustrated causing me to become upset and frustrated. I'm sorry, but not sorry if you don't know where your service requests go. Either get it straightened out or don't offer auto care. There was no need for me or any other customer to get treated that way, especially when we did as the website stated. We are actually grateful it went that way though; if it was going to be a bad experience, I'd much rather have bad attitude than bad service/repair.

They took zero accountability for their mistake and I ended up footing the $200+ bill for a new battery. At first, they tried to have my insurance pay for it (original damage had nothing to do with the battery), then said it must have just been an old battery. They completely ignored the fact that their own employee left the lights on causing it to die in the first place. I was reluctant to write this because I was optimistic that they would take responsibility for their mistake and make it right. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Take your business elsewhere.

They repaired or replaced my passenger fender, front bumper, headlight, and mirror, as well as repainted everything seamlessly. Communication was excellent, with updates every couple of days to keep me informed--a level of service I truly appreciated as someone who is Type A and values organization and transparency. But with an aging car that is starting to get leaks and other wear and tear, I knew it was high time to finally get an inspection. Fortunately, Yelp recommended Tom & Jerry's, and after taking it in and getting some substantial service done, I couldn't be happier with my experience. One of the great things about T&J's is that they text you a link to your inspection report, which lists urgent, not-so-urgent, and recommended items to address...and pictures of all of the problem areas. I was actually quite relieved that my car's main leak was from cracked transmission lines and not an actual failing transmission. Even if I didn't have some basic mechanical knowledge, it would have been obvious from the pictures that the lines needed to be replaced. Likewise, images of battery life, ride quality, and other factors all helped me opt to fix the more urgent service items. When talking to the technician over the phone, he never tried to sell me on the less urgent items (such as a loose sway bar), and the prices quoted were very reasonable. Ultimately, I spent $1200 on four tires, a new battery, a replaced passenger mirror (labor only -- I'd brought in the part), an oil change, the inspection itself, and the replacement transmission lines. It would be an exaggeration to say my car feels new, but there's something to be said for the peace of mind that it's been thoroughly inspected, and the key issues have been addressed. Given that I was dreading having to potentially shop for a new car, I'm especially glad for T&J's service. One minor negative that is nonetheless worth mentioning is that they don't have much of a waiting area, and there aren't any decent places to sit for awhile nearby (the Starbucks, five blocks away, is drive-thru only!). After wandering around the area for awhile, I wound up just getting a Lyft home. Not a big deal at all, but just be prepared to drop off your car and have a pick-up option ready.

At 110K miles I've had one every 5K miles.I've paid an average of $40-$60 over its lifetime but.. never $140. There was no quote online or in person I was ever given, I was in no way expecting $140. I told them this at the counter, and they said they quoted other shops around and they're all there. Ok.. uh no. Regardless I'll never be back. No communication, drop off 8am, vehicle was ready at 4:30(not a problem necessarily, but an opportunity for sure).
