The second one wanted me to provide a detailed list of items to move - instead of coming to see us and providing a quote. And the third one - Top Notch (Marc the owner) - contacted us quickly and setup a day/time to come and talk to us, and assess clearly what needed doing. Marc showed up and I liked his honest approach immediately. He was very upfront, took notice of special items, asked many questions and told us, with great sincerity, how great his team was. I knew from that meeting that I would go with Marc. Moving day came - and - due to pretty severe illness 1 week prior to our move - we were behind on our packing. Marc and his team were wonderful and got us moved regardless. His team was fabulous: friendly, happy, fast, efficient, and careful. We really enjoyed dealing with them. I had a number of precious pieces of furniture that they were very aware of and very careful with. (Note: I had gotten appraisals and purchased insurance via Top Notch for these items and this is an important step, as the standard move insurance is by the pound and will not come close to covering actual replacement costs for anything of any value.) It was all moved without incident. I enjoyed listening/watching them work. They worked/communicated as a team, and moved with quiet efficiency. This company took advantage of relatives (seniors). The morning of the move they called to say…read morethat there was a now a 2 hour travel time (they knew where they were moving 3 weeks prior), as well as it was a Stat Holiday (which it was Federal only, not Ontario). So the rate went from $149.00/per hr for 3 men to $ 223.50 per hour plus 2 additional hours. Of course calling the morning of the move, my relatives had NO choice but to move. At the end of the move they also added $ 160.00 fuel surcharge on top of all the additional charges. Totally outrageous to do to Seniors on the day that they had to move. Unfortunately we didn't realize how much they were ripped off by these movers until it was done. ...and of course they refuse to talk to me regarding this.

One guy showed up hung over, went around the side of our front porch and proceeded to pull his "junk" out and pee right there while the other guy just laughed. I told them to stop, and they started to try and get violent with me ( I am a 65 year old man ) threatening to "beat my ass" if I didn't shut my mouth and "stay out of their way" I stopped for fear they would hurt me. They started to load my truck by just literally throwing boxes on the back of the truck. I heard glass breaking, and one of the guys told me its supposed to sound like that when boxes hit the floor and not to worry about it, all in a raised, threatening voice and proceeded to stand there and stare at me, intimidating me. They took a break, that lasted almost 2 hours, that they told me they'd have to charge me for, and came back smelling like Marijuana and a bunch white stuff on one of their noses that I could only assume was cocaine. I had enough and called the police. As soon as they saw the police car pulling up, they both dropped what they were carrying and ran, leaving my valuables in shambles and my home a mess. The owner then called and told me I owed them 1800.00 for the work and for hassling his "workers". I told him I would call the police, and he hung up immediately. What showed up on moving day was PT Movers in an old truck with 2 young men in street clothes - heavy coats & dirty work boots. No professional uniforms or booties were worn as promised. The young men were unprofessional, not careful with my furniture and actually broke an expensive, vintage chair right in front of me. They forced a metal bed frame to fold where it was not meant to because the one man kept saying he had to "get home to his son" amongst other, personal talk between them the entire time. He rushed everything and acted as if he didn't want to be there the entire day. My items moved to a storage unit & I met the movers at the storage facility as they were finishing unloading. We had a miscommunication about payment & I had to drive 15 mins. to get a money order from a Walmart at night. When I returned to the locker alone, I started to notice damages, scratches, dents in my furniture (which was also never wrapped as I had been promised). I also found broken items that were shoved into areas between boxes, so I wouldn`t notice them. They ignored boxes clearly stickered & marked as "Fragile" and "this end up" as they were pushed under heavier boxes & left on their sides. I have over 50 photos of damages & broken items. The damage is in the thousands and I can`t replace many of the items as they were Mid Century pieces. They were the worst "movers" I have ever had with no respect for my items. They didn't wrap or pack anything and got my carpet filthy. I have moved 15+ times and these were the worst movers ever! Be forewarned.
