I checked Yelp for a Moving company in Syracuse and ran across First Class Moving and Removal, as we not only needed her belongings moved to a storage unit, but needed all the junk-type stuff taken to the dump. I saw a picture of Shaun and his crew next to a meticulously blanket-covered and wrapped piece of furniture and immediately felt this was a company that truly CARED about people's things and was willing to demonstrate that instead of just making idle boasts. I spoke with Shaun on the phone (I was orchestrating this whole thing from California) and found him to be professional, courteous, and understanding of the need for a kind and helpful approach to this very emotionally charged situation. My sister is elderly and since I couldn't be there in person to oversee the packing and move, I had to rely on trusting my gut from not much more than a few phone calls and texts to get this started. Long story short, Shaun and his crewmember did a FANTASTIC job on all levels. The furniture was completely blanketed and wrapped, the items that were not quite packed were taken care of, and ALL the junk went quickly to the dump. They took pics of the whole process, the packed truck, and the filled storage unit, keeping me updated all along the way. My sister felt safe, supported, and acknowledged. The price was exceptional for what they had to do. They moved quickly to keep the time down and didn't even take a break until it was all done. Marc showed up and I liked his honest approach immediately. He was very upfront, took notice of special items, asked many questions and told us, with great sincerity, how great his team was. I knew from that meeting that I would go with Marc. Moving day came - and - due to pretty severe illness 1 week prior to our move - we were behind on our packing. Marc and his team were wonderful and got us moved regardless. His team was fabulous: friendly, happy, fast, efficient, and careful. We really enjoyed dealing with them. I had a number of precious pieces of furniture that they were very aware of and very careful with. (Note: I had gotten appraisals and purchased insurance via Top Notch for these items and this is an important step, as the standard move insurance is by the pound and will not come close to covering actual replacement costs for anything of any value.) So the rate went from $149.00/per hr for 3 men to $ 223.50 per hour plus 2 additional hours. Of course calling the morning of the move, my relatives had NO choice but to move. At the end of the move they also added $ 160.00 fuel surcharge on top of all the additional charges. Totally outrageous to do to Seniors on the day that they had to move. Unfortunately we didn't realize how much they were ripped off by these movers until it was done. ...and of course they refuse to talk to me regarding this.

One guy showed up hung over, went around the side of our front porch and proceeded to pull his "junk" out and pee right there while the other guy just laughed. I told them to stop, and they started to try and get violent with me ( I am a 65 year old man ) threatening to "beat my ass" if I didn't shut my mouth and "stay out of their way" I stopped for fear they would hurt me. They started to load my truck by just literally throwing boxes on the back of the truck. I heard glass breaking, and one of the guys told me its supposed to sound like that when boxes hit the floor and not to worry about it, all in a raised, threatening voice and proceeded to stand there and stare at me, intimidating me. They took a break, that lasted almost 2 hours, that they told me they'd have to charge me for, and came back smelling like Marijuana and a bunch white stuff on one of their noses that I could only assume was cocaine. I had enough and called the police. As soon as they saw the police car pulling up, they both dropped what they were carrying and ran, leaving my valuables in shambles and my home a mess. The owner then called and told me I owed them 1800.00 for the work and for hassling his "workers". I told him I would call the police, and he hung up immediately. Needless to say, if you want a bunch of unprofessional drug addicts that will break or steal your items, you've come to the right place.
