Had a very different experience than the other commenters here. My moving crew was on time (close to the end of the window given, but nevertheless on time) and phoned to say they were on their way. Had a moving crew of 2 who worked a decent pace to move us out of our apartment into our new home. Took care to not damage any of the items and worked to avoid any damage to the new or old home. Movers were friendly and talkative, and I think they could tell I was in a time crunch needing to get back to work. All in all, a positive experience. read more

This company took advantage of relatives (seniors). The morning of the move they called to say that there was a now a 2 hour travel time (they knew where they were moving 3 weeks prior), as well as it was a Stat Holiday (which it was Federal only, not Ontario). So the rate went from $149.00/per hr for 3 men to $ 223.50 per hour plus 2 additional hours. Of course calling the morning of the move, my relatives had NO choice but to move. At the end of the move they also added $ 160.00 fuel surcharge on top of all the additional charges. Totally outrageous to do to Seniors on the day that they had to move. Unfortunately we didn't realize how much they were ripped off by these movers until it was done. ...and of course they refuse to talk to me regarding this. read more

They were supposed to show up at 8am and we were waiting until 10am, no one showed up.. after calling what I believe is the owner, he 'forgot' that he was supposed to move our furniture. He finally showed up about 3hrs later, loaded the truck, went for lunch and drove to our house which is about a 25 minute drive from the pick up location. He charged us 1.5 hrs of travel time plus 3hrs to load and unload (including lunch time of course) plus fuel surcharge.. He never mentioned that he charges for travel time either.. The estimate for the move was $500-600 and he charged us almost $800 If you want an honest estimate/ mover, don't hire these guys!! read more

I had a local move in Kingston from an apartment with an elevator (only 1 floor up) to a storage unit with easy access. I listed what I needed to be moved prior to getting the quote and was told it would take 2-3 hours plus 1 hour travel. The owner and one other mover showed up ready to go over an hour late. He took his sweet time the entire move. They had poor communication as they were both listening to music and couldn't hear each others instructions. They loaded and unloaded things onto dollys because of this. After an hour they had moved a bed frame and a couch to the truck. The remaining hour they moved 3 side tables, an exercise machine, 2 stools, mattress and approx 10 boxes. They stopped for food on the 1 minute drive to my storage unit and I sat in the parking lot waiting for 15 mins. after Finishing putting things in the storage unit he tried to tell me they moved from 9-1230. He didn't start until after 9, and finished at 12, not to mention that he stopped for food during a 2-3 hour job and wanted me to pay for that time. He is a scammer and tried to tell me he could have charged me more money. I believe anyone could have done a more efficient job. He wasted an hour chatting and standing around. he clearly doesn't care to have repeat business and is taking advantage of people. read more

This was a truly horrible moving experience on every level. Supposed to come with 3 men and only brought 1 who sat outside saying he was not feeling well (drugs?), while the other main guy moaned and kept wanting a break. Took way longer for the move and it was a huge stress. I heard him speaking on the phone with another client that they were unable to move him despite them being booked the same day. The other client was simply left in the lurch. Over double the quoted price, and all kinds of excuses for being lazy, unprofessional and incompetent. Don't ever use them! read more

We booked them in belleville. It was a move from belleville to belleville that they charged 1.5h hours travel (that we were not told of). After moving 2/3 of the stuff, they said ok that's all we are taking. They later claimed that they were told the stuff they left was being donated. We only told them the bed was being donated and that was it. To make matters worse...they sighed when they were told the fridge was going. Who gets into the moving business and gets frustrated about moving a fridge? Now we need to rent a uhaul to move the rest ourselves. So, after being quoted 5-6 hundred for a 3.5 hour job, we paid 660 for a 3 hour job and they didn't finish it. Unfortunately there is no zero star review. read more

Hired this company to move from a bungalow to 1 br apt 6 blocks away. It took them 7 hours plus 1 hr travel time for a total of 1250 dollars!!!! One of the movers did not show up, despite my offering to go pick them up. Still charged me rate for 3 guys. Left me standing outside while they cleaned the truck at end of job, and added this time to the bill. One of the movers had improper footwear and slipped dropping trunk full of antique china. Once truck was loaded, they drove to movers place to pick up new footwear. They were gone 40 minutes! Effectively freezing my hibiscus tree which was put in truck last. Moved into apartment with brand new hardwood floors. I expressed my concern re salty, wet boots and they finally put mats down second trip. They removed the legs from my couch and set couch down on floor, leaving 2 x 6" scratches on new floors. Leather on one end of couch salt damaged from ?standing on end? When I followed up with the owner, he denied scratching the floor, denied being gone 40 minutes, and blamed 7 hour move on elevator at apt. He also complained that the weather was cold that day. Recently moved my daughter from a 2 BR walk-up to 3 storey townhouse with way more furniture with a different company. All done in 3 and a half hours, much more difficult move, much better movers, no damage. Big hearts?...how do you sleep at night! read more

Avoid. A total nightmare. Movers hardworking and friendly. The owner, I think is Raymond,extremely rude to workers yelling and swearing at them the entire time,whom he only he called in morning of our move, he kept telling me he's paying out of pocket for them ...Told me to get him and workers food. They Couldn't take all our items, he knowing we had quite a few things we would have to move ourselves the next day. We had 2 sea containers for storage. After they left I looked into them. One was packed full as expected. When I opened the other, it was packed all the way to door. I was shocked. I crawled over items and sure enough the back of the container was completely empty. The next day we had to move everything they put at front to back of container to move all our items they couldn't move.of course no where near price he quoted. I was expecting more with gas. Extremely rude and unprofessional owner. The workers were hardworking thou. read more

Please do not use this moving company. They are extremely rude and very unprofessional. We wanted to wrap a piece of glass and they said no not to and they proceeded to break the glass top of our coffee table. Do not call them under any circumstances even if you are desperate. read more

DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!!!!!! Set up a simple move to pick up a bed and bring it to my son"s University house. They waited until the very last minute and then cancelled. This is the worst moving company in the Kingston area bar none ! I was merely witness to the move. Upon my arrival they were NOT wearing masks and did not put on one the entire move. I was asked to fetch coffee. I was asked for the use of my personal vehicle so they could go pick up lunch ! When the owners of the residence left to sign the final documents at the lawyers office I had to monitor what they were doing in the house because they had not come out of, or loaded anything into their moving truck for half and hour. It was only when I went to find out what they were doing did they attempt to move anything. They took several unwarranted breaks, made several personal telephone calls and fought amongst themselves - all of which took up time they were billing the customers. What should have been a quick and efficient move from a townhouse took 12 hours !!! UNBELIEVABLE !! Basically, they stole from their customers. I should also mention that the lead guy of the trio talks ALOT and talks negatively about his previous clients. If there was a zero or minus rating, that is what they would have gotten. read more

Never even hired these guys and they still deserve a bad review. I called today to ask if they were available for April 1st move in date and my response was "well what do you need?" I said I'm moving from a house in Kingston to a one bedroom apartment. He quickly gave me the price breakdown and when I asked if he was available for 8am time slot he said "well we'll get there in the morning and you start paying when we leave". Then when I was right in the middle of explaining that some of my items will already be packed in a van he cuts me off to talk to someone else in the room with him (taping up a box or something), saying "you're doing it wrong" and proceeded to have a short conversation with them while I'm still on the phone. When he was finished he said "k sorry, what?"....I made an excuse to hang up and did. I'm sorry but when a potential customer is calling you to book your services you give them your undivided attention, be professional and not ignorant and rude. Will never book these guys. Good luck to them in getting any positive reviews. Zero stars in my opinion. read more

I wrote a very detailed review but it was too long for yelp :/ so I'll try to keep it concise while giving as many details as possible. Two of the three movers that showed up were clearly inexperienced teenagers that needed a lot of direction, which sucks when they charge by time. They took a 50 minute break for a 4 hour job and charged us for it. They damaged our new walls and tried to deny they did it, even though it was a brand new house and I had just done my walk through inspection the day before. Then they lied and said they "don't cover wall damage". When I later called the boss "Ray" on it he offered to send one of the teenagers over with some spackle and we could paint over it. No thanks. They took a large framed mirror off the wall without being asked, broke it and didn't tell us, then hid it in the truck and drove away when they were done. I guess they were hoping we wouldn't notice it was missing. I called and told Ray a large mirror was missing and he denied it for a while, but finally admitted it was left in the truck (but still didn't tell me it was broken). Then they dropped it off on our front porch when we weren't home. They badly tore a valuable couch by cramming it into an elevator that we clearly told them it would not fit into, but they tried anyway when we were busy with something else. They damaged several other pieces of our property and told us we signed a damage waiver so we aren't entitled to anything, but finally let us make a damage claim for 60 cents per pound of damaged property. It's been 3 and a half months of back and forth emails and dodged calls and I still haven't gotten the small amount they said I was entitled to, which won't even pay for half of the couch repair, never mind replacing and fixing the other stuff they ruined. If you value your possessions and sanity, don't call Two Small Men in Kingston. They have no respect or accountability. read more
