I haven't lived in Texas long and I don't live close to this park, but any chance we get, we go here. It's more than a city park with a nice mixture of trails and recreational spaces. It's a great park to walk, run, cycle, or simply stroll. Sometimes we go for a stroll in the evening after we've been to a nearby restaurant. There are places to sit and people watch if that's your thing. There are also lots of nature trails as well. And there is no shortage of restrooms, which is a plus for a park this size.

I visited for a corporate 5k race where my company participated along with many, many more companies and runners. It was a great location for an event like that with the majority of the route being flat. There were a decent amount of parking lots along with shuttles to take us to the event. I would highly recommend participating in races here. I was very grateful that the Memorial Park Fitness Center let me use the showers for free after the race. However, the facility is badly neglected and badly needs upkeep. I felt like I was going to get all kinds of infections by being in there.

I'm not sure who started putting shards of wood under our children when they play, but I'm over it. We came here on one of the handful of nice weather days weekend down here in Houston. Even though the Sunset Bingo MC was difficult to hear while seated on the grass, the staff were more than willing to rearrange some tables to accommodate the growing crowd. On my way to the (super clean!) restroom I I saw that they had a reading room, which made me instantly fall in love! They also have an arts & craft station with materials free to use. There were many families with young kids enjoying the water playground areas. The fact that they have family reservations available lets me know that this park is well aware of its draw and appeal. Birthdays? reunions? book a spot! The nearby restaurants and easy parking are major pluses. Levy Park has a packed calendar of events so I'm bound to be back before the summer ends.

3.5 stars Cool place…read moreto hangout, but dang, why the metal slides in Houston? We went on a cloudy, cooler day (high of 81) in March, but the slides were still too hot. There is some shade provide by the canopies but definitely not enough. The bottom of the slides were still hit by the sun, and they're hot enough to burn you. I don't even wana think about in the middle of summer when Houston gets up to 100 degrees. My 2.5 yo enjoyed the playground otherwise. It was just too hot to enjoy all the things. She did really enjoy the water part and the sand. (We brought her swimming shirt and shorts, and she just walked in the sand and water barefoot. Surprisingly the concrete sidewalks didnt feel hot.) I stayed very close to her as she walked around the metal platforms (i could see this as being super dangerous, especially if crowded). The individual family restrooms are on the water side btw. The park side does not have changing tables in the restrooms. We saw some swings nearby, but there was no shade whatsoever (trees, canopies), which is a bummer bc she loves swings. Carousel is closeby. $3/ride or $6 all day. Parking is a bit further. We found free parking near the roundabout (Googlemaps: Parking man (Free parking)). We went around lunch on a Monday so there was a handful of empty spots, however on a weekend, forget about it. I absolutely hate driving down here. We walked through the Japanese Garden (recommend) since it's on the way to the playground.

I have an 11 month old and it was pretty perfect for him. Artificial grass areas for him to play on with a small hill. Swings for little ones too. He had a ball. Lots of play structures, spinners, climbing, swings, most of the area is wood chipped. Nice coveted area to have a gathering - birthday, etc. The area is completely gated for safety. Parking on opposite sides of the street, don't park directly on park side. Don't block driveways.

We would sit outside on the swings and just talk. Granted, it's probably not for 17 year olds with nothing else to do, but we didn't care. I still don't care. I don't have kids, I have no reason to be at a park with so much awesome playground equipment, but I keep going here. Something about it is kind of magical. It's hidden from the rest of the world, even though it faces Westheimer. Yes, there are courts for basketball and tennis, but I could careless about that. The trees here are twisty and huge, providing a canopy for dreams. It's got plenty of parking and is in a really nice area. I've never seen homeless people at this park, I've never been worried about it. If I had kids, I'd definitely take them here.
