Refusing to release or refund a paid item after acknowledgment of pickup attempts could constitute unlawful conversion or unjust enrichment under state and federal commercial codes. I live out of state and have purchased from Donny Malone through Live Auctioneers several times. The service has gotten progressively worse until it has become unacceptable. At the end of every auction, buyers receive an automatic shipping quote from Gravity Boxes through Donny Malone. That constitutes a recommendation by and an association with Donny Malone. Neither firm takes responsibility for failure to ship after prompt payment. Neither firm responds to queries. I had to complain through Live Auctioneers, and the response from DM was that they have no association with Gravity Boxes when in fact they obviously do. Neither is taking responsibility for failure to ship, and both are responsible. Both will be sued. read more

I recently bid and won a 18k gold men's watch. Happy with my winning, think of the WTF when it arrived and tested by four different people and companies, it was gold plated cheaper watch. Be very very careful when buying from this action house. They use LiveAuctioneers and blame the platform for any mistakes. We were invoiced for an item that we did not bid on and were told by a woman (she said she is Donny Malone's wife) that since LiveAuctioneers has a "confirmed bid" attributable to us that "there is nothing (they) can do." This is only true because THEY DO NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING. Since she claimed this was do to "the invoicing", we offered to pay for the item, have them refund us, and they resist the item. This is the policy from every other auction house we have ever dealt with including the one we owned whenever there are mistakes. Donny Malone auction house is a rip off. I purchased items in 3 different auctions this January 2023. I spoke with Donny Malone employees and made an appointment to pick up my items for today, January 21. During the conversation there was never any mention of a storage fee. Earlier this week I received an invoice from Donny Malone for hundreds of dollars in storage fees, when I called to complain about the bogus charges they said they'd cap it at $300, and resent another invoice for $380. I refuse to pay for these bogus charges and the money grubbing Donny Malone now gets to keep my items. Total bs and a huge rip of. Provided what turned out to be a totally inaccurate description that misrepresented and substantially inflated the price of the item. Even a cursory inspection of the item would have revealed this. Recently, a friend purchased a large number (174) items from Donnie Malone Auctions. Unfortunately, he happens to be in Europe at the moment, and asked if I would pick up the items and put them in a storage unit for him. I arrived with my minivan, and was greeted cordially. The young man who was helping me even asked if I would like him to bring things out in lot order so that it would be easier for me to keep track of what had been packed and what hadn't. I began to wrap smalls and put them in tubs while he and two other young men retrieved items from the warehouse. Needless to say, I was soon falling behind, so one of the young men offered to help me wrap items. After an hour and a half or so, a brief downpour passed over. All hands were on deck to help me get the items out of the rain and into my van. When I returned the next day to pick up the remaining items, the young men were equally helpful. I can't say enough good things about the service I received here. Thank you, Donnie Malone auctions - I would have been totally overwhelmed had I been left to my own devices. I really am amazed that Donny Malone Auctions of Saugerties, NY is still in business. The number of, shall we say, "questionable" paintings that Donny sells is truly shocking. The numbers of, again, "highly questionable" Rolph Scarlett paintings in particular that have passed through Mr. Malone's hands over the years is seriously troubling. I won auction Nov 28 for 12 inch glass vase $45. I was invoiced and paid in 3 days. Referred to Gravity Boxes for "In House Shipping" I was charged $103 pack and ship a 12" vase. That is a solid 65.00 over the actual cost. When I asked why it was so much I was told UPS is charging more because of Christmas. That is a total lie. 100 percent liar. Unless you get a pre auction quote from them and surrounding similar business, you are going to get gouged like me. When you simply go with their system, they have you over a barrel and stick it to you good. I know it was the 3rd party pack and ship company that over charged me, but when I let Malones know, they did nothing. So basically they allow price gouging. They are probably getting a cut from the suckers like me. If not, they certainly allow this shameful practice to continue. I definitely hold Malones responsible for letting Gravity over charge me. They are the ones that referred me to Gravity. I am about positive I am not the first or last person to get bent over by these Carnies. You oughta be ashamed of yourselves. It is not so much about the money as the principle. Makes me wonder what other shady practices are they involved in. BTW. It is now Dec 20th and still have not received the item I bid on. Closing in on a month. So even after emails and phone calls to see wtf is going on, I still do not have the item. For all I know it is lost or broken. I am now worried I was mislead about the vase in regards to condition. Seems pretty reasonable to think if a company allows price gouging, who is to say the participate in misleading condition disclosure and lord forbid, shill bidding. Wouldn't be the first time an auction company was involved in shady practices. Ok, I read some of these reviews AFTER I bought from him and had my fingers crossed that everything would be ok. Everything was....mostly. First off, I have to admit I was a bit of a nightmare client. I am new to auctions and did not pay and or pick up my items in a timely manner. I went back and forth with emails but they stayed in touch. I finally came to pick up my items close to 3 weeks after I bought them. I got 2 works of art. A sculpture and litho. Also got a "lot" of 8 brooches. All the items were less than half $ ($143) than a similar (not as nice)sculpture sold ($299)for on ebay within last 60 days. The only criticism I have is that the brooches were just thrown into a plastic bag and that knocked some stones out of them. One brooch was broken/piece missing=making it worthless and it wasnt disclosed that there were broken pieces. He slaps an "as is" statement on everything, so just keep that in mind. Again, just one of the brooches is an Coro from the 1940s and worth around $175 once I replace a couple of small rhinestones, so I got more than what I paid for. read more

BEWARE THIS CLOWN I wish I had seen these reviews before I bid on anything with this clown. Purchased a vase at one of his rip offs. Contacted Gravity shipping which I think is a relative of Malone. I paid immediately for purchase and Gravity the next day to have the vase shipped. This Malone guy acts like he's doing you a favor and you should be grateful he allowed you to bid. Cut to the chase, I never received the vase because according to Malone/Gravity I paid for the vase and my husband paid for shipping. Somehow two people at the same address confused them.....so although paid for and shipping address given this clown didn't ship. Tried to go through liveauctioneers but their rigamorole is to send you a form letter about contacting auctioneer, basically blowing smoke up yer ...anyway Thankfully we used PayPal and they do check these reviews. Seems I'm not the first or only customer Malone/Gravity spit on. And for liveauctioneers...people get your priorities straight...Its WE THE CUSTOMERS that keep all that money coming in how about showing the folks with the wallets some support. Our shipper contacted him several times and finally got a call back he resold our items--two vases; we aren't talking about furniture here. If the guy is that desperate let him enjoy the couple hundred dollar scam. I have purchased many items from Donny Malone Auctions over the past few years however recently an item was listed as Hand Painted and when I received it was a cheap printed item NOT hand painted. Every other auction house stands behind their descriptions and would refund the sale EXCEPT this one. He will outright lie to your face, and then say he has no responsibility for his descriptions and keep all your money. He is a criminal bait and switch artist who is an embarrassment to the auction business. You would be out of your mind to deal with Donny Malone Auctions, you might as well throw your money in the trash rather than deal with this trash. read more

I purchased an item from this auction house paid for it and for them to ship it, I never received the item and they never gave me tracking information they've given me the runaround for two months and will not give me a refund. This company sells items doesn't ship them and then keep your money as well I highly recommend not using this company read more

He's a great young guy who offers great merchandise - usually you can win the bidding at a fraction of any place else. I've gotten many great items. Like anything else you have to have a base knowledge of art and antiques. If in doubt always inspect the merchandise before bidding. read more

Someone should explain to this BABY the correct way to do business. 5/13/19 Auction: He advertised two autographed pictures. One of John Elway and the other, Jason Kidd. This is his item description: "Two [2] Autographed Sports Photos John Elway -Jason Kidd. Both have COA on verso." Take notice of the word "Both". When I went to pick them up, he wasn't sure of anything and he said that he would check. I also told him that I would check his description on the computer when I got home. (I live 100 miles away from his auction house). I thought that he could be trusted. Getting a return email from him is almost impossible. He said that he describes his items "to the best of his ability". It's either there is a COA or there isn't a COA! It's that simple. He outright lied for a $12 item. After bickering back and forth, he agreed to refund me $12, half the cost of the two items. He agreed to that but, now, refuses to return my emails. As of this writing, I have not seen a refund. I realize that it's only $12. What's really sad is that he's a young kid (28) and it's too bad that he is starting his business in such a negative manner.
