Bottom line is that Scott Daniel's is a premier auction house and they are experts! Several years…read moreago, Scott was very helpful in helping me ship the furniture from my mother's estate from California to High Falls. He auctioned it effectively but when he had the proceeds on hand, he paid me in dribs and drapes, a fraction of what he owed me, and then stopped responding to my pleas for full payment. I think he was experiencing serious personal and financial problems, but never came clean with me and I suspect the money he still owes me will never be paid. He's both a seemingly nice guy and also a con man who always had a dramatic story about why he couldn't pay me and when his court cases would be resolved and payment would follow. I feel sad for Scott but also wish he'd paid me the money he owed me.

Many small auction halls seem to play games with buyers and consignors. I'm honestly not sure if it has to do with ineptitude or dishonesty on their part but it just seems to be the norm. Flannery's is one of the exceptions. I have been attending auctions in the area regularly for the past 10 years. Flannery's is one of the few auction halls that I've been to in my life that I don't feel like I'm being misled. I've been picking for a long time and have been to auction halls both big and small from coast to coast. Marianne and her staff are top notch. She seems to really look out for her staff and respects the people that work for her. This is rare in the auction business too. Best of all for me is that it is a quick drive from home.
