Really lovely dockside seafood and bar restaurant that is off the beaten path. The building has been renovated and the ambiance is great for all season dinning inside and outside. We planned a brunch with friends on a Sunday. Pleasantly surprised that we did not have to wait for a table of 8. It's nice when you see they can seat and service a group that's a good size. We ordered and the food came out all at the same time, and everything was correct. That's impressive! Service was friendly and attentive. I heard great things about this place, especially the crab and fried green tomatoes. Sadly I chose the middleneck clams. Gross. They were not cleaned well at all. Once there was sand in my mouth, I could no longer eat. I was not asked once how my meal was, in fact the server wouldn't even make eye contact, she must have known it was sub par. The lunch and dinner menus are good. Food and service is fine. The outdoor area is top notch, the bar is fun and a great place to hang and watch the game. Brunch is an absolute tragedy. Fix it or stop serving brunch. I mean, seriously, its like 20 bucks a person for basic breakfast. Not even an omelet on the menu? What bunch place doesn't even have omelets?! Zero creativity here. Anyway, this place doesn't come close to the quality of The Point but its still my local bar restaurant and I support it 100%. I just want it to be even better. This was the first time we've been to the restaurant since Donnelly took it over. It's been spiffed up considerably from the previous owners. Good food and prices okay. But! The chairs are still very uncomfortable and the noise factor makes it difficult to hear. Needs sound suppression! Other than those items, we'll be back. Great place! read more

I went for dinner with family and I think what you're paying for is the atmosphere. The hushpuppies were really good, but the pasta I had just tasted like butter and lacked flavor. The drinks were delicious though- the painkiller level 2 was very strong so you might want to wait a while before you drive home. We all tried different dishes, and also had the clamstrips and some other fried stuff. I'd probably get appetizers and drinks and hang out, but I wouldn't make my way over here if you want amazing entrees. read more

This restaurant had very horrible service. The portions were small. The sides of fries weren't very small too. The calamari was not even cooked correctly, luckily no one got sick. The seafood pasta was on the light side. Last year it was bigger. The manager lacked manners. Did not care to listen to drunken people in the slip nearby. I love the food at Donnelly's dockside. But when we went, it was not good at all. My mom and I went there on Friday Sept. 2 for lunch. I love the crab avocado that is their appetizer. I always order it as my main meal. When it arrives, the avocado is as hard as a rock. I couldn't even cut through it. I told my waitress and she takes it back but as she is taking it back she rolls her eyes. She comes back and says all the avocado are this hard. Then why are you serving it, is my question. My mom order the coconut shrimp, and she asks for them to warm it up because it was cold. The waitress processed to tell us that they weren't expecting to be this busy. Again, this is our fault. I was very shocked at the level of service we received. It is expensive to go out, and you at least want the food to be good. It will be a while before I return. Very disappointed!!! read more

We were looking for a dog friendly restaurant. Sitting outside was a great situation for the dog. Our waiter was efficient in taking our orders but not all the orders came out without being reminded. One person thought his crab cake was OK not great especially since the prices have greatly increased. First time there for dinner. Needs a hostess that can handle a busy Sat night. Well, it was busy, but not busy. A 45 minute wait for a table when half the dining room was empty between 6:15-7:30, and same 4-seat tables even remained empty after we sat, and all through our seating. You almost lost 2 covers by this wait. And the bar had people taking over standing in the middle blocking empty/unused chairs at the bar and an unused table along the windows of the bar. Frustrating. We always loved this place when it was a Deep Creek. But we were very disappointed with our recent meal there. Calamari was OK but breading a little heavy;also price was a little steep for the quantity. The penne pasta with seafood was good, and it had a nice amount of seafood in it. The mixed grille ( seafood) was bland and shrimp was over cooked. The menu in general was not very interesting or inventive. Noise level very high. They need to install devices that absorb some sound. Our server was great - the highlight of our visit. Really hope they up their game. Love the renovations that came with new ownership of this great location! Enjoying and evening on the patio. The place was packed the entire evening but service handled the traffic well. Onion rings were delicious! The shrimp salad had a variety of ingredients that made for a wonderful entree. Only wish it was served in a different bowl. This one was small and hard to cut in. Dessert was great but it would have been nice to have seen a menu since there was a $4 difference between the two items. read more

So a friend recently visited and suggested I check this restaurant out. We've been to deep creek many times over the years. The server was attentive. Of course the prices for anything crab now are crazy expensive!!!! My wife and her friend ordered the crab cake and soft shell crab and I ordered a "highly recommended Philly cheesesteak. Their entrees were good. My sandwich was one of the worst of all time. Forget miserly and uninspired, try flavorless and all dry toasted bun! I ate what I could while the others ate their lunches, I paid and we left. To be fair, the young man who was serving us asked if all was well and I could've complained but I didn't want to ruin the festive mood. Bluntly either the guy in the kitchen had to know as it was that obvious or he shouldn't be in the trade! For the money there are many better views elsewhere. read more

It was too chilly to sit outside on the dock, but it was nice and cozy inside. Matt waited on us and he was really, really great. Oysters Rockefeller were delicious and the crab cakes were the best I've ever had...lumps of crab without all of that mayo and celery to take away from the simple flavor. This morning I reserved 60 seats for a post wedding day brunch. I believe more people showed than the original request. I could not have been more pleased with the service, food or venue. While the brunch was a buffet, the restaurant got slammed with a large volume of people all at once. They were kept busy with drink orders for a 2 hour frenzy. Always polite and accommodating, these ladies made a monumental task into clockwork. I did not see who was bartending but they, too, rocked it. The food was great! They kept everything well stocked, warm and delicious. I've been a patron of Deep Creek for many years. My daughter (the bride) had her baptism brunch there. I can honestly say that I love what the owner has done to rejuvenate the place and make it once again, a local destination for good food, good friends, and a spectacular view! read more

Let me start off by saying Donnelly's Dockside is consistently delicious and always with great service (We love Linda and Marliana). But I couldn't recommend them more during Covid-19. We picked up a dozen medium sweet and juicy crabs from them yesterday, but our dozen came with 15 crabs and a huge roll of paper for picking. So grateful for Donnelly's! read more

The outside hostesses were committed to wearing their masks, under their chins. Although we had reservations, people were sitting at our table, and the moved elsewhere at the request of the hostess. The waitress did not wipe the table down, even though we asked. The clam strips were the longest I have ever seen, also on the tough side. My date liked her salmon, my hamburger was a generous size and the fries were good. We've been there many times and enjoy the scenic views but our last visit was pretty disappointing. Super loud dining area, service was pretty slow as the waiter was more concerned about attending to the larger parties. The cream of crab was good but cold. The entree's are supposed to come with fries but my husband's burger came without them. We had to ask for them. The fries were strange. They were flat like potato chips. Heard a lot about this restaurant so my husband and I decided to go give it a try. We ordered clam strips and fish and chips. It tasted like the oil from the fryer has never been changed. I ordered 6 crabs and they were delicious. The drinks were watered down so we received the bill $91 for food that was horrible. Won't go back for sure. read more
