My son was measured by one of Donnelly's staff members at his school opening. I questioned that staff member and had him measure twice because the size he listed was much bigger than my son's usual size. He reassured me that the uniforms just run differently than street clothing. I still had some nagging doubt. So I proceeded to place my order online later. I didn't know what size belt to get so I called Donnelly's and the employee told me to order up a size from the pant size of the original fitting. I took the opportunity to ask her about the sizes "running differently" and she reassured me again that the sizes do run different and the initial sizing was accurate. Okay fine so I placed my order... weeks later we receive the order. THE PANTS ARE AT LEAST TWO SIZES TO BIG AND FALLING OFF EVEN WITH A BELT. These clothes are made for typical obese Americans not for a tall athletic slender boy. Everything was wide and swimming on him! But my main issue is why send a staff member to represent your company who is obviously incompetent! So I call and give Donnellys a chance to make things right. And I'm told I can't speak to a manager and they don't know when the manager will be able to call me back. I stated I didn't want to play phone tag as they've wasted enough of my time already. So what happens you ask? We play phone tag... the manager had no intention of actually making contact with me or righting a wrong. Customer service is non existent but they easily take your money and time like a vampire. I got several snarky emails following this yelp review promising me a phone call from the manager which never happened. And the staff member said they only guarantee an 85% measuring accuracy accepting no responsibility for their mistake at all. He told me "I was being unproductive and playing games with him and the conversation was over".. I still never heard from the manager. And honestly at this point I have no desire to speak to anyone from Donnelly's again. read more

Anyone who has had to deal with Donnelly's already knows how horrible they are. Going in the store takes a minimum of two hours. It's obvious they make each sale to order. I mean it would be so difficult to track all the orders from years past and forecast future needs so customers don't have to waste an entire afternoon. Surprised at all the bad reviews. Every time I call they are helpful and know about my prior orders to compare sizes and such. I only went to one fitting for my preschooler and it did take a while, but it was because she is so small and we had try on a few things. It wasn't too busy either and the ladies there were helpful and attentive. I must have went on a good day. Experience was what I would expect from buying school uniforms. read more

I have been working with Donnellys for over a year now and they are consistent in delivering bad products, POOR COMMUNICATION, ansd they REFUSE to take responsibility for their poor decision making, and actions or lack thereof. They hide from you and won't call you back. The owner Peter is the same way, and i think he is the pupitier; rather than communicate with our business, he literally abandoned the whole project after a year and left us hanging without notice. When employees went to order clothing that was completed, they found he took our web down and didn't let us order any of it, and DID NOT TELL US! The products he wanted us to accept were horrible, no quality control, the lines were all off, our logo was all messed up, and the company name was completely missing from the design; and he wanted us to be okay with it. When we tried to go in and meet with him he said he was in meetings etc, and was not available. We were nothing but pleasant and patient for a WHOLE YEAR, and he abandoned our project without a reason. Donnelly's is the worst company ever. Be kind to yourself and take your business elsewhere. You"ll be happy you did. Believe in what you read. They told me when i started working with them that others were hard to work with. I should have read the reviews. read more

Ordered my daughter uniforms about a months ago and they still haven't came in there always something with this place

If I could rate it as zero stars, I would. I was forced to buy school uniforms through Donnelly's because my school decided to drop Lands End as a second uniform option. To say I am dissatisfied with this decision is an understatement. I spent more money on lower quality uniforms and had to deal with archaic ordering processes and terrible customer service. All logos are ironed on instead of embroidered, fabric quality is cheap, fit is poor, and I have had to wait in line to get a ticket to wait in line to exchange shirt with the wrong logo - it is like the worst days of the RI DMV!!!!!! Lucky for them they have a monopoly on this business because I can't imagine anyone would choose to do business here unless forced to. read more

Ordered skirts for school uniforms in May, 2017. They did not arrive until mid-August and needed to be altered (both around the waist and the length). Was told it would take 2 weeks for the alteration and that the skirts would be ready by September 1. (Mind you, school starts just a few days later). Took a chance and called on August 29, and the skirts were ready, so we picked them up, only to bring them home and realize that although the waist alterations were done, the length alterations were not. In fact, you could still clearly see the chalk mark from where they originally marked the skirts for alteration. Too late to bring it back to them now, so we'll find another tailor to get this done before school. Our first time using Donnelly's, and we're not impressed. In addition, the day we purchased them I watched a cashier ring up a sale and swear she typed in 100 characters for each item that was purchased. It took her about 20 minutes to ring up one sale. Absolutely HORRIBLE place to purchase uniforms from. I have been dealing with this company for several years and each year it gets worse. I drove to their facility in June. I ordered and paid for what I need for next week. I was advised at the check out two items are on back order, would I like to have them shipped or come back to the store. I asked what the shipping cost is, $11.00 OK ship them, I am here now but you do not have stock so please ship at my expense. They told me they receive shipments daily, this order will arrive to my location within the next 4 weeks....June 15 - August 19 is greater than 4 weeks. I call daily to ask where are the items I paid for. Yesterday I was told back orders arrive daily but for some reason my items have not arrived, they need to make a call. They will get back to me mid next week. HELLO, my child needs these items and school starts Wednesday !! I went online ordered the same exact item online from a carrier in NH, 2 days later I have the items delivered to my house !!! I am thankful last week I decided to order the items elsewhere because if I had waited for Donnelly's My child would start school without this required garment !! Clothing quality is good but even considering that the prices are VERY high. $19.00 for a size small polo shirt with 3 letters embroidered on it?!?! They are taking advantage of being the "official" supplier. Plus $11 to ship 2 shirts? That would bring the total to $50 for TWO SHIRTS. I have only ordered online in the past and got shipping to our house, but this time I picked ship to store. I'm a little nervous from the previous reviews about poor service in the store. Guess I will have to take my chances to try to save a few bucks. Also the website seems outdated to me. read more

Besides being overpriced they have terrible customer service- the customer HAS to use them so they do not care about your satisfaction. I order online all the time because (much like anyone who actually buys anything from Donnelly's) I have to order required school uniforms. I ordered youth sizes and I was sent adult, they were huge. My packing slip said youth as well as my online order I had placed. I called the store, about their mistake, and was told I would have to go there to return the wrong items, and get the correct ones, or I had to pay to ship it back to them and also pay the shipping for a reorder (of the youth items I had actually ordered in the first place). Because I was unable to get to the store in time to get the much needed uniform pieces, I paid over $20 more to (rectify their error) and get the right items. In a side note, although I haven't been to the Cranston store, I have heard many horror stories about the wait time and the treatment, from fellow parents. To spend the money one does at their store, and to be treated this way, is disgraceful. read more

Horrible customer service! The owner was "not available" to talk about my concern, nor would they take my number to have him call about my concern. So sad this is the ONLY place to do business. After 9 years for my child and 10 years for myself, one would think they would take back a return that still has a tag on after the thousands we have put into their company! read more

Prices are high and customer service is awful...they thought it was a good idea to size my 7 going on 8 year old boy in May for August pickup..of course my child grew and they could not understand how the sizes they ordered didn't fit....then told me "well that's what you ordered." They are supposed to the expert on this stuff and they had an awfully tough time figuring out what to do for him. The manager was rude and over talking me. Hemmed the pants and I think the seamstress had her eyes closed as it is crooked on one pair. And he hasn't even worn the pants and one hem is already coming out! The sizes of school uniform blouses are very confusing and varied. They don't match regular sizes at a regular store and each style of shirts has different sizes (you could be a large in one style and small in another). An employee measured my sister to be a size Large in the 3/4 style blouse. When she tried it on, it was too large in the arms and stomach area. It did not fit well. We paid for returning it and ordered a size smaller, writing in a note to have it delivered after 3 weeks. The note was disregarded- it arrived before the 3 weeks. The Medium was much too small, barely fitting. We drove to the store and it could not be returned because it had been washed once (my sister had to wear it to school, she had no choice!). We ended up getting a small shirt in another style in a visit to the store that was 1.5 hours. The manager was helpful but not willing to refund it. Prior to coming to this store I read the horrible reviews of this place. I felt intimated with the poor reviews and wondered how worst could it get. This is my first time to come to this place to order my daughter's school uniforms for St Margaret School. Like everyone who came to the store the lady at the front desk asked if I was new customer and got my information and I got a pink slip with a number. When my turn came the associate who assisted me what very pleasant and patient. She took a measurement of my daughter and suggested to fit all of them although the sizes she gave me were bigger. After my daughter fitted them we told associate that they were big. She said the reason why she gave us a bigger size was so my daughter could grow into them but we told her it was bigger. She patiently took them back and gave us the size my daughter preferred. I didn't feel rushed or any sense of indifference. After I ordered everything she asked me if I am willing to wait for the orders to be packed or do I wanted them to be shipped for $11 I decided to have them shipped to my address. When I got to the cashier, the same pleasant experience and courtesy. I told her that my experience today is totally different from the reviews I read. She told me that if I came a week before school started today's experience would be different. I figured the people who write bad reviews are those who come at the last minute and expect to be treated differently. I am sure these people would be the same people who write bad reviews anywhere regardless just because they didn't shop earlier.
